I’m tired of this car getting dissed by so called “experts”. It’s a car. Not a plane or a limo or a lambo. It’s cheap so what. Affordable for most people. Myself included. I love my ‘23 Mirage. It runs & takes me where I need to go. Period. Love the little guy.
Our only complaint was the lack of power sometimes seems dangerous. We were pleasantly surprised with the interior space!!
I have drove mine 4,500 miles, and even up 6% grades on the freeway it feels good to me. I am a slow driver though. But I came from a V8 Cadillac to this, and I like driving this more. @@AmericanVsImports
Most of these reviewers have never lifted a wrench to a car in their lives, so they don't fully appreciate the simplicity and space you have under the hood to do all sorts of things on this car, and the cover for the fuel pump is right under the rear seat and really easy to get to. We have to remember that back in the day Volkswagen sold millions of VW Beetles that had about half the power of this car and no air conditioning and no cruise control, and yet people bought so many of them that they were the most popular car in world history. So glad you like your little car, there are many people who do. Thanks for your comment.
I have owned 3. I buy a new car every 2 to 3 years and never have I bought the same car twice until the Mirage. It won me over. I have owned alot of new vehicles since driving with the cheapest new one being a 2002 Kia Rio with an MSRP around $10,000.00 and the most expensive being a 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SEL Touring with an MSRP close to $34,000.00 and the Mirage was my favorites. I was nervous to buy my 2015 Mirage new when I did because all the awful reviews. I trusted my gut and went for it and so glad I did. Great little cars, feature packed, long warranty and if you want a low payment and are looking to buy used dont and get a new Mirage instead while you still can because it will last you, save you on gas, be super easy to repair and work and give you a long warranty. Just keep up maintenance and you will have a great car. I owned a 2015 Mirage ES, 2017 Mirage G4 SE and a 2021 Mirage SE. All were top trims for each year I purchased. As far as power goes its like 6-8 seconds faster 0-60 mph than a large Chevy Caprice on Motor Weeks testing back in the day or over 8 seconds faster 0-60 mph than a Pontiac 1000! Check out the reviews on Motor Week its cool. Cars were so much slower in the 70s and 80s and no one had issues. People expect to much or cars today and in turn the prices are outrageous. I remember buying a loaded 2010 Kia Soul Exclaim in 2010 when they came out and it was just under $20,000.00 now a loaded top trim Kia Soul GT-Line with option package goes for around $28,000.00 a $8,000.00 jump. Sure its much more refined, way more features and safety features. Heck even the Mirage when I bought my first new 2015 Mirage ES with the optional nav and back up cam package, bodyside moldings and exterior package its MSRP was $17,955.00 and then when I bought my 2021 Mirage SE with the exterior package its MSRP was like $19,300.00 but the dealer added a few things bringing its sticker on the door to $20,400.00 but I got money off. The best deal was my 2017 Mirage G4 SE I got new that had an MSRP of $18,115.00 and I got it brand new for under $13,000.00 due to the $2,000.00 factory rebate and dealer discounts! You cant get those discounts today but you can still get a new Mirage ES base model which are now pretty loaded for in the $17,000.00 range or a top trim really decked out and loaded Mirage SE for under $20,000.00 and by todays standards thats super cheap. This car is perfect for what it is. If you want a cheap as possible new car go with the base ES if you want a loaded one with led headlights, auto high beams, heated seats, lane departure warning, 15 inch alloys, push start, nicer plaid seats, nicer gauges and interior trim, and more go with the top trim SE and you are still under $20,000.00. I never had any issues with my Mirages. My co worker owned her 2015 Mirage for 5.5 years and has had her 2021 Mirage G4 SE for 3.5 years and no issues. I drove Mirages for 8 years and never had a situation where I couldn’t get up to speed fast enough. It could travel ai-68 going up steep mountain grades and hold 70 mph no issues with its CVT. What you get for the price is amazing in features. The 3A92 engine in this car is bulletproof and has seen many reach over 200,000 miles no issue and even one 2014 Mirage ES CVT online with 414,000 miles traded in at a Mitsubishi dealer on another 2020 Mirage GT they liked it so much. It had no issues when traded. These are basic no frills, get great mpg, have a long warranty, bet tons a features and so one. Its cool Mitsubishi gave people the choice to get a basic one or a top trim SE loaded with stuff. Its a shame its being cancelled out.
