Hi Jimmy. Hope you are well. I watch all of your videos - -but this one I have watched three times. Why? I thought I was keeping my head down when I would swim the club or putt - - but guess what: I WASN'T!!!! Thank you so much it has made golf much easier , I actually see what I am doing. And at 72 (in Maine) I am out on courses in 30 degree weather and practicing like I was 12 years old. So fun. Thanks a million, keep it coming. You make golf FUN - - but also simple which is awesome!
rick, thats amazing. Im so happy this works for you. thank you for watching and for the support. I hope I have your support with the new TROPICANA golf balls I just launched. I've been playing these balls for the past 4 years and I'm playing me best golf ever. Please click here to try them. tropicanagolfshop.com/products/the-new-tropicana-ball
There is actually a tip that changed mine. The first four inches of the take-away is ultra critical just as Nicklaus insisted all of his life. He never told why. It is because it is the only place in your swing where you can start the club back with your big body trunk muscles. Once past that point it is too late. The arms and shoulders did it and the swing from there is all timing. Timing never lasts even from the range to the first tee. The touring pros call it being "connected". (body to arms and shoulders). Once skilled at this, the need for timing is reduced by about 90 percent. It actually is not easy to do because most people have done it wrong all of their life.
Jimmy. I am back after trying your swing thoughts and mechanics for 9 holes. For every shot except one my ball went straight and long. It was almost an effort less feel. Thank you so much. I am fan for life.
No BS man, I watch a lot of golf videos. More than you should probably. But you have made 3 short videos that gave me what I wanted, a simple repeatable easy golf swing. I have taken 8 strokes off my game so far. Today I played 18 holes without going into the water or a bunker, that’s never happened since I moved to Myrtle Beach SC. What changes did I implement was this. 1. the head stays behind the ball during impact and swing up not around to my left. 2. rotate my hips back in the backswing then toward the target in the downswing. 3 at the top of my backswing the butt of the club down towards the ground, and on the downswing aim the club butt toward the target. That’s changed everything for me. Thank you man, your videos were a real no BS simple fix for my swing…
Jimmy is what all non pro golfers need to hear. Absolutely in a few vids and a few rounds, I'm in and closer to 70's than the 90's. A few 79's, a 78, and a few low 80's. 5 or 6 rounds in, so consistent, so effortless, so simple. Jimmy is a gem
Yup, of course just watching the blurr of your practice swing tells you where your swing is going. Just swinging like your throwing your club to the target helps keep your head still and behind the ball at address. Keeping your head down is a misnomer. You only keep your head back. Just saying keep your head down, and most beginners try to keep their head down through the entire swing which is a swing killer. Keep your head back but allow it to rotate with your shoulders as you throw the club through the target like you naturally do if you’re target oriented.
I’ve always had a problem with keep your head down on a full swing. It’s a swing killer. Jimmy doesn’t do it. His head follows the ball like it should after impact and towards the target. Swing like you are throwing to club towards the target does everything for you.
I focused on this today at the range and OMG, what a game changer. Thank you so much for sharing this. Today I hit my 8i 175 yards. My typical distance with this club is 140 yds. Simply awesome tip!!
Agree. I couldn’t hit my driver until I learned to stay behind the ball, keep head still, and definitely NO swaying. I went from 120’s to low 90’s. Been playing for two years.
Great Tips. I need this. On a side note about the putting: Gary Player once gave the following putting tip: When you putt LISTEN for the ball to fall into the cup. He said: so many players hear me but they need to LISTEN for the ball to hit the bottom of the cup.
Many thanks. This makes perfect sense! I had the same experience yesterday. Once I got a lost ball off a tee and subsequent double-bogey I started to look up to see where the ball was going for the rest of the round, not realizing what I was doing. Instead of going back to keeping it simple I was swamped with swing thoughts - and of course, disaster.
Love the videos Jimmy. I swear the same BS was happening yesterday at the range. Wedges and short irons were all great until I moved up to longer irons, woods, especially the driver. Super nasty 20-30 yard hook which left me scratching my head. I can almost guarantee it was a product of my head going + finishing low. Thanks for the insight.
Hey im glad you're starting to figure it out. keep the head back! thank you for watching and for the support. I have I have your support with the new TROPICANA golf balls I just launched. I've been playing these balls for the past 4 years and I'm playing me best golf ever. Please click here to try them. tropicanagolfshop.com/products/the-new-tropicana-ball
You are the “everyday man” golfers instructor. Practical, simple and with no preconceived notions that the average golfer will shoot in the 70’s. I’d love to but realistically it would be easier for me to win the lottery. Than you!
Very similar to my situation. Was shooting high 70s-low 80s then my game fell apart...either dead pulls left or off the planet slices and completely lost my touch on the greens. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why. Thankfully, an older, wiser playing partner noticed my head turning with my swing and kindly told me so. Bingo! Instant fix and happy golfer once again. One caveat however. Don't go overboard and keep your head too rigid while swinging. It's okay to let it move some backward and forward. The key is keeping your eyes on the ball until it's well off the clubface.
Excellent instruction. After over 30 yrs. as an instructor. I would say many instructors are afraid to say keep your head down. But they need to say keep your head down and show pictures of Pros that drop down on their down swing when they strike the ball. On putting keep it still and down until the ball is a count of 2 toward the hole.
Jimmy Tropicana! Wasssssssup. This happened to me some time ago and once I started doing this, my putting soared miles. Still practicing with irons and driver and making vast improvements. Love this brother! Ty
Sir, you are absolutely correct, (and I have difficulty with moving my head). I watched some golf tips from the great Bobby Jones, and I was amazed, his head NEVER moves!
