For Blender version 3.2 > I noticed a bug for which the canvas surface does not display correctly. If you go to the wireframe-view mode, you can see that the ripples are created correctly, so the underlying geometry is correct. But the normals are not recalculated for the surface, so we get an erroneous outlook in the solid view mode. Fortunately I discovered a simple fix for this. For the canvas object, in the modifiers tab, you'll find a Dynamic Paint modifier added by Blender. Add a simple deform modifier after this. You can use any of the four options like twist or bend etc. but enter zero in the angle/amount field. So effectively there won't be any change in the shape but the normals will be recalculated. Now the ripples will display correctly. If you use any other modifier that forces the recalculation of the normals, the ripples will display correctly. Hopefully this will be fixed soon. I'll report it to the developers team.
Yes, very much! They both can work together. But you need to play with the settings for best results, for a visible output. You would probably like to use shallow water settings instead of a turbulent ocean. We have a plan to do this exact tutorial, maybe next month.
Yes. Take any one frame. Each frame is a still image. An animation or a video is nothing but a number of still images run in a rapid sequence. Take one frame and bake the image, then export it as a texture. This baking part is covered in another tutorial 👉 th-cam.com/video/qHBz6UTZehs/w-d-xo.html You need to ensure that there is a bright HDRI setup as an environment lighting (this part is again covered here 👉 th-cam.com/video/JUhq6cHTuOE/w-d-xo.html
Are you getting the correct render output in Eevee? If that is the case, if you are getting this problem only in Cycles, please send your blend file to us (5minblender@gmail.com), we'll check your file and get back to you. It may be because of some settings in your Cycles render.
Hi! super video, but the canva don't wan't to bake, 0 frames in memory when i bake, so the canva is stuck with a ripple and don't move after that, can you help please
I've just been trying to do this I just can't find the right settings Might try again I was trying a boat and then rain Might be cause the water has too few subdivisions
Ok. If you think it is not working at all, you can send your blend file to us, we can check what is causing the issues. Our contact details (Email ID) are given in the About section of this channel. Thanks!
Was it solved? Are you using the latest 3.1.2 build? I checked it with the latest build, and everything is working fine. Please ensure that you have added enough subdivisions for the canvas object. If still facing any issues, please send us your blend file, we'll check it. And also please mention the exact blender version that you used. You can get our contact details in the About section of this channel. Thanks!
That's strange! Did you add subdivision after the dynamic paint? Can I have a look at your blend file? You can email us at 5minblender@gmail.com Thanks!
I did exactly as you did and there are no bubbles in the square which makes it water and the ball only touches but there is no way I can make it have bubbles as well I am new in the field but know a little about Blender which is also an old software for me please help how to make my ball be in water which makes bubbles I wonder
Hi, it should work as shown. But I understand that somehow it is not working for you. It will be great if you can save your blend file and send it as-it-is to 5minblender@gmail.com address. We can verify what is wrong with your file and suggest a solution. Otherwise we may not be able to guess what the issue could be. Also, when you send this file, please mention which Blender version you are using.
Is it solved now? The G-key works for the "selected" object. So select the cone before you run the animation. Or while the animation is running, first select that cone (either in the 3D viewport directly, or through the Outliner panel), then press G on the keyboard and move your mouse. Please let me know if this still does not work.
Hi, which version are you using? If it is version 3.2 there is a bug in it which gives an erroneous display of the canvas surface. I just now dropped a comment at the top with the reasons for this and an easy fix as well. Please check that and let me know if that solves your issues or if you have some different issues. Thanks!

Thanks for this. I was wondering why I couldn't see the ripples unlike your video :-)
I normally hate text to speech tutorials, but you did great with this. Thanks. An excellent tutorial!
Thank you so much! I'm glad that it helped 💝
@@5MinutesBlender - It really did! I'll be referring to this video a lot in my current project.

so, lets say we have an object with ocean modifier, can we apply this too?

Very nice Tutorial...
Many many thanks 😊 You're one of our viewers who always inspire us 💖💖
@@5MinutesBlender Your most welcome without TH-cam channels like yours Blender would be almost impossible to really learn on my own!
is there a way I can pause the simulation and just have the ripples as a static texture ?

@@5MinutesBlender great, why didn't you write the solution here? I also have this problem, after baking the animation disappears

Niiiiice!
I tried this one three or four times in 3.1 and even did a Blender reboot. No matter what I try, the brush fails to make any ripples on canvas.
It may have been an issue with subdivision, I will keep testing.
