Driven many 500+hp cars but love my little 125cc Vespa. As you said. It’s luxury to save shitloads of time & park it anywhere. Nobody’s faster during rush hours. And its so comfy.
As someone who has seen some shit after riding 10,000 miles in Saigon, Vietnam traffic on a 115 Yamaha, I approve of this message. That Vespa is a sweet motobike and has serious street cred in Ho Chi Min City.
Agreed. Lane splitting needs to be more widespread. I've snuck by some traffic on the shoulder before at a light, and gotten dirty looks even though I wasn't bothering anyone. People just need to get over themselves.
Had a PCX125 for a bit and honestly it was a ton of fun. Lots of storage, easy to ride, and it was faster than 75% of cars from light to light and got 125mpg... hard to argue as a commuter vehicle
Great thing with the Vespa - you get a decent sized motor in a still compact chassis. The fast scooters from other manufacturers are big for round town. I own a 2004 Vespa ET2, with an engine mount from a Piaggio Zip 125 the 300 motor slots right in. Once I’ve figured out the rad plumbing and switching to a Malossi carb I’ll have a small frame scoot with an everyday reliable 20+hp. Best way to travel round town 👍
I am considering financing one. This video pushed me to do research and I'm thankful for your kickass input. I was indecisive about spending my money on a Vespa like this vs a Zuma or Grom. I’m gonna agree with the crowd, we love 2 wheel videos 🤙🏼

Been riding Lambretta and old school Vespas since 1980 and are seriously thinking of getting one of these. Not getting any younger and would like something I don’t have to mess about with nearly every other weekend 😂. The Gts looks fab 👌🏾
Mr. Farah just answer the highway 300cc question once and for all. Unless you want to do excessive speeding, 300cc is plenty for every day commute, highway or not.
A small turbo or supercharger will make that 300 surpass their speed and they will have to move over to the slow lane.so they don't hold up traffic..But if you by pass the smog it will do over 90mph.
There is a whorde of modded Vespas in Seattle and they sound AWESOME. Like a whole gang that rides together, pretty cool. They rumble like you wouldn't believe.
I picked up a PCX150 when I moved to SF. Was worried that I'd miss big bikes. Totally the opposite and Matt has everything right in the video. Riding a scooter is just so easy, fun, and convenient (especially in California or the rest of the world where splitting is legal).
i had a 63 allstate when I was a teenager. It was a vespa with sears allstate name on it. it was my first experience driving in traffic. I sometimes wish I still had it. the style hasn't changed much since then either.
I was 12 years old living in Denver in 1960 and at that time I could rent a Vespa scooter. No license required, only money. I had my own little lawn mowing business and I spent half my profits on Vespa's.
Recently started riding scooters in Indonesia. I'm impressed. Practical, cheap and great fun. Can't imagine why you would want 300cc though. 155 gives ample speed and power. Still I wouldn't say no to one.
I'm living in Taiwan and Scooter is the backbone of the society here, it is so convenient, fuel usage is cheap, tyres are cheap, maintenance is cheap, you can carry a surprising amount of stuff on a scooter, easy to find parking and some scooter are actually pretty fast. 150km for 4L of gasoline, that's about 3 dollars US.
The biggest mistake that the Department of Motor Vehicles makes is they do not let car drivers know that lane splitting is legal. So everyone in a car who doesn't drive a motorcycle thinks you're a reckless idiot doing something illegal, And that creates massive Road rage.
I very much enjoy your video, you say buy a Vespa. Well after 10+ years and 3 Harley-Davidsons I've just traded my Softail Street Bob, in for the new Vespa GT 300 I'm awaiting delivery hopefully in the next week or so. The Harley's were great . But the Vespa is back. JP Liverpool UK.
I like Vespa too. My primavera 125 is almost at 34,000 miles. I have a mid size dorky screen, but it's a lot colder here in the UK than where you are and I deliveroo in the evenings. Lots of fun !
Yup, I have one and agree with everything you say. I've got the top case, the lower crash bars, the front, folding rack, the tall windshield, the complete headlight replacement LED unit - not just the bulb, an extra LED driving light in the horn area so I don' tlook like a one eyed car, an alarm that's loud and pages a fob on my keychain if I'm within 500 feet, and last but not least and almost the most fun, an AIR HORN! I had mine to 90, downhill. Will never do it again because it got into a death wobble. A couple more improvements this winter. The side stand will toss you in a nanosecond if you forget to raise it.
Oh, forgot. It is a 2017 in what I call Ferrari red, as you can tell by my name I'm almost a Ferrari, and I'm Italian. Got it at Portland Vespa. Yeah, that is a plug for them.