Just found your channel and I have to say some of the best tips for the common golfer like me. I am trying to start playing again after about a 10 year hiatus and you show things in such a way that you don’t need to be a five star athlete to do it. Love your videos
Great video! The only thing is that the head down idea can become a problem if you go too far with it. You can end up not releasing properly. But you’re absolutely right that you should stay in the shot through impact.
I did the same thing a month ago and shot my best golf. I liked it at the toe and stay flat all through the shot. New sub here keep it up. Love your content🔥🔥🔥
It actually does work! I've been playing like this all season and it still works. Encourages better rotation, whereas head up almost always equals EE (early extension). Good tip!
Great video. Good presentation approach. Good editing. I had a good range session yesterday applying these principals and now will work on grooving this in.
Hi Jimmy great video as usual. Just as a tip what I’m usually doing if I have messed up with my swings or putting is I make notes and go to driving range to find the way to fiz it and when I found it I will write it down in my notes, so I have many notes again and again. If we don’t document the mistakes and the correction we will forget again at some point of time😊
I am a 77 year old Senior. I set my goal to break 90 this year. So yesterday, I played around snow drifts and mud. I swallowed my pride and on #1 pulled out my 3 iron. At the end of 9 holes, I had shot a 44. I did used the driver on the last 3 holes because by then, I was loose enough to swing the club. Lost no balls and played in the fairway all 9 holes. WooHoo! Thanks Jimmy 😊
So true! On the flip side of this one could argue what’s the downside to really exaggerating keeping your head down? (There isn’t!). Thanks for sharing this gem!
Couldn't be more wrong. There are any numbers of videos on TH-cam about how keeping your head down through the release is a recipe for a terrible golf swing.
Went from high 80's to low 90's to high 70's very low 80's. That vid on ball position JT did INSTANTLY ended my career hook. If you haven't seen it, it seems to go against everything we've been taught, but the results are real. BEST!!
Great tip, thanks. For me, I simply remind myself to see I strike the ball before moving my head, is this similar to this tip? Did you get on the green from the tee shot on the 12th hole 317yd par 4?
Jimmy! The exact same thing has been happening to me man. The other day,3birds 2pars 40 on the front. On the back,6 triples on the back 56! 6 TRIPLES JIMMY! WTF? Probably doing what you said. Thanks man.
A drill from an old golfer-- for a split second look for the color of the tee, you will never see it but your head will stay steady as you describe, for irons same thing except look for where the ball was! "divot" or fluffed grass.
I want to thank you for your video . I feel much better about my game. I put my driver in the garage and I have been teeing off with my 3 iron . the game is much more enjoyable when you are always in play .hopefully some day I can hit my driver better but for now I am irons all the way
You got a great swing! Thanks for this tip. I hit a lot of pulls and I wonder if my head is moving with my shoulders. I know I get outside to in a bit and sometimes I flip it, but I think my head is moving too much
hi a few years ago at the players dinner at the masters, Tiger was sitting next to Gary Player, Tiger said Mr Player im confused about my swing !!! Gary said back, "Tiger i've played with everyone, Byron Nelson. Ben Hogan, Jack, Tom Watson Nick Faldo , everyone, I've never seen In 60 years any of them turn left through the ball " a bio mechanic guy called Doctor Hurrion measured in one year all the european pga tour pros on force plates, on the down and forward swing through impact their weight went linear down the target line !! in fact the best players went 'down the line' further than the others, yes they eventually rotated left but that was after the extension down the line. cheers great video
Great tip! I saw Malaska's video on this. He prescribed keeping the brim of your cap level at impact. My straightest shots are when I follow it. Gonna take a little while to remember it for every shot but gets better every round.
LOL, I just suffered a 2 week gap of the same issue. Although I don't think of it the same. I think what you've really discovered is your shoulder plane was wrong. When you're hitting like Tyson your plane is horizontal, in other words your shoulders are turning more level to the ground. When you're hitting it good your shoulder plane is more in the 45*+ level...in other words your right shoulder is much lower than your left shoulder at impact. BTW it's similar with your putting. Your solution to "keep the pumpkin on the vine" (aka head down) helps to change your shoulder plane.
Watched this video at random the day before a round, followed the tips and my first 9 holes gave me 2 birdies and 4 pars (and this never happens, I am/was a 20+ handicapper). Ended up scoring my best ever at that course.
Dude this was fantastic, so simple and makes so much sense. BTW most of us watching this wish we could shoot your lousy scorecard lol I'm still trying to break 100 consistently😂
What's really happening is you early extend a whole lot in your swing. Instead of standing the proper distance and early extending where you run your hands out of room you are creating more space so after you hump the ball you are back closer to where you should be. Draw a line at the back of your butt at setup and then look at how much closer you are the to the ball at impact. You are 6 to 8 inches closer to the ball.
So I was on a run where I was hitting my 7 iron 170- 175 yards - absolute missiles ( I am 57 years old) with an insane release. My thought was to look at the ball 3 inches behind it. Eventually, I started hooking it again. This EXPLAINS why that was working briefly. I bet once I started allowing my head to follow with my turn I was toast !! I think you are on to something. My weak 7-iron is 153-156…
Tried these tips on the range this morning. First 10 minutes I have never hit my irons any better, long & dead straight. 10 minutes later I must have changed something because all my iron shots turned to fades? 10 minutes later some of my fades turned to slices especially with my long irons? out.
whenever my game goes south, it's always because my shots go left. I always say I'm pulling the ball, Anyway, it happened again today on the practice range, I'll give your tip a try tomorrow, hopefully it's the fix I need.
I'm feeling this! Got 1,000,000 swing thoughts, and forgetting common sense. Just left the range and felt like a game changer. Thanks man!
Yup. This is the one man! Total game changer.
1 million is lots ! My head is noisy as well. Sounds like someone kicked a hornets nest up there!
One of the most relatable channels for golf tips for beginners 👌

