my first movie I watched of Karl Urban was from his horror/action movie DOOM alongside The Rock when I was a kid, I didnt know Karl Urban cuz I wanted to watch it cuz of the Rock. But from that Movie thats when I liked Karl Urban and I loved the DOOM movie, despite people hating the movie due to it not being close to the original DOOM game. IMO, the movie was very good if it was its own movie, just maybe not a very good DOOM movie. I myself wasnt really aware of DOOM being a game at the time. so i had no issue with it. But after watching Dredd when it first came out. I was blown by that movie, I loved it. Just wished it had a sequal
I met him at a Star Trek convention. Unlike some actors who expect to be treated like little gods, Karl was friendly and chatty. When he realised people were queuing up for his autograph, he came out early so we didn’t have to wait so long.

It *killed* me when Almost Human was cancelled. I loved that show! It is an absolute delight to watch a video extolling the virtues of Karl Urban. I've loved him as an actor for decades. He deserves waaaaaay more attention and praise than he gets.

I met Karl back in the 2000's in NZ, we only hung out a couple of times but he was the nicest and most humble and interesting people I've ever met. So much respect for this man and will watch anything he's in.
Yeah it's honestly in the top 200 to come out between 2010 til Now. It still holds up and I think it will always hold up. The thing that doesn't hold up is the Sequel we all want.
It came out at the wrong time and the right time. It was a remake of an already bad movie that no one remembers, and it came out just when the MCU was kicking into gear.

I just realized Ive been watching this dude play characters for the last 20 years for which I was sure till this day were different actors. Thats why since forever, to me, his name is so familiar and his appearance as well. But I never knew exactly why. He is one of the rare actors to not have the most common problem that actors have today. Being associated with one role so hard, that no one can see you as anything else anymore.

I was so upset when Fox killed His cop show Almost Human. I tried to follow it week after week. Then after it all aired and was on Hulu, I looked up the episode order and rewatched it and loved it even more. Karl Urban has a way of melting into a role, and you don't notice it is him a lot of the time.

The SiFi tv series Almost Human with Urban and Elay was a refreshing experience Urban's take on his flawed human character made you wonder who really was the robot.

We went in fully knowing what to expect, and we screamed for 5 minutes when they went full FPS. Great time. Silly for anyone treating it as anything other than a ride.

I love these movies...not a big action fan but sci-fi/fantasy/thrillers? For sure. Never pay attention to reviews. Watch the movies for yourselves. Half the time I see movies that critics or fans hate and/or don't perform at the box office, I end up surprised and even loving them.
the Chronicles of Riddick was great, didnt matter how cringe some of the dialogue was it was a very good and entertaining scifi, Doom wasnt bad and holds up pretty decent, the Dread remake was actually amazing.

The Price of Milk was priceless. Totally enjoyed the film. Plus, his interpretation of Dr. McCoy is wonderful. He stayed true to the character while adding his spin on it.

Dredd is the best comic adaptation ever made. It manages a very fine line between gritty realism and silly over the top comic book. The movie was simple, elegant and the well edited making it interesting all through without overstaying its welcome. If the same cast and crew was involved it would make a perfect single season 10-ep show.
I think Karl was just born out of time. Send him back 50 yrs & the roles he'd be perfect for? Every early Eastwood role! Hope his career is just as great as Clints
I first saw Karl in Doom. For such a silly movie, I was so impressed with his determination to make the project work. From that day on I promised to watch every movie he did. I’m so happy he’s getting the recognition he deserves 🥰
Éomer bow to Aragorn at the end of the RotK gives me chills for some reason every time i watch it. With Aragorn singing , Éomer big and tough guy , giving respect to someone who really earned it. Fun fact : I watched Doom and Pathfinder countless times :D
I've been talking up Karl Urban for years. He can do anything. LOTR, Star Trek, Bourne Supremacy, Red, Dredd, the list goes on. I laughed my ass off when I saw him in Star Trek, playing Doctor McCoy, when he first meets Kirk. He channeled DeForest Kelly, which I didn't expect at all. Just NAILED the role by providing the familiarity of the original and adding his own approach.
The thing with Karl Urban is he is a very handsome guy, but he is able to be the hard-faced intimidating type, best shown in his backlog of Bad Guy characters. Personally, I watch Hercules and Xena in my teen years, so I recognised Karl in LotR, and then the next significant movie I saw him in was Star Trek. My mother is a fan of the Bourne series. I am not actually a huge movie watcher, but I really respect Urban's career.
Love Karl. My first see of him was LOTR I had a huge crush at age 13 so looked at past and post LOTR ( by the time I saw it) works and realized he was a fantastic actor too. loved Doom and Dredd. Have enjoyed almost everything Karl Urban has been in and the very few I haven't liked... I enjoyed his performance so there is that. Then there is Billy Butcher... hell ya.
He was doing an interview at home for the boys tv series and the enthusiasism he had when showing the stuff he got from filming was of epic geek proportions!! He genuinely love talking about the things!!
DOOM was a good movie. It wasnt perhaps DOOM apart from the first person shooter scene but it was a great thriller with a solid story and characters aswel as actors.
OOOO I looked him up on Google when I saw LOTR and he rode up on that horse with that long blonde hair and THOSE EYES. WHEW,,, AND THEN STAR TREK!!! LOVED him in the role of BONES. LOVED IT. I do have trouble getting used to his ACTUAL accent though, Still look for him in movies, etc. I won't watch a monster/horror movie but anything else is on my watch list with HIM IN IT.
I 100% agree with everything in this vid. The man is simply underrated and even in small parts he brought so much life to any character he would play. He is Impressive to a fault and I cant hink of a role he did that was bad at all. some of the movies were but his characters even small roled ones were stand outs. Red floped hard without him in it. The boys would not even be watchable without him in it, he practically took command in every scene I saw him play in Lord of the rings. and he's not wooden. Every character he does is way different from another one. Macoy and Eoamere are so polarized against one another.. he is just so good weather playing a lead role or a bit one thit hius man n itself should be a draw for any movie.
There's 3 things that get you parts in Hollywood. 1. Who you know 2. Your name value (though budget dependent) 3. Being a yes man and not to close to the source, don't want someone who will disagree with them and cause issue with their direction.
Star Trek was good but I wasn't hooked at that point. I just found out about Urban's Dredd right now. Almost Human was the first time I really became a fan of him as an actor, and the way that show died was very regrettable. It had so much potential and a lot of the episodes were great on their own.