@@AmericanVsImports if you want to see slow, drive a 80s Mercedes Diesel or VW Diesel, even with a Turbo, the Mirage would leave those in the dust, even with a lot of American/Japanese cars in the 1980s
Unlike he said, this car, the Mitsubishi Mirage, has enough power to get you on the highway, it will do it slower than other cars but it can go on the highway.
Important car for those earning minimum wage, if this car is out it almost removes the middle class out of the market.
it's not super fancy or powerful but it's extremely economical and efficient with generous warranty. I personally am happy with mine
I just got one, new. It’s more than enough for the streets of Philadelphila, Pa. The gas mileage is insane. Better that my Smart Car that got wacked in the rear. I’m 6 ft, 220. I fit fine. The plastic is fine with me. A washcloth wet with water and you can clean the dust in a snap. The power thing is over played. Philadelphila has cameras everywhere so how fast you gonna go? Let’s face it, in the city, you don’t need a lot of power. Unless you are 17 and trying to impress someone. I don’t see a problem on the highway. My Smart never had an issue going 90 miles to Wildwood NJ. It handed I95 with no effort at all. I took out the headrest in the Smart and this car as well. I don’t have people to cart around. I did some reading a few years ago. If I recall, this car is part Yaris. They share some of the same parts. With global warming, heated seats are a waste to me. I wanted an arm rest but couldn’t get it. Yea, it’s Plane Jane but it gets you there cheap and that’s what I wanted. It’s an Econobox. You want an race car? Cough up the cash. You want a Limousine? Cough up the cash. I paid cash. I’m not wealthy but the banks can choke for all I care. I never had an issue with my Smart Car. Small cars in America take a lot of crap from the Car Media. I don’t buy the reliability thing. Lots of owners on TH-cam love them.
Some dealers are doubling the manufactuerers powertrain warranty and I've heard of lifetime warranty from a dealership in OH. It has to be reliable.
You can get the armrest from Mitsubishi after a few weeks in my 23 es had to get it makes all the difference pretty easy to install if you're handy and comes with all the hardware
They're great cars, don't listen to this kid he has no historical frame of reference to go by. Years ago I had a little Ford Festiva that I absolutely loved and people thought that car was a joke too unless you owned one and then you loved it. Best of luck with your Mirage, and many many happy miles to you.
I am very impressed in the power the engine has. It's not too slow actually. I drove around with the AC on, 4 people in the car, and it was nice. I am looking for one.
Get it! I have one and have no problem merging into hwy with 4 adults! I mean it slow but there’s low gear and Ds mode
I got one on September 27th. In about 60 days, I've put 4,500 miles on it. It's awesome! Been getting 46.8 MPG across all the fill ups I've done. And on the freeway it tends to get 60+ MPG. @@edgaryzen4925
It's overall a good efficient economical car
In Europe , her name is Space Star.
I will buy one next year. It's simply the best!)
I'm from Bucharest, Europe-Romania
All the best !)
You forgot to mention if it also had Android Auto...not every one has an iPhone
It does.
I bought the ralliart mirage. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter what other people say. What matters is if you like the car
I have a 2015 and have driven from Fort Worth Texas to San Francisco California and back twice and it has over 112,000 miles on it now. No problem whatsoever with the car. Wouldn’t trade it for the world!
Bought mine in June of 2016 as a 2017 model. Never had an issue with it. Has about 55,000 miles now and expect to keep it for a long time.
Odd. what make you so sure that this car is far less reliable than other car out there? Lot of owners say/share the opposite experience, myself included as I own the MIrage sedan top trim level.
Do you have issues with finding tires?
@@TheTyrial86 for what size?
edgaryzen4925: What planet is this dude from? Wow! ♐
It is easy finding tires for the Mirage. There are several brands that sell the tire size.
