Recently found out the original plan was for Harvey to appear in TDKR as well, with his transformation not coming until then. That definitely wouldve felt a lot less rushed..

Most spider-man stories do not focus on his powers but on the situations in which he finds himself in his two identities, and these comics show that he can be versatile in genres other than superheroes.
    Romance: spider-man blue
    Horror: web of spider-man #31
Comedy: the superior foes of spider-man #2
Spy Thriller: the amazing spider-man (Vol 4) #2
    Tragedy: the amazing spider-man 248
Action: the amazing spider-man Annual #1
Supernatural: the amazing spider-man: soul of the hunter
    Crime: ultimate spider-man #9
Tony Stark may not be a truly virtuous or completely selfless superhero but no one can deny that his alter ego iron man fits the mold of a daring knight, even if he had to rely on a spear and a horse instead of repulsor rays with ease could be the heroic knight of a fantasy genre story, there is no doubt that stark would be a hit among the damsels and iron man's battles with the mandarin show that he can defend himself against an enemy with magical powers.

Not really the "only" Batman is a serious hero it requires a more serious aproach to it, same with the punisher and many others, watchmen was serious, spiderman is not that of course you have to embrace the fun part.

Great video, but you failed to acknowledge my personal favourite - Mask of the Phantasm

Thank you! I think that one deserves its own video alongside a deep dive into Batman: The Animated Series.

A lot of fans say Mask of the phantasm is the only movie that honored the comics & the folklore the most.

What a joyless person you must be to think superheroes need to be serious.

Not denying the “joyless person” part, but I did say Marvel’s genius move was embracing the ridiculousness of it all, so I definitely don’t think superheroes need to be serious. On the contrary, they’re inherently cheesy and cartoonish and there’s nothing wrong with that.
But if you want to make a serious film and not just a superhero film, Batman is the way to go.

@@BigFilmRev “swinging around like an idiot”. What do you think Spider-Man is? What are expecting from these movies. This video is just teenage edgelord angst.

You might be taking this video a bit too seriously yourself. I said you can't make a serious Spider-Man film. I never said I expected otherwise or that I hated that about the character or that "all superhero films should be serious."
The fact that later I gave Marvel props for understanding that about their characters should prove that I am not against it at all.
