    Hello. This is a very clear and easy to understand tutorial, and it works very well for a single floating object; but if I want to have several objects keeping their positions relative to each other, when I apply "copy location" it modifies their original position placing all the objects in the center. How can I correct this situation?

    • @5MinutesBlender
      @5MinutesBlender วันที่ผ่านมา

      You need to use a separate guiding plane for each object. Or alternatively, you can enable X-Y-Z options in the copy location constraint for one object. For the other objects in the group, just enable Z in their respective copy location constraint. Now add a child of constraint for these objects, set the first object as the parent and enable X & Y only. So these objects will wave according to the height of the water but they will maintain the same relative position w.r.t. the first object.

    Thank you very much for delivering such great content using simple, quick, and easy to follow demonstrations. I baked and exported the plane animation to use in another application, but it appears that the shrink modifier registers only movement in the X axis by keeping the object's origin at the same height and rotation (0,0,0). Same with the torus' movement. Is there any way to register the rotation and Y Axis movement of the guiding plane towards the animation so that wavy movement can be exported? I really appreciate your content and teaching approach.

      Hey, thanks a lot! Glad that you liked our tutorials. I did not try with export. As such Blender's export module has limited support in many areas, so we need to be really lucky to get everything working in an exported version 🙂

    • @5MinutesBlender

      You need to add the motion to the guiding plane instead of the boat. The boat will follow this motion since it has the copy location constraints while floating on the water.

    • @5MinutesBlender
      @5MinutesBlender ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you liked the tutorial! To smooth out the jittery motion, you can increase the size of the guiding plane. Experiment with the size because if you make it too large, you'll lose the motions completely. Use something that makes it more realistic.

    I made a boat float by this method but the ocean water is getting inside the boat. I have tried boolean modifier but it is not working properly. please make a tutorial on how to fix it.

    • @5MinutesBlender
      @5MinutesBlender 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, as of now a boolean modifier is the only easy way to remove this water from inside of the boat. You need to add a boolean modifier AFTER the ocean modifier for the plane, and select the boat as the target with the "difference" option. While it works in most of the cases, it can fail if the ocean surface has a hole, or a break in its geometry. Such holes are resulted from a very turbulent ocean movement. If the ocean water is relatively calm, the above setup should work, I have tested the same. We'll probably come up with a tutorial soon on this, I found it interesting.

    for some reason the object I imported is totally off sync with the waves/plane, it goes up or down with the waves 1-2 seconds later, any idea what's causing it?

    • @5MinutesBlender
      @5MinutesBlender 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just a wild guess, please check the origin point of the object that you have imported. Usually the size of the guiding plane is a very crucial factor here. But I guess you have already ensured that the plane is in-sync with the ocean waves, it is the 3rd object which is only out-of-sync. So my doubt is on the origin point. Set the origin point of this imported object to that of the plane, you may get a better result. Please let me know if this does not solve your issue.

    broski i wanna make a river and i want the words Sunday to float with the simulation... will this trick work/?

    • @5MinutesBlender
      @5MinutesBlender 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, it should work if you create each letter as a solid 3d object and float each piece separately. If you don't want the whole text to float together as a flat surface, not a 3d object, you need to look for other methods like curve modifier or shrinkwrap.

  • @animacionesdediegofernando5820
    @animacionesdediegofernando5820 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Question. Wouldn't it be the same if I applied a shrinkwrap constraint to the object?

    • @5MinutesBlender
      @5MinutesBlender 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. No, shrinkwrap constraint won't work in this case (it will work but not perfectly) because shrinkwrap constraint works on the entire object, it does not affect each vertex point. So the guiding plane won't snap correctly to the ocean surface. We need to use a shrinkwrap modifier for the correct result.

    hey the ocean is going through the center of my object, for example: a floating cup has the water going through the bottom

    • @5MinutesBlender
      @5MinutesBlender 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Check the origin of your cup. If you bring the origin down to the bottom of the cup, it will float just above the ocean surface and the ocean won't penetrate through the cup. But if you want it to float submerged (half merged), it will be somewhat tricky. The ocean will penetrate the cup in that case, so you need to add a boolean modifier to the ocean to cut out the part that penetrates the cup.

    • @5MinutesBlender

      Hi, if you mean infinite in length, then it is actually not possible without illusion. You have to create a large ocean and then setup the camera such that the end part never comes to the camera front. You can place waving ocean pictures in the horizon to makeup for the ocean end. You have to fake it in one way or the other. And by "infinite" if you mean an ocean that runs infinitely, you can loop the ocean, check this tutorial 👉 th-cam.com/video/p03fspwMY64/w-d-xo.html