I had a 2018 mirage when I had a long commute to work. Mine was a manual and averaged 45+mpg on the highway.
It was exactly what i needed.
Great little car
An inexpensive second car with very good guarantee on powertrain and with reasonable care should last for 10 years or more, most journeys for city dwellers are about 5 to 10 miles, not a lot.
With the price of gas and almost everything going up, I need a new econocar like this Mirage for city driving only. I am retired and only travel about 25 miles or less in a day.
I think any modern car built today can last 10 years or more if it's properly maintained and not abused.
I drive 9 miles to work, in the city of Philadelphila. It says 44.5 mpg on days I catch all the lights. I go to work at 4am so catching the lights is common for me. I’ll take that mpg any day.
Higher trim level do come with the lane departure warning and collision mitigation system.
@@reramu only FCW for some trim levels
More systems to fail. I like to control my own car and not have a computer do it for me.
I love it. Basic transportation that's affordable. The nice part of being the original owner is you know the service history. Keep up on the oil changes and cooling system maintenance and you'll easily get your money's worth out of that car.
If I wasn’t a car guy, this is the car I would get and that’s not a bad thing!
I'm a car guy and I bought the ralliart mirage. At the end of the day it doesn't matter what other people say. What matters is if you like the car
I'm a car guy and bought this one because it's the easiest car to work on from the current millennium, so far I did all the maintenance myself and I enjoy working on it, no BS frustration. This car is going against the current trend where most manufacturer puts barrier to discourage you from working on it, I think it's the only car available today that still has a transmission dipstick, very refreshing. If you are a car guy and the car is easy to maintain and inspect, it will last a very long time.
@c-sfrancoeu1883 I agree and that is one of the reasons why I like this car
If you remove the backseats, spare tire/ jack, cargo screen and only fill it up half way you will gain the equivalent of +4 hp. That might seem funny but you really can feel the difference!
Better get one before the end of 2024 because Mitsubishi is discontinuing the model at the end of 2024. Kia Rio dead after this year.
With all do respect! You said that you consider yourself a "Car Guy" But you dint know about the Mirage?? Maybe you should consider a different live of work! Just sayin..
Valid argument. OP obviously showed bias. Not a good look
Right and he said the Kia Niro was a competitor of the Mirage. The Niro is a compact SUV. The Rio is a competitor of the Mirage
The car is basic and reliable…The problem I have is at $20,000- it’s more cost conscious to purchase a used 10-15 year old Toyota that with just basic oil changes and brake pads will cost $10,000 or less and still last another 10+years!
The Kia Niro is not a competitor of the Mirage. Its a compact SUV/Crossover with an MRSP of 26K . The Kia Rio competes with the Mirage. Btw the Kia and the Chevy Spark is not more reliable than the Mirage
this car is awesome for the price woah
The KIa Nero is NOT this cars competition. Maybe you meant Rio?
How tall are you, OP?
Yes
I think the Kia it competes with is the Rio. The Niro is electric or hybrid. Also I didn't see an armrest. No armrest? C'mon!
first impression is this review seems to be too negative instead of actually looking at the car for what it is. like it is very obvious he doesnt like the car and whole review sounds biased. tbh for that price thats a really good option!
Awesome 2nd car. Or credit rebuild car, with warranty……
78 horse power ! 78 !
They just canned it and our insurance rate doubled. We have a 20 Mirage and a 21 Mustang GT the Mirage is now twice as much as a V8 two door;( sadly looking to trade ours now.
Twice as much insurance? Price? _Horsepower??_
@@karlgustov9648 base model $250 a month for insurance now.
Can no longer by Mitsubishi cars in the UK.
I will give a gamer's perspective on this car.
For example you play fortnite or warframe.
A nintendo switch will be able to play fortnite and warframe.
A ps5 on the other hand will give you better graphics.
So if you are just looking for a car with great mpg to go from point a to point be you might want to check this car out. Just dont expect this car to perform like a corolla or civic because this is a mirage.
You can get a used lancer in decent condition for less than that spit ball of a car. Do car companies really think we are that stupid?
15k for a new car with an outstanding warranty?
