In this video, I want to talk about how to eat vegetables if you don’t like them. If you’re one of those people that just don’t like to eat vegetables, how can you get more in your diet?
You may not know this, but I am one of those people who doesn’t like vegetables-and yet I consume a lot of them.
So why don’t people like vegetables?
    1. They are time-consuming to prepare.
    2. They don’t taste that great.
    3. They don’t give you a lot of pleasure.
    4. They require a lot of chewing.
Despite these things, you have to consume vegetables for their:
    • Raw enzymes
    • Vitamins
    • Minerals
    • Fiber
    • And other nutrients
You have to consume vegetables if you want to fix liver damage, lose weight, and get healthy. At least half of which need to be raw vegetables. This may require a mindset change from eating only for pleasure to eating for your health or long-term pleasure.
One of the best ways to eat vegetables if you don’t like them is to drink them. I like to create a healthy drink and pack in a ton of vegetables. Here’s how:
    1. Take a blender and fill it halfway with water
    2. Take 7-8 cups of frozen kale and blend it in the water
    3. Take fruit (if you’re not trying to lose weight), flavored stevia, or instance kale shake (available on my online store) and blend it with the kale
    4. Enjoy

I’ve been whirring my vegetables for about 20 years. I load up the blender with all kinds of raw fruits and veggies and I do it pretty much every day. We go through an incredible amount of fruits and vegetables and we almost always consume them this way. I’m 60 and weigh about the same as I did in high school.

@Aria Frost I loved food, especially Chinese Food, homemade cookies, oreo cookies, lots of sandwiches with corn chips ect. Unfortunately my health has paid dearly for it. If you are healthy right now, it's better to start right now doing the things that will keep you that way. What's great is that you realize that will probably have to do something different, and that's half the battle.

Most people just don't want to put the amount of time and effort that it takes to do it... it's called consistency. Too many people today want to work at it inconsistently but yet they expect maximum results. They get impatient and start taking short cuts. That's when you run into trouble! You can't drink alcohol, party and eat junk Foods like they're going out of style.....it takes a healthy and nutritional Lifestyle!!! At one time in my younger years I also looked that fit but I deserted that lifestyle and now 35 years later at 71 I am in poor health and diabetic. All it takes is losing your focus just a little bit at the time and before you know it a lifetime has passed and you're suffering the consequences. I'm not complaining because it was my own choices that led up to my state today..... just saying!!! No disrespect meant here.

You actually can and you know what’s even better? You can have this ice cream for breakfast, dessert, lunch, or dinner (I mainly eat it for breakfast and dinner tbh) it is 4 cups frozen spinach, 1.5-2 frozen bananas a handful or frozen berries, some dairy free milk (I don’t consume dairy but if you do then you can definitely use cow milk), cocoa powder to your liking and mix the whole thing in a food processor! You can put in some maple syrup if you find it to not be sweet enough but I personally dont! Top it off with whatever you like my favorite combo is chia seeds, 3 pieces of dairy free tea biscuits

You really don't need stevia or other flavoured powders to make a kale shake palatable. Just add a small bunch of parsley - it takes away the bitterness and makes a very clean tasting kale smoothie. Better still, add a bit of lemon and avocado in there and enjoy!

Or, could add more greens like cucumbers, some chia seeds, 2 lemons (daily vitamin C and taste great) and / or lime, a tablespoon of Xylitol (better natural sugar replacement than even Stevia in my opinion because more health benefits).

I always felt tired, sick and almost died from low sodium. The years I could have been productive were gone because of their bad info. Thanks for being on TH-cam and making all this so available.

Have you ever tried swiss chard? I would rotate my green's, alternate spinach, swiss chard and sometimes kale. After a while I noticed that my favorite was the chard. I read online that it has the highest vitamin and mineral content. It helped me lose a lot of weight. I would also use half an apple, a whole avacado, freshly chopped pineapple that I would freeze and frozen dark cherries for inflammation. It's so good and filling. Definitely worth the try for anyone that can.

