    This was just the sort of thing I was looking for ! I am a beginner in Fusion 360 and wanted the ability to add the appearance of riveted steel plates to my rocket models for an art project. Your video was so fascinating I just had to subscribe.

    If you want to emboss around a cylinder without too much trial and error, your sketch width needs to match the circumference of the cylinder's outer wall. So 2(Pi)R to get the correct width.

    Oh, this opens up so many doors for me. I've been experimenting with lithophane prints, and being able to use SVG sketches instead of online lithophane generators makes it possible to absorb the lithophane into more complex models. This is perfect - I'm interested to see how embossing/debossing works with a sphere. Thank you for a very good tutorial: Clear, concise and easy to follow.

    @zencow 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    (edit to add note: Of course, as soon as I post, I found another response like mine, even though I read them all and didn't find it before)... ;)
    Noe... You like parameters as much as I do, so I was surprised that you never tried to use math on your sketches in these experiments. How about making the width of your sketch pattern elements based on the Circumference of your cylinder? If Fusion gives you an error with an exact match of (Circumference = PI * Diameter), then try subtracting a small amount (like 0.01). Looking online, it looks like "PI", in all-caps, is recognized by Fusion.
    Embossing repeatable shapes? Try some Parameters:
    Count=24 (remember no units)
    Shape_width = ((PI * Diameter) / Count) - Padding

    • @miczin5760
      @miczin5760 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      exactly! The key to success in CAD is parametric design done right.

    How do you get the coloured sections on the history timeline?

    • @OOTUS
      @OOTUS 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Few options:
      1) At the bottom right in the history timeline, click the gear icon and (de)select the check mark called "Component Color Swatch"
      This wil only add the coloured sections to the history timeline. (As is the case in this video)
      2) In the DESIGN workspace, choose INSPECT > "Component Color Cycling Toggle" or simply press Shift+N
      This will also (temporarily, until the setting is turned off again) change the colours of each different component in the viewport to match them to the colours in the timeline section.
      Note that the various colours can only represent different components! If you only have one design with several bodies, but not multiple components, you will only have 1 colour in both the viewport and the timeline.
