Brilliant tutorial! Straight to the point with a detailed explanation of each step that you take. Telling us which shortcut key you're pressing was also helpful!
That's extremely difficult to reproduce if not specifically watching this video, pausing, rewinding, wathing again, fixing the mess, but the result is beautiful, congrats.
I printed the vase overnight using clay matte and it's gorgeous. Now that I've done it once, I went through the video again and created a text file with all the steps. I love being able to make things on my own without using other people's STL files and dealing with license issues. Thank you again for this excellent tutorial.
Brilliant. I never could have figured this out on my own. This design was exactly what I was looking for. One thing, Fusion wouldn't let me create cylOD while dimensioning. I had to create the parameter first and then use it.
Hi, I opened the Parameter Menu and then looked under "Model Parameters" > Sketch2 > Diameter Dimension-2. The name of the parameter in my version of Fusion is "d7" and not "cylOD".
@@JesFinkJensen In the workflow the name changed then i created the parameter/dimension in sketch. But you can change the name in Parameter Menu and make it a favorit.
Interesting way of doing it. These are cool because there's just so many different ways to do things. I usually just draw out the bottom profile on the XY plane and then extrude a form up from that with 5 or 6 front faces, then switch to front view and select the edges and manipulate the shape to match whatever curvature and twist profile I want. Then, just switch back to solid tools and place a plane at the top of the form and do a boundary fill to create a solid. Makes it very easy to go back and modify by just going back and manipulating the form or the initial sketch profile.
your workflow is crazy, makes me realize how little I know about fusion. some how i found a way to do a similar thing by drawing the profile of the vase and with offset i created the rib then revolving the rib and the vase separately and then circular pattern. but your video is so informative, thanks for sharing
Thank you for your tutorial, it's very clear. I've always loved ribs vase and now i've just designed one using your instructions. Looking forward to print it now! If you can do a tutorial abous lamp shade as weel (if adaptable to Ikea Skaftet lamp even better! so everyone can buy one for few bucks)
I am just wondering why the workflow needed to be so complex? You could have just drawn the curve on an offset plane and then done a extrude from body. This would mean that you can then easily go back and adjust the curve.
Extrude is always perpendicular to the sketch plane. In my design the rib is aligned to the center of the vase. But you suggestion create some interesting geometry :)
good job but yeah u got extra few steps u could of avoid i think : once u drew the line then project on the vase then just use square pipe cut and arrange
@@randomgeno6490 I can think of 2 problems with a square pipe (or sweep): the profile will twist because the path is in 3D, and the path needs to be extended beyond the vase or it will not cut all the way. Give you workflow a try and please share what you find.

I consider myself a beginner after 8 or so other tutorials and a few self guided projects. If you approach this project on day 1 with fusion 360, it will take a couple days of rewinding and retrying. but at my current level, i was able to get through it in a couple hours. I restarted a few times after making obnoxious mistakes i didn't care to undo. this was a great exercise that helped me incorporate many skills into my work flow.
Thanks for watching my video! I appreciate your feedback. I understand that you're a beginner with Fusion 360, and that the video may have been too fast for you. I want to assure you that I'm not trying to leave beginners behind. I'm just trying to make videos that are informative and engaging for a variety of skill levels. I would recommend checking out some videos that are more beginner-friendly.
Thank you for your feedback! I apologize if I modeled too fast in my video. You can use the TH-cam playback speed function to slow down the video if you need to. I know that not all viewers are aware of this function, so I wanted to mention it here.

Amazingly straightforward tutorial, easy to follow with great advice in between for much easier and less destructive modelling!
Thank you
This is so good. You teach not only how to do the vase but also how to use fusion more effectively. Thanks.
