Dude thank you so much for this! I've been trying to figure out how to set up a remix as a "collaboration" and the "primary artist" wasn't an option, because it was a single. Distrokid completely hides the fact that just adding multiple artist names can automatically set it up as a collaboration.
its a bit silly that you have to use an extra artist slot tbh. i dont know weather its intentional so you upgrade or its actually harder to execute but i doubt it
Hey! Very useful video. One question, how can I release a song as a feature, not a co-release, as you mentioned when it's shown on the "Appears on" section of the other artist? And does a feature still takes up an artist slot? Or is it just with the co-release? Thanks!
thanks for the video:) I'm currently on the musicians' plus plan and plan to have 2 more slots, how much did you pay to uppgrade? I can't find this info, unless I would need to uppgrade. to the label plan for 80$ which seems like an overkill if I want just one extra artist
How can I add a collaborative single to an album afterwards? I always have problems with the metadata, when entering the same artists (entered on the single as one artist name "artist 1 x artist 2 x artist 3") as primary artists then.. Maybe someone can help or you can make another video for this topic?
Sup big bro, thanks for listening to my song on the stream you had this week🙏. Is it possible you could make a tutorial on how to move songs you uploaded from one distributor to Distrokid?
can somebody tell me what to do? I chose the 2 artist bundle on distrokid and planned to upload 2 tracks with me as the main artist and 2 people collabing, but i didn t mention them as features because i thought they did more than that. I ve aborted the singles but distrokid wants me to pay for managing the solo versions of me and the guy i share the distrokid account with. What can I do next? I want to remove the artists that appear right now
Hi Man! Awesome Content 🤙🏻 i'm new to distokid and want to release the first time as a co-release.. this means, there are no two accounts to choose from in the bandname place. If i use "name, name" as my first release ever, i only get one spotify account access, cause it is seen as one artist in distrokid now and i only have one artist spot left... do i have to release a song with one artist at a time, so the two artist are registered separate from each other, and then i'm able to use it as a colab ? i'm really totally lost.. :D thanks for your quick answer! Cheers
Hello good day, this is a very explanatory video. I have a question I think maybe you can help me answer. So I recently did a collaboration post in may just as you explained. Now, I want to upload a new song that I'm set to release but the artist name is refusing to change from the the collaboration one I used the last time. How can I rectify this problem? Because on this new song, I didn't feature anybody
We made the mistake that you showed in the beginning by clicking “feature artist”. Is it still possible to edit this into a collab after the song already released
Hi, great video really helpful. I just want to ask about the following issue. Pleaseeee anyone who knows help 🙏🙏🙏 I am about to co-release a song. I am already in distrokid and I've got musicians plan so I will do the same as the video (add my name and the other artists' name which he doesn't have distrokid or profile on platforms). What concerns me is that the other artist will have to pay and create a new distrokid account via my account ? And if not, how will he claim his platform profiles? How can he upload a song /album in the future by his own? If he cannot manage his own account on distrokid then shall he make his own distrokid account and then co release our song ?
Do the streams count = the same on both profile. So if I listen on yours and than another do they both count the same amount of streams or is it separate to who views on what Profile.
Yea it's all the same, the best part is you share monthly listeners from that song too. So if 10 people find and listen to the song on my profile, the other artist would also get the 10 monthly listeners added.
Seems like Distrokid updates their UI a little bit every so often, but now when uploading, you can click "Add featured artist to title" and then it gives you a spot to input the artist on the song. If you choose "Primary Artist" in the drop down beside it, it will release as a co-release regardless of that song being on an album or single!
@@MMXVII I just did it with a friend and it only worked on a single. I released the album first and it didn’t show on his end under his Spotify for artist. Then I released it as a single and the single appeared under his Spotify for artist account.

Hello bro really liked the information u gave but i have one query actually i did a collab song with one artist and he uploaded a song on Spotify with my name but I got my distrokid verified account after the release so i wanted that song to be seen in my profile too but i dont know how to make it happen please do let me know if u have anything regarding this
I added a new artist who doesn’t have a Distrokid account. I created a profile for him as a primary artist mentioned in the video. The track is released but I am not able to claim the new artist account as it’s not reflecting in my Distrokid. What do I do? Please I need this to be addressed asap.

I made a song with some random guy and he dropped the song months later and i don’t like it anymore but it shows up on my discography. How do i remove it from my discography. Please answer
When you add them as a split and they don't use Distrokid, they get an email to sign up for $10/y, but their account is limited to just accepting royalties.
How can I do this with an EP? There are three different collaborations but it only asked for my artist name once and I can just add more artists after that. If I put the name in the format you’re showing it has my artist name displayed twice. The EP has already been released to so I’m hoping I’m able to edit the release

What if one of the artist your listing as a collaborator is new and has no profiles ? In my case the artist name doesn’t exist but they only give options to put existing Spotify and apple links or let them decide. I put let them decide ??
Yes, choose let them decide. Afterwards, reach out to support@distrokid.com and let them know the ISRC code of your song and that you need (insert artist) to have a new profile made, just to be safe. Once created, the other artist can claim their Spotify profile on Spotify for Artists. Hope that helps!!
I use musician plus plan so when I collaborate with another artists and make them primary artists does that cost me more money and how much for an collaborate song ??
Like I said you get 2 "artists" defaulted on that plan. Meaning you can release music under 2 profiles total before you have to pay extra. I am not sure how much it costs per artist. I'm pretty sure you will have to upgrade to their highest tier plan before paying for individual artist plans.
This is a nice video. I have a problem though, when I did this and created a collaboration between me and other artist for co release (Yes I have the second distrokid payment plan so I could do this) what happened was that it created a new artist profile entirely of me and my respective collaborator, instead of posting the song on each of our individual pages respectively like it should...... Anyone got any tips on how to recrify this situation?
Try reaching out via email to support@distrokid.com and ask. If the song is already released, I am not sure you can change it to a corelease, but if it is scheduled, I believe they can make a change !!
They should really make this a real feature instead of another money grab