I love that you did a scooter review. I've got several myself. You should attend an Amerivespa event. Imagine going on a nice country road ride with 500 friends!
I ride a 150cc scooter and also motorcycles, but I find I ride my scooter much more in the city (San Francisco) because it's a lot easier to get through traffic and easier to park than a motorcycle. I use it to commute to work just about everyday. And like you say, it's very practical for light shopping because of it's storage. That said, I've been looking at getting a Vespa GTS 300 Super just so I can hop on the Freeway for short stints.
Is it the HPE SuperTech? I got that one last year and the Grey color is BEAUTIFUL. I would love to talk to someone that has the Supertech, though. I still have a few questions about it that I can't seem to find answers for online.
Terrific video this is precisely why I ride I agree with all your thoughts I consider a scooter a wave runner on land. No shifting is nice especially when you’re zipping around cars Yes cars do not move laterally so that’s a safe place to be you can always hit the brakes and have them shoot by you in an emergency My scooter has a flat floorboard so I could stack a box for drinks and groceries and make it sort of like a truckbed Eight dollar fill ups is highly addicting. At 100 miles to the gallon I’m basically free from gas I keep 10 gallons in my garage and I’m basically my own gas station
I used to have a 125cc to move around Paris and they are great fun, green is an interesting choice but hey if you dig it🤷♂️ have you heard of the Yamaha t-max?🤔
WOW MATT ON A VESPA that s kool and l like he s honest about it all . l remember riding my uncles around the country side all day and had the biggest smile on my face though he still wont part with it :( 30yrs and still going ,of course he uses it to run errands :)
I bought a duke 390 for essentially the same exact use-case and it's terrific. I'd recommend it more than this because you can do about 100mph with it and rev that thumper out to 11k which literally never gets old, proper sequential gearbox, and all the aftermarket parts you could want.
What a great little video. I am on the fence about getting one. Got my learner's bike license in January 2022 and been shopping around to find the best vechile. Thanks for the review. Would have been nice to see more pros/cons and features.
Great see some scootin on here. I ride an old Vespa P200e and a Honda Big Ruckus that I pushed home today 2 miles after the belt snapped. I did ride a friends 2014 GTS and gps’d the top speed of 82
Lane splitting is the norm here in Brazil and this makes small motorcycle a very useful vehicle. The only problem with that is during traffic jams, the bikes goes way too fast between the cars and frequently hits the rear view mirrors of get hit by a car changing lanes
Big fan of the progress as a driver as we both get older. From the vette to vespa :) engineering practicality. I just picked up a Buddy 150cc and have a Road King and the scooter is way more fun hands down. Lane splitting on the highway should be between far left lane and lane next to it when we're riding. Anything else should be in the riders judgement.
What an eye opener this video was. Thanks. I had to give up my Beemers and Harleys due to health problems after 42 years riding. This may be the answer! --Old Guy
I'm totally cool with lane splitting; where it crosses the line to me is when people do it at higher speeds. The rule of thumb I was always taught when I was younger is nobody should lane split in traffic that's moving faster than 25 MPH, and should never had a speed differential greater than 25 MPH, and I think that's pretty reasonable.
Great video and review - been riding scooters for 35 years(with a Yamah RD350LC thrown in) - and still love my Vespa PX200E might upgrade to a GTS HPE next summer as I'm getting bored with the gear changes!! 🛵🤪🙂
Nice video, love your enthusiasm and don't doubt that the Vespa is iconic and has zilliions of accessories. I test rode the GTS300 but bought the Honda SH300i as my city ride with it's 27 horsepower, bigger wheels and imo better styled topbox. Either way, these larger scooters are great, effortless, practical and frugal fun !
Nice review mate. I ride big bikes like the ZZR600 and discovered the Vespa 3-4 years ago to commute around London, never looked back since. My pride and joy is a vintage styled 2009 Vespa GTV250ie in Ivory/Cream colour. #ViviLaVita 💪🏼
Yes I love Vespas I had a 50 mL white I sold it because I needed something more powerful I’m going to get the 300. Great video I was very surprised you had one scene that you’re driving extremely fast cars. Thank you enjoy
I timed you starting with your saying "full throttle" (you were already rolling) to when you said "60" and I got a reading of 11 seconds (12 seconds adjusting to your rolling start). That is probably good as compared to most other scooters and I'm sure it feels much faster even though 11 - 12 seconds is dreadfully slow in a car). It looks like a hoot to ride. Many decades ago, I rode a friend's Vespa with all of 11 hp (optional motor) which was considered high-powered in 1969 and it felt like a rocket.
i bought one of these scoots in june this year .. i live in ireland not the driest place in the world lol and its never let me down .... and it moves to i mean really moves .. i had a st1100 v4 honda before the scoot but due to knee injuries i had to down size .. thi scoot was the best move i ever made .. plus its bright yellow so if you can see me on this you shouldnt have a car license .. great show .. subscribed
I have to say that being from a state other than CA the whole lane splitting thing scares the crapola out of me, but you're the first guy to explain that it's probably better than being crushed between two cars since cars don't move sideways, lol.
