    Golf with Aimee is the one of the best, most reliable golf channels out there! She is actually very analytical, but she goes way beyond that to consider whether a swing motion could cause risk to injury, or to introduce ideas to new golfers, etc., etc. Count me as an Aimee fan.

    I happened across this video a few days ago. I am 83 and have arthritis in both hands, especially in my index fingers. Having been a low handicapper in my earlier years I now have most recently been having scores in the mid 90's. The first time I took this swing method to the course, after a bucket of range balls, I had a an 84 with no pain to deal with, then 2 days later came an 81, also with no pain. I added about 20 yards to my drives and fairway woods . If the Texas wind had not been blowing 15 MPH that day it may have even been a better score. Thanks so much for taking the time to post this information and great video.

    Great video Jimmy. Thanks so much. I also fade the ball. Butt to the ground stops the sway. I adjusted the next sequence to “ throw it over your left shoulder” rather than butt to the target. This then gets you the correct finish which automatically points the butt to the target. The base overriding thought though is use your core not your arms.

    The butt to the ground part is pretty easy and it really works! Yesterday, practice/playing on the course I hit a solid 9 iron to 135 yd par 3 and was 10 yards short of pin but realized I forgot to get the butt to the ground. So I re-teed and made sure I got butt to the ground. The ball jumped off the clubface and landed pin high! Still working on the butt to the target part...

    I immediately noticed your putter is shaped very similar to mine. I found it at a thrift store for $1.98. Mine is a T-Line 4 (I think) and I’ve never putted better in my life….when it’s on. When it’s off, I can’t believe how the feel disappears. I am committed to sticking with it because it’s the first putter I’ve used that allows me to line up away from the ball, which feels natural to me. The heel shaft is the way to go.

    I have been doing the L to L drill on the range and crushed the ball nice and straight, I started using the drill as my regular backswing, looks a little unconventional but hitting ball high, long and straight, no bad drives have to get use to the new distances of each club. Best I ever played last two rounds.

    Jimmy, great video!
    Last year I embraced the baseball swing. It worked wonders with driver, 3 wood, and every long club till the 6 iron.
    The magic evaporated when I got closer and closer to my wedges. That issue costed me the scratch club championship final (on the 36th hole…yeah, two round final). I pushed my 50* straight to the right greenside bunker…
    The baseball swing is a shallow (non divot) swing that sends the ball high, really high. It is not accurate and deadly when the wind blows.
    This year I am working on my butt to ground swing. I never thought on trying “butt to the target” next.
    I’ll give it a shot tomorrow.
    Best regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina

  • @timothyj5237
    @timothyj5237 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Thanks for the video. It appears you and I may share the same affliction. It concerns the trail elbow. We have the issue where the angle of the elbow is out of position and pointing the direct opposite of the target on the downswing. Why some of us do that I do not know. Perhaps it is a lack of flexibility in our shoulders or maybe it just feels more natural to us.
    Pointing the butt of the club to the target puts the elbow in the correct position. I tend to focus on the elbow moving it towards the ball. It achieves the same result. If you try it you will see your hands fall into the position you refer to. It is another way to flatten the swing. For us baseball type swingers we have a great tendency of making over the top move or releasing the club way too early

  • @AmmoDude

    Excellent swing thought. A good "visual" aid is to take an alignment stick, hold it against the club with your grip, acting as an extention of the club. Make a back swing to check that the rod is pointing at the ball; coming down the rod should point straight down the target line until parallel with the ground. This drill helped me hit my fairway metals better, I was topping them because my swing was way too shallow. And yes, it works with all the clubs! Nothing better that a good butt!

  • @TexasGolfer
    @TexasGolfer 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Good info I have not beard before.
    * Butt to the ground is forcing better wrist angles at the top.
    * Butt to the target is forcing that trailing arm/elbow to get in front of you so the club does not get trapped behind you.

    noticed you said you usually fade the ball; her instruction was: first move squares your hips; that shallows the handle and points it at the target line (butt to the ground) don’t pull the handle down, feel like you leave it back; next, as your hips start to open, your shoulders are still somewhat closed and your hands drop to the delivery position (butt to the target). from there everything releases, and you should be straighter, maybe even drawing the ball. 😊

      You must be the same golfer as me. As I say iwtid. It works till I’d doesn’t! My explanation is that the little move or secret that allows you to hit it better sub consciously gets exaggerated slightly every shot in order to hit it further and further. Until of course it all falls down. Then you can’t just go back to the original “ move “ for some reason and you’re on the way to the next “ magic move”.

    Been focusing on the butt a long time, the thought just came to me and I've stuck with it. I visualize a thin blue line like a wire from the back of the ball to about 7 inches behind it, and I only try to pull the butt along that line and beyond. I can adjust by making the line curve, move to the sides, bottom or top of the ball, whatever is needed to hit the sweet spot. It's all about butt and hand path, no other swing thoughts. Butt I will give your thought a good try. Thanks!

    Never force the clubhead to the ball. The club design and proper swing will get it there. What youre doing is swinging the handle in the proper arc around your rotation which is very dynamic. Nice swing but i doubt the key is doing more than taking you focus off the ball which is fine by me!!

Stay inside the ball knob to ball. Sound familiar. I continue to play Sunday league baseball at 49 years of age and struggle as a 12-18 handicap in golf too. Low middle pitch that needs to be put in play up the middle and stay inside the ball and lead with knob is what it sounds like to me. Going to try it tomorrow. Thanks

    You are hitting a blocked baseball shot. If it works for you go for it.

    Someone has to say it. I played the video in slow motion. That looked more like a swipey pull cut.

      No they didn’t, they looked like baby cuts like a majority of pros play, start down the left center and fall to the middle. Usually the ball flight progression goes slices for beginners, then they learn to draw the ball playing as 5-10 handicapper hacks, then back to a majority cuts once they get to scratch and better because it’s a better, more controllable, more reliable, higher flight, higher spinning shot and a draw is always easy to hit when needed. That’s why more cuts have been hit by the majority of major champions and the guys who play big draws never shoot that well.
