      @@DIYwithMichaelBorders Yup....cleaned everything. Did a ton of cleaning prior to watching your video to see if I missed anything. I think the drum that actually turns the brush broke in some way. It happens. We've had this Dyson for going on 8yrs now, and we've replaced a few parts already (including the battery). So, if dropping $100 bucks on a new head buys me another couple of years, then I'll still be happy. Although, I could b*tch for a month about the battery life (even with the new battery). Is what it is, my friend. Kudos for this video, it looks like you helped a lot of people.👍

    • @phillamoore157
      @phillamoore157 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DIYwithMichaelBorders Yeah. That's one of the things I like about that company. There's not a whole lot you can't replace on those vacuum's. The wife and I weren't in a position to drop $500-700 on a new Dyson simply because of one part. So, if this new part buys me another few years, then it's money well spent. I'd be interested in knowing if anyone has the models with the better batteries to see how much run-time they're getting. That's my only complaint with Dyson.....and it's a big one. Even the new battery I swapped out only get's maybe 15min run time on "Max Suction". I'm using the V8 "Animal" model....

      Thanks for watching, have you verified head is clean and clear of all string, hair, debris…
      There can be dirt particles inside roller wheels as well. A major cleaning is recommended.

    • @jozefbubez6116
      @jozefbubez6116 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have dismantled and cleaned but things have taken a turn for the worse! For the age of the machine, there was a little dirt; would have expected more. Anyway, reassembled and brush spun but still a bit raspy but has now jammed so solidly that the roller cannot be removed. If I free the end, motor turns so that part seems OK. However it might be, it may be that there is some breakage inside the roller. If all else fails, may have to saw in two and get a new one.

      Hello Michael and many thanks!
      Managed to replace roller following surgery to remove old one. Turns out that the user regularly dunked the assembly in water to clean. Have explained that this is not a submersible item so hopefully the problem will not get worse.
      The cleaner is some years old and the model number label rather worn. There is a motor onto which the roller sits the drive being via a roll-pin at right angles to the shaft if this helps? At one end, there appears to be a sealed ball-race of some kind but difficult to access so I've given it a spray of light lube which has freed up the bearing sufficienly to enable the roller to spin consitently. I'm inclined to leave as is for now as it's not too obvious how to get to the bearing.

    Thanks for posting but not worked for me. Have two heads with brushes on; neither spins, with or without the extension tube in between the motor and the head. Leads me to believe power is not getting from the head to the brush. May invest in a new canister and see if that works but it's a gamble. All my connections on my Dyson V8 are very clean but no electricity is going down the wand (pipe) to the spinning brush (motor head).
    I switched the parts out with another V8 (various combinations) and the brush spins.
    The problem seems to be no electricity coming from the contacts on the main body to the canister which in turn feeds the wand.
    The motor runs the cyclone but there's no electricity going to the spinning brush.
