0:12 Walther doesn't really distinguish each generation of the P22, but if we want separate them, this QD version should be regarded as the 3rd generation. P22 came out around 2001/2002, P22Q was released in 2011, with external appearance changed to mimic PPQ. A multi-slot rail replaced the single slot rail, and the internal lock was deleted. This QD version came out in 2017. Externally it looks exactly like the P22Q, but internally they added a decocking safety, and replaced the uncaptured recoil spring with a captured one. Apparently the QD version got cancelled as I can't find it anywhere on their website now :)

Excellent review. Thanks for doing this. I haven't seen anyone else cover the features. The few that talked about it included ten minutes of their own blather that no one needed. Yours was better and succinct. When I first ran across these they were 50 percent more than the last gen with just a safety. Not worth it. Maybe they'll market it more in line with it's value and getting one will seem more reasonable. Thanks again.
I just bought one of these. Great value..2 mags, hard sided carry case, every standard safety feature, looks intimidating, and 22 ammo is DIRT CHEAP. 22 rounds can be lethal, if necessary. Or not. You just have to know where to aim, or where not to.

After I shot a couple hundred rounds through my new P22 and cleaned it I haven't experienced trouble of any kind. It's quite a smooth running piece.

I've heard it has a lot of issues with ammo. Any issues during shooting? Looking to get one
What is the difference betwen walther p22, p22q and p22qd ?