This is frickn brilliant Mr Jimmy T.
I hope my group does not see this. I love this its just basic explantion without out the mumble jumble.

Keep grinding my brotha!
Right on! I found the same thing yesterday. My buddy commented " your head is in a vice" It works for me.
Sir, you are absolutely correct, (and I have difficulty with moving my head). I watched some golf tips from the great Bobby Jones, and I was amazed, his head NEVER moves!
Totally true!
Great content!
I like the tag line of “keep your spirits high and your scores low”.
Thank you
I'm fairly new, but this guy changed my game forever. He's genius.
Great stuff. Thanks, Tropicana.
Thanks for watching
Best tip I’ve heard in a long time.
It really works
Thank you for sharing these gems. You're a good teacher. more power to you.
Thanks for watching!
Just found your channel and I have to say some of the best tips for the common golfer like me. I am trying to start playing again after about a 10 year hiatus and you show things in such a way that you don’t need to be a five star athlete to do it. Love your videos
Taking this all back to the course this am in about an hour. Great review. Thanks.
Hope it worked
Great video! The only thing is that the head down idea can become a problem if you go too far with it. You can end up not releasing properly. But you’re absolutely right that you should stay in the shot through impact.
head down and release. Its very hard to keep your head down "too long". Its a great thought to have. The momentum will keep you going.
What a brilliant lesson....thanks sir
I did the same thing a month ago and shot my best golf. I liked it at the toe and stay flat all through the shot. New sub here keep it up. Love your content🔥🔥🔥
Thank you and welcome!
Soooooooooooooooo true. I used to hit all my short clubs left due to this head move bs. Great tip bro.
Keep it steady!!
Absolutely great tips!!! You face the problem and solve it.
It actually does work! I've been playing like this all season and it still works. Encourages better rotation, whereas head up almost always equals EE (early extension). Good tip!
Its tried and true! Enjoy!!
Great video. Good presentation approach. Good editing. I had a good range session yesterday applying these principals and now will work on grooving this in.
Thanks for this stellar tip my man! Literal game changer for a head bobber like myself, cheers!
It makes all the difference. Keep it DOWN!
Hi Jimmy great video as usual. Perfect! Thanks so much for sharing that with us. Makes absolute perfect sense!

