    Betsy: you see that?!
    Elsie: she said her foot was hurting
    Betsy: oh... that looks bad
    Elsie: yeah, but Nate is good. He fixed up Maeve real good last fall
    Betsy: yeesh... but still!
    Elsie: yeah

    Hi Nate, I find hoof trimming fascinating and follow 3 other trimmers. IMO, you have the most precise knife skills. You are patient and don't swipe at the claw as other trimmers do. You're a joy to watch.

      Let me guess - the hoof gp, tec TV, and the Midwestern hoof trimmer (it's something like that, I know it's the Midwest something or other), but yeah, Nate here definitely seems the best of the bunch, I guess that is to say if I was a cow and had any choice in the matter I would choose to go to Nate the Hoof Guy 👍

    Yes, I was paying attention to you Nate. I always pay attention. You are so explanatory with great detail and information. But my point of comment begins at 5:50 into the video. I was watching the curious, concerned gossipers in the background. It was quite funny! The 2 curious gals were worried about their friend! They were probably wondering what you were doing to her. Speculating back 'n forth, running possibilities by each other. As well as debating as to who was going to walk over to check up on the friend. You even see what seems to be the one comforting the other's concerns. Then, finally, what seems to be the more outgoing braver one takes the first steps to walk over to her friend who is within this big contraption to check up on her. AS you film the gal with the ulcer walking out of the shoot, it also seems like the braver gal with concerns was at the end of the crush waiting for her wanting to hear aaalll about it! I just thought the little scenario that played out was cute.

    Hi Nate, So, when trimming the tow back to a normal length is appears as though you are trimming into, &, or across the white line on the very tip of the hoof. I’m my head I start thinking of separation and weakening outer support. Would you be able to elaborate when you have a moment.

    • @NatetheHoofGuy
      @NatetheHoofGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The reason it appears that way is because I leave additional sole thickness. If I were to take that sole down further my cuts would be outside the whiteline. If I were actually cutting past the whiteline then I would draw blood as inside the whiteline is the corium. You’re not really compromising support by trimming the toe (unless you remove more than necessary) because the weight is transferred inside the foot via the laminae and distributed throughout the dorsal wall. Here’s a video I did regarding toe length that may explain a bit more. th-cam.com/video/ZpAAK0PvIF4/w-d-xo.html