My first motorized bike was a 1978 150 I still have it. Yes the luxury is being able to do things that other people can't and to keep moving you're so right with that. And there's nothing better than Lane splitting
Yo! i live in phoenix and have had all versions of Vespa and now have the Piaggio BV350. I ride all over the city even through the heat. My scoot had similarities like storage. We dont have legal lane splitting but the scoot is quiet and people dont pay attention cuz they are are on the phones, I sneak between cars at red lights if there is a a lot of cars deep. I ride like I am invisible too, assuming all cars are out to run me over. I love the scooter for the same reasons you do.
I have been commuting with my 2019 Honda Scoopy, probably the closest thing I can relate to your content🤣 . Where I live, we ride/drive our motorcycle as we see fit, there is no specific lane for motorcycle. As long as you can fit through, it's a lane for us 😆
I have a Honda PCX150. Love it! For lane splitting, I think they should design the lanes dividers to be 2 foot wide. Give us just that little bit of extra room.

Lol hey man I’ll take whatever 2 wheel content you’ll throw at me, nice scoot 👌
but we would appreciate more from TST. .
Having been a motorcycle rider for more than 40 years I traded to a 650 Suzuki Bergman. I think it's great in town and cruises comfortably at 80mph on the highway !
Absolutely great content and video. Can’t recommend this dude enough. Love Vespa!
Driven many 500+hp cars but love my little 125cc Vespa. As you said. It’s luxury to save shitloads of time & park it anywhere. Nobody’s faster during rush hours. And its so comfy.
i have a 2013 Piaggio BV350 and i agree with everything you've said in this video. it makes my life so much easier!
As someone who has seen some shit after riding 10,000 miles in Saigon, Vietnam traffic on a 115 Yamaha, I approve of this message. That Vespa is a sweet motobike and has serious street cred in Ho Chi Min City.
Yap, 300cc Vespa is good weapon to punish those racer boys on there exciters and winners.
Ask ChYYYna
Agreed. Lane splitting needs to be more widespread. I've snuck by some traffic on the shoulder before at a light, and gotten dirty looks even though I wasn't bothering anyone. People just need to get over themselves.
Had a PCX125 for a bit and honestly it was a ton of fun. Lots of storage, easy to ride, and it was faster than 75% of cars from light to light and got 125mpg... hard to argue as a commuter vehicle
thesmokingscooter great content
I’m gonna agree with the crowd, we love 2 wheel videos 🤙🏼
you get one bro?
@@dank9288639 no bought a ninja 500 starter bike love it
If if this was a paid promotion I wouldnt be mad, Matt is so genuinely enthusiastic about this thing.
Love your PFP
I am owning my Vespa Lx150 for four years now ,i am hooked..as i am asian malaysian malay guy , Lx150 is enough for me..and maybe one day i will upgrade to the 300..as i love your channel..i am supprised that you love vespa too..😁❤️✌🏻
Been riding Lambretta and old school Vespas since 1980 and are seriously thinking of getting one of these. Not getting any younger and would like something I don’t have to mess about with nearly every other weekend 😂. The Gts looks fab 👌🏾
easily one of your best vids
Mr. Farah just answer the highway 300cc question once and for all. Unless you want to do excessive speeding, 300cc is plenty for every day commute, highway or not.
Had 100cc bike. Fine
A small turbo or supercharger will make that 300 surpass their speed and they will have to move over to the slow lane.so they don't hold up traffic..But if you by pass the smog it will do over 90mph.
If you by pass the smog it should give you 3 to four miles per hour for every 50 cc's.
I’m 68 years old and still ride a sport bike but when it gets harder to get a leg up over a seat I won’t have a problem to ride a Vespa.
I have a GTS 300 Super as well, I agree with everything Matt says in this video. Go out and buy one, they're 7 grand out the door.
This video is brilliant. I have one and love it, my other motorcycle is a Harley Electra Glide, I commute to work on my Vespa almost every day
There is a whorde of modded Vespas in Seattle and they sound AWESOME. Like a whole gang that rides together, pretty cool. They rumble like you wouldn't believe.
