    Honestly, we need more affordable new cars such as this, most of the market is going towards Crossovers, SUVs, Pickups, mostly utility vehicles which are fine if you need them, but there's nothing wrong with basic transportation cars such as the Mirage.

      I drive 170 miles round trip, Monday thru Friday and at all hours of the day. I can tell beyond a shadow of a doubt that 95% of the idiots I see in these behemoths are mostly just commuting (because I routinely see the same ones over & over) & with one occupant in the vehicle, they most certainly don’t need it. I guess they don’t remember $4.00+ per gallon for gas we had a few short years ago. You couldn’t hardly give an SUV or a full-size pickup away. They were sitting everywhere for sale. That’s our population of lemmings for ya.

    You can actually get 50 MPG highway and 43 city. This is the last TRUE subcompact vehicle sold in America, now that Chevrolet is killing the Spark. This car makes a LOT OF SENSE for people that can spend 12-13k on a new car with a good warranty. Good job Mitusbishi for still selling basic affordable cars for the everyday man /woman. I have a 2015 Mirage (with CVT) with 180.000 miles that I bought for my driving school. It gave me GREAT service, so I bought a 2021 Mirage in Dec 2021 for use with my school, as well. The 2021 already has 40,000 mi (in just 10 months). Have had no issues whatsoever. Mix of city/highway. GREAT mileage if you don't have a headwind. 42-48 mpg mixed use is common for me, even with lots of stop and go. Biggest issue for me is when practicing parallel parking, the power steering motor overheats fairly quickly making it hard to turn. Honestly, the biggest reason I bought this car is because of its simplicity. It is still a car that a shade tree mechanic like me can still work on. That alone saves tons of money. Since the car is relatively underpowered, the CVT works without issue. Keep up the maintenance schedule, though. I also changed tires to 175's for a bit more width. Helps lessen pothole impact on those 14" wheels a little bit. Overall, a decent car for the price. I would definitely buy another!

    I found a 2015 Mirage 5 speed for $4,000. It didn't need a thing for state inspection as it was well maintained.
    It has a timing chain, not a belt which means it's going to last. The structure is high tensile steel, so its safe.
    Took it on a highway run and it got 50mpg.

  • @ImprintImpressionzRC
    @ImprintImpressionzRC 2 ปีที่แล้ว +26

    I have the same 2021 es trim with the 5 speed manual and mine came with the factory carbon fiber front, side, and rear air dams body kit. It get way better gas mileage than the sticker says. I'm averaging 49.6 miles to the gallon on the Interstate with speeds varying from 70-75mph. I average around 42-43 in the city. It also tells you on the dash what your average gas mileage is. I absolutely love mine. Granted it's not the sportiest or fanciest sub compact out there but I bought it because of the gas mileage, price point, and the warranty.

    Dad and his wife both have 2017 mirage's. One is a manual and the other is the cvt. She is able to get 40+ mpg and dad is getting 50+ on average (dad has a Lightfoot and loves to see the high numbers FYI). They are good little a to b cars for more rural areas. Dad has taken his on trips out of state and says it does good. It's not going to impress you with its sufficient power, the base stereo or cheaper interior plastics, but fit and finish is decent and they are a relatively comfortable car to drive. They have had no issues for almost 60,000 miles and have been saving a lot on fuel. If you live in a city or a rolling Hill rural area, these cars will do just fine. If you live in a very hilly area with long steep grades, you may want to consider something with a little more horsepower or plan on being patient.

The Mirage G4 has a different sound especially inside, but even outside somewhat, not sure why. Also the SE styling makes it look sportier than it is with all the upgrades like 15 inch 2 tone alloy wheels, projector led headlights, fog lights, led turn signals in mirrors and then adding the $995.00 exterior package with the front side and rear color keyed body extensions with simulated carbon fiber pattern trim with red striping really stands out. Looks pretty good for an economy subcompact and especially when compared to the base ES trim the SE looks way better especially in person.

      @driftlesshunter9200 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What is your rationale for needing more horsepower? I've own three vehicles in the past that had less horsepower than a Mirage. It's an economy car. I love the 5-speed manual powertrain in the Mirage. The charm is the 3-cylinder engine. Super dependable & easy to work on. If you put a 100 hp engine in a Mirage & gave up its great fuel economy, I would buy something else. Those cars already exist. If horsepower is important to you, buy a Honda Fit (130 hp) or a Yaris. Oh yeah, those higher horsepower cars have been pulled from the North American market. I guess you would have to buy a used one.

      The charm is its 78 hp 3-cylinder engine. Why ruin a good thing? If someone is so stuck on horsepower, buy a used 100+ horsepower Fit, Yaris, or whatever. I've owned 3 vehicles with less horsepower than a Mirage (many years ago). Learn how to drive a manual, & the Mirage is a hoot to drive! I can mow grass with my old 3.5 horsepower push mower. The lawn doesn't look any different using a 5.5 horsepower push mower. You just sweat more pushing the heavier machine across the lawn. People are so stuck on horsepower these days. That's why companies are pushing so much turbo crap on the market these days. The Mirage is different, & I love that!
