    Lol to see the Mirage still doing its thing! 25 years ago I was a broke college student and all I could afford new was a Mitsu Mirage. The thing was so reliable I don't even think I put oil in it for 80K miles...(joking). :-) Inexpensive transportation that will run longer than you want to keep driving it.

    Just traded my 2019 in on a 2022 because I loved the updated design. I don’t have any proof but, it seems noticeably quieter than the 2019. Great little vehicle. FYI, armrests & driving lights can be had in the parts department. Along with all weather mats, trunk/hatch liners and much more.

    They should've just made a redesigned version rather than a facelift. Like, come on Mitsubishi. We know it works but it's about time you give the Mirage and Mirage G4 a new design.

    • @barryervin8536
      @barryervin8536 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This car is designed for Asian, South American and African markets, where people aren't obsessed with "Newness" and won't even notice that the door handles are "old fashioned" and the styling is not "The Latest Thing". Mitsubishi is offering it in North America for the relatively small number of buyers who want a small, simple and inexpensive vehicle. That may not last long however, since Mitsubishi has already departed from Europe due to lack of customer interest. Something to keep in mind if the 10 year/100,000 mile warranty is a big factor in your prospective purchase. I wouldn't mind driving one but I'd have to get a VERY good deal on one before I'd take a chance on owning an orphan in a year or so. For $18,000, no way.

    • @kobayashiharuno
      @kobayashiharuno 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@barryervin8536 i wouldn't really mind buying a Mirage or Mirage G4 especially i'm from the Philippines and used examples of those 2 are pretty cheap and parts are pretty much everywhere even if you don't bring it to a dealership to do maintenance and repairs, but some of its competitors are slowly redesigning away from being an aging vehicle(s). (Toyota Vios, Hyundai Accent, Honda City, Suzuki Ciaz and Dzire, Kia Rio hatch) (And yes, the Nissan Almera is an aging vehicle here)
      And the prices for the 2021 models of those 2 cars are only rising, surprisingly.

    • @barryervin8536
      @barryervin8536 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      From what I understand, the Mirage is a big seller in the Philippines, to the point that Mitsubishi has built a new factory there to build them. The ones we get here in the US are all built in Thailand. The problem with constantly "updating and upgrading" a cheap car is that changing body panels and major components costs millions of dollars in new tooling, which raises the price of the car to a level that the potential buyers won't pay.

      Apple CarPlay and android auto to every trim and should update the odometer and more side bolstering and give it more horsepower cuz 78 hp is not enough for a 21 mirage

    Mitsubishi will still try to over sell you on the cheapest model like the ES Model which cost $13,999 but the actual price is $7,999 🤣. So after financing it will be $18,999. Just go buy a Hyundai Elentra or Corolla. Don't pay over $13,999

    $18K!?!?! This is a bottom-of-the-barrel car and literally ANY other economy car on the market is a better choice. Kia Rio, Hyundai Accent, Chevrolet Spark, Nissan Versa. I test drove a new Mirage and it was literally the worst new car I ever drove. Terrible handling, loud thrashy engine, and a mile long list of other shortcomings. This car was developed for emerging markets and it is woefully out of it's league in the competitive US market.

      Until you hit the gas ⛽ pedal and get 50+ mpg. Then you suddenly realize the Mirage's mission in today's world.

    • @thetinysideoftiny7625
      @thetinysideoftiny7625 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@warpos That's a completely fair statement Jose. However, the rest of the car is just SO bad that it's hard to feel good about 50mpg. I ended up with a brand new 2017 Spark 5-speed manual with 40+mpg and it's a vastly better vehicle than the Mirage. Look at the NCAP ESC test on the Mirage. The handling is so sloppy and unstable that they attached outriggers to it. No outriggers on the Honda Fit or similar small cars.
      I've owned lots of 80's Civic's and CRX's and seriously, the Spark is a modern 4th generation Civic hatchback. The handling is extremely good for a bare bones economy car (.84G on the skid pad), the steering is quick and nicely weighted, the suspension communicates splendidly, it's solidly planted and tracks like a little slot car. I'd also mention that the 5-speed manual is Honda-good. Lastly, great build quality and super fun to drive. I belong to a Spark FB page and the second US generation Sparks (2016 - 2021+) are clocking reliable space shuttle miles. We have several that have surpassed the 200,00 and 300,000 mile mark without any major issues. The front ball joints sometimes wear around 120K and need replaced on some, and an occasional CVT issue, but literally that's it for "issues". My only personal complaint is road noise on coarsely textured road surfaces. The most shocking part of all is that I bought the Spark brand new for $10,100 OTD. This little go-kart is an absurd value. If you're looking for a joyless, drone-bee commuter, buy the Mirage and enjoy 50mpg. Otherwise, buy the Spark and and have a Mario-Kart commute each and every day ;-)

      @@thetinysideoftiny7625 yes it shares it's slick Daewoo Ecotec based heart with the Matiz, which is the Spark origin, the Daewoo Lanos, the Aveo (owned 4), Sonic (owned one and left to son for college) and Cruze (a real headache being an oversize and stressed Sonic, a real Nubira/Leganza son). Is a great lineage. Just take care of your car oil cooler, frequent thermostats and coil failures, valve cover leaks, overheating issues due to water pump failures (remember, it's has real Daewoo genes) and coolant reservoir and cap fails. Countless electrical problems. Been there 😑 came back. My Mirage have Nissan heritage, so. I won't really care about drifting and knowing G,s anymore. Hahaha Jose, you got me lol. Didn’t know you’ve owned so many GM / Daewoo vehicles.
      I sold brand new Daewoo’s back in the late 90’s. The Lanos hatch was a decent little car. The Nubira and Leganza seemed ok too. You still see them occasionally here in AZ.
      Guess I’m just smitten with how far they’ve come. The Spark has exceeded my expectations in every possible way. Korean cars are exponentially better than they were 20 years ago.