R they mods ???? I'm in Durham England UK
I own a SYM HD 200, great scooters.
Love the Burt Reynolds as The Bandit mural.
Living right down the street makes me feel like I'm watching my own commute video. Nice scooter Matt!
we just got one of these, and for mobility downtown & especially parking (which is scarce in europe) these bikes are like cheatcodes
I have a 200hp Zh2 and a 24hp Vespa 300 GTS HPE. I hear you about having no ego about riding. I ride the Vespa more.
Is it the HPE SuperTech? I got that one last year and the Grey color is BEAUTIFUL. I would love to talk to someone that has the Supertech, though. I still have a few questions about it that I can't seem to find answers for online.
@@iflovewasred823 the hpe is the motor. There’s a super tech hpe also. All 2020 and later Vespa 300s have the new hpe engine.
@@forrysc I understand. :) I have the HPE Super Tech and was wondering if you did as well. But I guess you would have said that if you did... lol.
I’m getting my first job this year and I’m so excited to buy this , gonna take a full year of working to get it
Terrific video this is precisely why I ride I agree with all your thoughts
I consider a scooter a wave runner on land. No shifting is nice especially when you’re zipping around cars
Yes cars do not move laterally so that’s a safe place to be you can always hit the brakes and have them shoot by you in an emergency
My scooter has a flat floorboard so I could stack a box for drinks and groceries and make it sort of like a truckbed
Eight dollar fill ups is highly addicting.
T-Max riders are always riding like they have a death wish for some reason.
@@Zanpaa lol
I prefer the super cub to be frank
having a tmax is the definition of being hood rich in france

WOW MATT ON A VESPA that s kool and l like he s honest about it all . l remember riding my uncles around the country side all day and had the biggest smile on my face though he still wont part with it :( 30yrs and still going ,of course he uses it to run errands :)
Yes! Finally the Vespa review!
My first real motorcycle-ish was also a Vespa 50! That lead to a Sprint 125 and eventually a Vespa 300. That 300 was a two-stroke torquemonster!
Great. Have my third 300 GTS. Nothing better for city traffic. Even better than my motorcycle...👍
One of the best review video's on the Vespa GTS, and it's American !!
I had the same bike and loved riding through heavy traffic. So much fun

Beautiful green! I love my 07- GTS250. Awesome machines!
The video stabilizer is amazing. Buttery smooth
Vespa sprint, primavera or lx50 with a 180 cc 2stroke runner engine got it to 160km/h (100mph) in a few seconds ive seen builds.... crazy!
YESSSS! Scooter content!!
1:51 No sir. The 2019 gts 300 HPE is the fastest production Vespa ever made. With 23,8 HP. You're testing an older model
I was about to say the same thing. I had to double check the video's post date. I got the HPE Supertech and that thing zooms.
Many decades ago, I rode a friend's Vespa with all of 11 hp (optional motor) which was considered high-powered in 1969 and it felt like a rocket.
i bought one of these scoots in june this year .. i live in ireland not the driest place in the world lol and its never let me down .... and it moves to i mean really moves .. i had a st1100 v4 honda before the scoot but due to knee injuries i had to down size .. thi scoot was the best move i ever made .. plus its bright yellow so if you can see me on this you shouldnt have a car license .. great show .. subscribed
Great video! Love it. I had a 125 Vespa that came as a part of a cardeal (74 Camaro) and I ended up loving the Vespa ....
I have to say that being from a state other than CA the whole lane splitting thing scares the crapola out of me, but you're the first guy to explain that it's probably better than being crushed between two cars since cars don't move sideways, lol.
Don't know what I'm more jealous of: the Vespa or y'all being able to lane split. Maybe we'll see the light in Texas some day 😩
My first motorized bike was a 1978 150 I still have it. Yes the luxury is being able to do things that other people can't and to keep moving you're so right with that. And there's nothing better than Lane splitting
Dude, i am so excited about getting one these babies.
Yo! i live in phoenix and have had all versions of Vespa and now have the Piaggio BV350.
As long as you can fit through, it's a lane for us 😆
Scoopy is such a great name for a bike model 😊
Agreed, I commute in central London on my GTS ...no better tool for it !
Hey Matt, buy the speed ring for the rear wheel. It corrects the speedometer and gains you a bit of top speed!
Hi there! Exactly! You're right. Check my comment on the latest, that's what I 'm trying to say. It also has to do with safety.
I have a Honda PCX150. Love it!
For lane splitting, I think they should design the lanes dividers to be 2 foot wide. Give us just that little bit of extra room.