Great teaching! You've got my attention!
Thanks for watching
Went from high 80's to low 90's to high 70's very low 80's. That vid on ball position JT did INSTANTLY ended my career hook. If you haven't seen it, it seems to go against everything we've been taught, but the results are real. BEST!!
Many years ago, Lee Trevino said, "get behind the ball and stay behind the ball." I don't know why I keep forgetting that!
Lee knows best!
Great tip, thanks. For me, I simply remind myself to see I strike the ball before moving my head, is this similar to this tip? Did you get on the green from the tee shot on the 12th hole 317yd par 4?
negative. I usually hit an iron to the middle of the fairway.
absolutely true, if I am too close to the ball specially with the driver I hook immediately the ball
Great video! loved your funny take on the problem. Most of us really do have that problem.
Glad you enjoyed it!
an added bonus for me, when I stand slightly farther away, it helps me extend my arms better. thanks
Absolutely. The rotation is around your spine!
Head is steady! Love it
now i know why Jim Venetos screams about being STILL! Thankyou!!!!Keep that head still!!!!!cant wait to tr this tomorrow!!!!
One of the Best Tips Have ever seen Sir,Thank You !
Hope it works for you. I cant wait to use it tomorrow.
@@TropicanaEntertainment Was out just now ,Smoking My Irons -Thank You again!
New subscriber. So far, I like what I am seeing. Let's go.
Great video... I can definitely relate to this and will be trying it next time I'm on the range / course! 🙌
let me know!
Man this is awesome, this is the first video that actually helped me with my slice! And I have watch a #%^* load of videos! 👍🔥 Thanks for the video!
Glad I could help! Hit em straight
Jack would agree. He stressed that head movement was the #1 killer of a good golf swing.
Jack is a legend for a reason!
You are fun to watch!!!🎉
Thanks for info Perro! Good stuff!!
Great tips!!!!!
Head down and a perfect takeaway are the only swing thoughts I try to let enter my brain.
Thats a great swing thought!
Ok - gonna focus on this tomorrow morning.
Jimmy! The exact same thing has been happening to me man. The other day,3birds 2pars 40 on the front. On the back,6 triples on the back 56! 6 TRIPLES JIMMY! WTF? Probably doing what you said. Thanks man.
if you shot 3 birds on the front and still couldnt break 40, the triples represent a return to normalcy.
A drill from an old golfer-- for a split second look for the color of the tee, you will never see it but your head will stay steady as you describe, for irons same thing except look for where the ball was! "divot" or fluffed grass.
You've come a long way in the game, Tropicana. Good job!
Thanks brotha!
Pivot movement over a central stable axis. Same thing taught in baseball.
I want to thank you for your video . I feel much better about my game. I put my driver in the garage and I have been teeing off with my 3 iron . the game is much more enjoyable when you are always in play .hopefully some day I can hit my driver better but for now I am irons all the way
Glad it helped. Stay with it.
Great advice…. Just wondering where you keep most of your weight on your feet
Heels and front foot
Release is at shortstop not third base, easy to remember
You got a great swing! Thanks for this tip. I hit a lot of pulls and I wonder if my head is moving with my shoulders. I know I get outside to in a bit and sometimes I flip it, but I think my head is moving too much
A moving head causes the shoulders to move, causing the ball to go left. Hope this helps
Best tip I’ve literally ever heard
Its a good one man. Enjoy
On short putts try to hear it hit the bottom of the cup before you look at the hole. Wait for the sound
You are the man keep them tips coming 👏
thanks!
Life is easy, golf is hard.
Straight up & simple!
True!
Excellent!!!👍💥
Good one..this has been my problem, I will definitely give this a try 😅
Great. Let me know how it works!
Works great, thanks heaps
I'm hitting more greens, fairways in regulation
Just need a little bit of fine tuning, but otherwise, I'm very confident now
Excellent tips i think you've really found something

