  • Review of the Walther P22 Q hand gun in .22lr. We had some hiccups along the way but will keep trying more ammo and be back with a update video in the future! Overall a nice shooting little pistol.

the internet can make a guy dizzy. Other you tube channels have reported excellent results out of this gun and even the Winchester ammo. Then a guy starts reading comments and the water gets even more clouded about function and ammo appetite. I chalk up your experience to needing to be cleaned and just running in parts with much more firing cycles. Walther does have a recommended ammo list for this and the WMP pistol so that could be a dividend to help alleviate cycling problems. Shooters and the conditions in which they use their guns tend to be all over the board, lots and lots of variables. Smart bet is to go slow and observe the basics to excess, a clean weapon and recommended ammo will usually carry the day. Good video, thank you.

I got lucky. The one I bought about a month ago had one light strike out of 400 rounds. 200 mini mag and 200 HP aguilla. I took it straight from the box and it rang flawless other than that one

I just bought this gun and took it to the range yesterday. I had the exact same results using the 40 gr ammo. I went with the economy big box of ammo for $30 to have some fun at the range for a long time. 1st round fires, 2nd failure to feed continuously. I thought it was maybe due to me firing the gun straight from the box instead of lubing it up. After shooting it for a while and bringing it home it collected a lot of gun powder and was really filthy. It's all cleaned up and lubed properly so I'm ready to hit the range again to see if it keeps giving me the same issues. Great video, thanks for the detail review.

I've owned a lot of semi auto 22lr pistols over the years. Haven't found one yet that wasn't fussy about what ammo it liked. They'll run great with one brand and hate another. I picked the little Walther up a while ago and it's no different. She likes CCI, hates Winchester. Haven't tried Aguila yet, but I will eventually. Bulk ammo's usually hit or miss due to quality control, but mine runs decent with Federal BYOB that I got on sale. That's the fun part of 22lrs. Shooting a bunch for low cost and seeing what they like.

first 300 just shot , 1 jam with CCI mini mags, mag quality is very nice , i have same size hands to me it seems a medium size pistol but ok to use, release is stiff but i like it lol , keeps mag in, the sights are appropriate and fine especially for indoor range, did not know how to remove barrel thank you! ( mine was failure to feed, went part in then in stopped) pulled back slide then it was fine

Great video, thanks. Your video was refreshing compared to the "expert" videos, it felt friendly like a talk with my shooting buddy down the street, competent. I think the P22Q would be a good fit for me, size accuracy and controls. I don't need it for protective service although I did have a guy walk up on me unannounced once on property I rented outside city limits when I was plinking. I think I could manage with the P22Q in a pinch because I don't strap on two pistols to go plink.

I just got one of these pistols for a Christmas present to myself and a box of Winchester target(555) red n white was a real pain to try shooting much of, but funny, it went through the first mag full perfect, then could not fire 2 consecutive rounds with the other magazine full. Failure to feed, fte, ftf...
Bought a few boxes of CCI Stingers and it would plow through that no problem.
Bought a 325 round box of federal auto match and it was instant replay of that first winchester ammo. 1st mag perfect, 2nd mag ftf city.
I'll be happy to hear any tips/ advice on this pistole...😂
So far I've gone through maybe a little under 100 rounds, so I'll clean it up and oil it too and hopefully come back w/ more to add later.
    Thx for your vid!! 👍😎

I've been using CCI Minimag, seems the little Walter at least my likes high velocity ammo without any failures. I used federal automatch and had FTE for the most part. Seem that 1200fpm didn't give the slide enough umf to work properly. Also used Remington Golden Bullet worked semi good. Personally... I stick with CCI Minimag for all my 22lr guns.

Hammer needs polished, notice when you cock it it hangs a bit, not sliding smoothly past hammer, without strong ammo it doesn't come far enough back. Simple fix. Polish hammer, pull back notice where it gets kinda hard.

Im continuing to test this handgun running alot of ammo through it and alot of suppressed use. I am coming to the conclusion that polishing many areas inside the handgun could be helpful not only just the hammer!

    • @blackswampoutdoors4850
      @blackswampoutdoors4850  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

i would recommend high velocity such as Mini Mags or Stingers. as a rule of thumb they seem to help increase reliability slightly. the slide may be alloy but that is what it was designed to do, dont fret. being direct blowback it needs to stay under a certain weight to aid in cycling.

Quit complaining. Buy the Magnum instead 😅
22 ammo is kinda faulty no matter who makes it. Owners hint...soak that firearm in 3 to 1 oil through out . 22 can leave a heavy residue. For the size its as dirty as a 45. Seat your mags also! Run it with the extra lube a bunch...its like so close to a CO2 construct its easy to get lost in its inexpensive feel..but run it and let the gun heat up and seat your parts with the 3_1 oil
Remember its a pentertraitng oil. After that rub it down and give it a "wipe clean:. Again remember 22 ammo is kinda loose, you can bend a bullet pretty easy..