I lightly blanche my leafy deep greens in coconut oil with a touch of salt, and usually add either piñon, or walnuts, or pumpkin seeds. Can add poppy and chia seeds at the end if you like as well. Lightly brown your nut., Add leafy italian parsley and toss with a shot of balsamic vinegar in your serving bowl. I do that as a side of warm greens to change up salads and wraps. My husband enjoys it and he hates verges too, lol ")

I put blended salad veges on top of meat or noodles. I blend a slice tomato, a couple cups any green (usual spinach), garlic, onion, lemon juice, olive oil, water, salt & pepper, etc. These ingredients can change according to your taste buds. When it’s liquid I pour in over some noodles or whatever food. It taste great. Almost like making pesto or something.

The bitterness of kale can easily be masked by adding in 1/2 of a fresh lemon, 2-3 celery stalks, an inch of ginger, and a handful of spinach. I pretty much have this each and every day. I often add in a handful of unsalted toasted almonds, some chia or hemp seeds, and even a scoop of chlorella or spirulina. Add all of this to your NutriBullet, an ice cube or two, and bam, a very good tasting, nutritious start to the day.

have you ever wondered why our food labels are measured in grams, not oz, tsp, tblsp, or cups? Say for instance I'm eating TJ'CRACKERs right now. They say 21g of sugar. I'm thinking "Oh well it's just 21g of sugar" so I eat like 7 more mindlessly. I thought geez I wonder how much sugar that looks like in tsp /tbsp or something . So I converted g=tbsp , and 21 g =1/4 cup of sugar!!!! per serving!! 5tsp=21g wtf!
BTW thanks Dr. Berg. I visit your videos a lot, I appreciate your scientific approach, and using your education to bring forth facts known about nutrition

    • @francesinha9616

It's not a question of trying to fool anyone. The metric system is measuring food based on weight. It's consistent because it is in the form of a single unit. The English system is usually based on visual cues, like tsp, tbsp, cups. It's the same for feet and inches, yards, etc. You can imagine their volume which is handy but in weight you have no idea if you use only this system.

I watched some videos that say chewing is part of digestion so it should not be skip. Saliva has enzymes that release when we chew. Aside from that, the brain receives signals that there is food coming in and it signals our bile and stomach to work and release enzymes that our body needs to absorb the nutrients in our food. So chewing is not a bad thing. I believe it is essential for optimal health. I'm not also okay with instant powders because they contain sugar and unnatural ingredients such as anti-caking, preservatives, and food coloring.
Also, biochemical is easily oxidized when exposed. And that is meant to happen inside of our body, not on a blender.

I make large batches of fresh juice and freeze it in pint mason jars for use as needed. My basic juice is cukes, celery, lemon, beets, ginger, garlic, carrots and one apple. Of course for Keto, I'd omit the apple, and sometimes I vary the veggies, but the point being you can juice whatever you like. I can get down plenty of veggies this way. I also want to add blending but haven't done that yet. Gotta get that fiber too! Once in a while I actually eat cooked veggies! (Major gut issues so I have to be cautious).

So strange seeing him back then.
I just started watching his videos late 2021 and he seems a lot more focused now, present, healthier.
    Very interesting.

Another thing I do is make a morning smoothie: 8 oz water, a small handful almonds, a small green apple, a shot of lemon juice, and a generous handful of deep leafy greens. Add a little ice if you prefer. Keeps it real and tastes good. Quality Powders, I guess, are ok but I like to keep my stuff as whole food sourced as possible.

My hack for sweetening is to buy (true) cinnamon bark (not cassia bark) and pop it into a jar of filtered water. I use this sweetened water in my kale shake and top up my jar. Highly economical and you will be surprised by the nutrients. Go ahead and research cinnamon and you will leave the 'other' expensive sweeteners alone.

Pineapple juice is great to add to green smoothies to consume them delicious. Ice added after makes a big difference

+Darby Dupree You really don't need stevia or other flavoured powders to make a kale shake palatable. Just add a small bunch of parsley - it takes away the bitterness and makes a very clean tasting kale smoothie. Better still, add a bit of lemon and avocado in there and enjoy!