In golf there is a different swing thought every day if you are a higher caliber player. This applies to top notch professionals and amateurs
Effective, simple advice. Well done. BTW - I've always like your style of swing over Manolo's, less complexity for me.
We have diff styles but I’ve learned listening to him.
Great advice!
Great video. You earned a new subscriber 💯💪🏽

LOL thank you I was doing the same thing I took your tip kept my head still and bingo straight and long

It works man!!
Are you rocking the 8802 putter?
Of course. Classics never die.
@@TropicanaEntertainment Heck yeah! I rock the same putter....just got it a week ago.
Dude this was fantastic, so simple and makes so much sense. BTW most of us watching this wish we could shoot your lousy scorecard lol I'm still trying to break 100 consistently😂
This tip will help you shoot the score that you want. Practice it slow at first
Best information out there. 👍
kudos
You do a great job of explaining things.
Thank you. Hope it works for
You
Great tip!!!
Glad it helped!
Nice work!

Thanks for the visit
Wow
Fantastic
thanks for watching
What's really happening is you early extend a whole lot in your swing. Instead of standing the proper distance and early extending where you run your hands out of room you are creating more space so after you hump the ball you are back closer to where you should be. Draw a line at the back of your butt at setup and then look at how much closer you are the to the ball at impact. You are 6 to 8 inches closer to the ball.
That is true also but keeping my head still calms my early extension also
Bingo. Look at the setup of tour players. The exagerrated distance from the ball and head down is a band-aid for a stall and early extend pattern.
My weak 7-iron is 153-156…
I have been struggling with the same problem, this might be the solution to my problem
Do it slow. It works
Tried these tips on the range this morning. First 10 minutes I have never hit my irons any better, long & dead straight. 10 minutes later I must have changed something because all my iron shots turned to fades? 10 minutes later some of my fades turned to slices especially with my long irons? out.
Standing too close to the ball. Youre hitting the outside of the ball
I appreciate the tip and will make this change.@@TropicanaEntertainment
Thanks for the tip Perro🤙😎💪

My dad always said "nobody ever lost sight of a putt" when I would lift my head.

whenever my game goes south, it's always because my shots go left. I always say I'm pulling the ball, Anyway, it happened again today on the practice range, I'll give your tip a try tomorrow, hopefully it's the fix I need.
It works. Keep that left arm close to the body and ball cant go left.
