    The only video that talks about the brush motor problem.👍
    For my part, I had no soldering problem. The motor no longer worked because it was full of dust, part of which had burned.
    I cleaned it with a big blow of air compressor. Tthen some contact cleaner.
    I also cleaned the sprockets and re-greased.
    Everything is working perfectly again.
    Thank friend, and Bonjour from France.

    Thank you for the video. This is a nice one. Just a feedback : it is a bit noisy in the background but much better than other useless content maker junk ;-)
    I have had the same symptoms but in my case, the problem was not a solder issue.
    The dyson main board has an ESC that drives the motor and cuts the power when things are "out of specs". This is why I could sometime see a really small hicup under power up but then a measurement on the motor connections would show 0V.
    I dismantled the motor casing as you shown. The trick is to use a piece of tape to keep the small top grey part together with the white part and push the white part out. It takes a bit of force because of the gasket but it comes out slowly and gently. The gear box stays closed, in one piece and you do not risk to mess it up.
    What I did then was connecting a 12v power supply (in my case a small old 12v lead battery from an alarm). I used some compressed air to blow away any dust from inside the motor but there wasn't any. The motor started spinning and a bit of smoke went out of the motor vents. The motor speed wasn't constant. I could see some sparks or incandescent things inside the engine and kept it running for a few more seconds. The speed increased slightly and stabilised. The motor cleaned itself ;-) A bit of air to blow any burnt material. Under a bit less than 12V, the current is 350mAh (on a V6).
    I reconnected the motor to the dyson unit and all was working fine. A few minutes later, everything was re-assembled.
    Next time I might try to connect the battery without disassembling the motor but then the burnt dirt stays inside which may give other problems.
    Hoping this helps others.

    Thank You very much for this video! I had no loose soldering, but the rotor was very dirty. I cleaned the copper contacts and the brushes and it works again!

    Great video mate I've been looking on utube for the v10 powerhead brush motor not spinning and yours is the only video that goes into full detail.
    Good job and well explained mate 👍👍

    good stuff. exactly what happens with mine. Runs for a few seconds then stops. I've got an old V6 that has stuffed up so will pull the motor from that and exchange. Thanks for your time

    Update: after a few days, all the other motorized brushed began to do likewise: spinning for 1 second and then stopping, in eco and normal mode but not in turbo mode; and the motor started "pulsing" even with no brush mounted, and having a really poor suction power. So I realized it was a motor unit defect! I reassembled my brush head with no intervention except a thorough cleaning, and got the motor unit replaced (not on warranty anymore, a lot of $$$ 😵). Now the whole thing is working again: main unit, torque head brush and all the other motorized brushes. The repairer said that the motor was full of very thin dust, which is tipically a vacuum killer, despite the filter. I hope this can help other users...

    I have the same problem, it would spin for less a second then it stops, yeah, you need to reconnect and it would spin for another second.
    There's aftermarket roller brush from China for around 25 dollars for the whole brush unit.
    Thanks for sharing this!

    Thanks for the video. I opened up mine and noticed that the copper contact pads where the brushes touch, where completely worn away. So mine is not repairable. Now searching for a new motor, but its hard to find.

    • @DJSpannamanUK
      @DJSpannamanUK ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The motor is generic. You just need to find one the same size. All 12v motors will work. Its bigger than a 380 bit not as big as a 530.
      Hold up

    Did yours spin without the beater bar attached? Mine spins and stops but when I remove the beater bar from the motor it spun freely.

    Thanks for great vid. I took motor out and tested it on bench power supply, it worked fine but testing when it's on the Hoover it doesn't despite voltage being delivered to the motor via tubes . When I turn the brush by hand it's free t move as it's cleaned of dust and debris. But when I move it it rotates with a slight oscillating resistance. I am wondering if the main unit stops supplying current because it takes to much current at start up? Any ideas?

    • @DJSpannamanUK
      @DJSpannamanUK 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I get ya. Yeah too much amp/current draw and the esc shuts it down.
      A voltage drop needs to be checked @ the motor while connected in the hoover.
      Tricky task but it my experience the motor being brushed will be the problem.
      I think it’s a 520 size

  • @alexjaybrady
    @alexjaybrady ปีที่แล้ว +1

    nice one! thx! it ran fine when not connected to the belt. bearing seemed fine. it just seemed like the draw required to turn the brush was above some cutoff.
    i was not able to open the motor cleanly, but after pulling the end cap off sure enough there was a big crack in the solder on one of the turny things.. i will see if i can find an identical motor and solder it in. its just for fun really, you can buy a whole new part for 15quid and i got the device free bu not the point is it? :)

    How did you detach the engine from the gray casing? Can the six pins (2x3 pins) be pressed in?

      Very very carefully lever up the side to release the three clips on one side then do the same on the other side. Bit by bit to edge the motor off the gearbox

    Hello, have v7 motor head stop start problem , cleaned all dust hair from v7 Checked connection through out length of vaccum. Oiled connection to from motor to brush bar still no go, driving me mad. Not able to strip down motor to check any loose wire, HELP New motor head from Dyson??

    • @DJSpannamanUK
      @DJSpannamanUK 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have no experience with the v7 but on the other hand I am sure you can strip it down to the motor because it was put to together in factory so must be able to reverse the installation for a strip down.
      Possible to run a wire from a battery straight to the wires to the motor and bypass the controller. It will only be a brushed motor. I will run on 12v or 22v

      @@DJSpannamanUK Mh, I've looked again at your pictures. It seems your V6 brush has another setup than mine! 😞I've removed every visible screw, but the motor can't be slided out of the casing. Maybe it's glued somewhere inside.

    I know your problem it's a DYSON I say strap a 3200kv Brushless motor in there hook it direct to a hobbywing max10 strap a 3s lipo to it and you'll have more power in the brush and it will lift up anything that's stuck to the floor