I love these movies...not a big action fan but sci-fi/fantasy/thrillers? For sure. Never pay attention to reviews. Watch the movies for yourselves. Half the time I see movies that critics or fans hate and/or don't perform at the box office, I end up surprised and even loving them.
the Chronicles of Riddick was great, didnt matter how cringe some of the dialogue was it was a very good and entertaining scifi, Doom wasnt bad and holds up pretty decent, the Dread remake was actually amazing.
Almost Human was a huge sleeper. Both actors were amazing.

The Price of Milk was priceless. Totally enjoyed the film. Plus, his interpretation of Dr. McCoy is wonderful. He stayed true to the character while adding his spin on it.
Dredd is easily one of the best cyberpunk movies ever made, he’s right the movie wasn’t marketed well, the quality and vibe of the movie was better most movies that come out today

Karl Urban has been part of my childhood since LoTR. His Dreed is underrated to this day. I stayed for the whole 28 mins and 40 secs man. good video.

It would make a perfect follow up project, to get the Boys fans to follow on with a different violent comic book adaption.

Love Karl Urban. He was everywhere for the last 30 years in all the genres I like. From great movies to straight to video to TV. I respected that he jumped mediums and he was always good in whatever he did. Love the Boys. Loved Dredd. Hated the cancelling of Almost Human. Love you Karl. Big Fan.
Almost Human was a pretty good series too. I was pretty sad it was cancelled.
Dredd is the best comic adaptation ever made. It manages a very fine line between gritty realism and silly over the top comic book.
The movie was simple, elegant and the well edited making it interesting all through without overstaying its welcome.
If the same cast and crew was involved it would make a perfect single season 10-ep show.
I don’t remember when I noticed Karl Urban but to me he has always been around. Always be relevant. And always been soooo good. Love him.

I've been talking up Karl Urban for years. He can do anything. LOTR, Star Trek, Bourne Supremacy, Red, Dredd, the list goes on. I laughed my ass off when I saw him in Star Trek, playing Doctor McCoy, when he first meets Kirk. He channeled DeForest Kelly, which I didn't expect at all. Just NAILED the role by providing the familiarity of the original and adding his own approach.
The thing with Karl Urban is he is a very handsome guy, but he is able to be the hard-faced intimidating type, best shown in his backlog of Bad Guy characters.
Personally, I watch Hercules and Xena in my teen years, so I recognised Karl in LotR, and then the next significant movie I saw him in was Star Trek. My mother is a fan of the Bourne series.
I am not actually a huge movie watcher, but I really respect Urban's career.
Love Karl. My first see of him was LOTR I had a huge crush at age 13 so looked at past and post LOTR ( by the time I saw it) works and realized he was a fantastic actor too. loved Doom and Dredd. Bones was fantastic.

Dredd.. with Karl Urban is one of my favorite movies. I have watched this over 100 times.... Almost Human one of my favorite "series" ever. Have enjoyed almost everything Karl Urban has been in and the very few I haven't liked... I enjoyed his performance so there is that. Then there is Billy Butcher... hell ya.

DOOM was a good movie. It wasnt perhaps DOOM apart from the first person shooter scene but it was a great thriller with a solid story and characters aswel as actors.

OOOO I looked him up on Google when I saw LOTR and he rode up on that horse with that long blonde hair and THOSE EYES. WHEW,,, AND THEN STAR TREK!!! LOVED him in the role of BONES. LOVED IT. I do have trouble getting used to his ACTUAL accent though, Still look for him in movies, etc. I won't watch a monster/horror movie but anything else is on my watch list with HIM IN IT.

I 100% agree with everything in this vid. The man is simply underrated and even in small parts he brought so much life to any character he would play. He is Impressive to a fault and I cant hink of a role he did that was bad at all. some of the movies were but his characters even small roled ones were stand outs. Red floped hard without him in it. The boys would not even be watchable without him in it, he practically took command in every scene I saw him play in Lord of the rings. and he's not wooden. Every character he does is way different from another one. Macoy and Eoamere are so polarized against one another.. he is just so good weather playing a lead role or a bit one thit hius man n itself should be a draw for any movie.
Karl could have been Doom. No diss on RDJ but it looks like who your friends are in Hollywood is what gets you parts.
There's 3 things that get you parts in Hollywood.
1. Who you know
2. Your name value (though budget dependent)
3. Being a yes man and not to close to the source, don't want someone who will disagree with them and cause issue with their direction.
Priest has 2 of my favorite low key/under the radar actors; Paul Bettany and Karl Urban. I have liked Paul Bettany since I saw him in "Knight's Tale".

Star Trek was good but I wasn't hooked at that point. I just found out about Urban's Dredd right now. Almost Human was the first time I really became a fan of him as an actor, and the way that show died was very regrettable. It had so much potential and a lot of the episodes were great on their own.
I hope we'll see more of him !!
