    I've seen people install this supercharger - and they say they don't work.
    I believe it worked for you because you recirculated the air in the piping - allowing the boost to stay in the system and forcing more air into the Supercharger.

    I have studied this video and some of the earlier ones with lots of interest, I have some questions and observations - would you agree that the GReady valve is acting more as a bypass valve when under no load and it is then the drop in vacuum that closes the valve to push (re-route) air through the supercharger, once the revs rise? So the GReady is not working as a BOV, as in a turbo set up, but a bypass, until you want the supercharger to build boost? I think it is important just how much spring is used in the GReady to keep the bypass open at idle / low revs. (There is also vacuum required for the rising rate fuel pressure regulator - would you agree, again vacuum activation is also important here, too). My other question though is, when you are on boost but changing gear - and the (main) throttle body closes QUICKLY - yet the system still has some boost in it .... where does that momentary boost go? Is it then passing back up the GReady? and the GReady is then acting as a normal BOV? The boost on quick gear change unseats the GReady valve for a moment and pushes air back round to the inlet side - which is useful. Do you think this is how your system is working? The reason I ask is that on my set up (Alfa Romeo 33 16v) I currently have the main throttle body in the wrong location - it is before the charger and I am just trying to work out a re-configuration - but although I have a bypass valve (BMW Mini) I may also need a GReady BOV as well. Thanks for doing your / this video in English as that helps too. Thanks and keep the videos coming. :-)

    • @JoniK1
      @JoniK1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      With supercharger you need to release the boost pressure on low load because there's no place where it can go and that's why it will do damage to boost pipes, throttle body or supercharger itself. So almost any dump, blow off or bypass valve will do, vacuum will close it when there's enough load. I had to use very soft spring. Yes you need vacuum with fuel pressure regulator also, otherwise the pressure will drop with boost. Yes the boost pressure will be released when you change gear because of the vacuum, valve is open. Bypass valve works better when changing gears because the boost pressure is steadier

There’s a factory tune for it capable of running 5 psi of boost from a Eaton m65 sc. but instead of that if I use this and cap the boost would it work similar?

      Yeah that's correct, AMR500 flows enough air to produce about 150hp (500cc per revolution) so if you already have that it will just be a restriction. SC12 or SC14 is better choice for bigger engine. Later I upgraded to Eaton M62 (1000cc per revolution) supercharger to keep the revs lower and it's a lot quieter also, you can barely hear it. Easiest way is to place throttle body before the supercharger, it helps a lot. There shouldn't be any problems with low boost. Power increase is easily calculated, with 0.5bar you have 1.5x power so about 120hp. With same pulley ratio as I have you should see about 140hp 😊

    Interesting video and thanks for the upload. I see the data but the maths doesn't work out based on the information about the supercharger that is available online and i saw a post stating you had larger injectors so was it really the supercharger or supporting mods and a good tune that gave extra power.
    I will probably have to test this myself but considering my other supercharger projects on small engines have been 1-2k for known brands to get a similar gain but typically without changing fuel systems.
    Keep up the hard work as know videos are time consuming and a big tanks

      I already had 50% bigger fuel injectors fitted before supercharger but those were a bit too small with boost, nowadays I have 100% larger injectors and over 1bar of boost with Eaton M62 supercharger. Engine was already tuned in the first (na) run, this 1.2 8V FIRE engine has only 60hp stock. This was second engine I boosted with supercharger. I tried the first one with stock fuel injectors but it was already too lean at 0.2bar of boost. Then I bought 30% bigger injectors but those were good up to 0.4bar or so

    Besides the fact that it was running lean those are some pretty decent games for a 215$ off of Amazon. I would imagine with the proper ECU and injectors you could probably gain another 20 or 30 horsepower out of it which is a very respectable for $215 Plus your charge pipe and blow off valve. Really for the price you can't beat it on demand power with a whole lot less work than a Turbocharger would cost you. How much boost was it making? You did a great job with your testing I would like to know how much boost it was making if you have changed your injectors or have done any ECU upgrades or adjustments? You really did do a great job in demonstrating this and I would really like to see what it produces after ECU,injectors when it has the proper air fuel make sure and injectors 60 horsepower is pretty respectable for that amount of money and you just slapping it on there. I'm going to guess at a even hundred horsepower gain with proper adjustments. Very impressive and great scientific data for somebody that just slapped it on there nice job definitely going to subscribe to your Channel have a good one bro

      I upgraded the fuel injectors later but there was only gain in torque. Gained a bit when I made 2" flanges for the supercharger and boost increased to 1bar. Wow! That's very impressive #s for that supercharger, I'm sure you would have even more HP/NM if you add some more fuel to the boost. Where are you from? Looks like Eastern Germany from the landscape when you are test driving. Thanks for posting your video's I've been watching every one and have subscribed to your channel, you were the only one I could find on TH-cam who actually took that A-500 supercharger apart that did a great job on your details! I've wanted to buy one of those superchargers for a 570cc V-twin race engine I'm building for a Golf Cart I have. I wasn't sure if I would be happy with how they were made inside? Thank you for taking the time and making those videos of disassemble and rebuilding one of these so I can have a better idea of how they were engineered. It should have oil on both side cover's so both sets of bearings are in oil instead of just the gears...... But it's a cheap unit, I understand that, I'm almost wondering if I could make another cover for the front side bearings by the pulley? So those bearings have their own separate oil chamber, with a set of new good brand name ball bearings, and oil on both ends of the supercharger, it would probably last a very long time, before it wears out? But for how much they cost on eBay, I guess we can't complain too much lol. Have a good night over on the other side of the globe my friend, I'm in New York State.

    • @JoniK1
      @JoniK1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I went to bearing specialist to show the bearings and they told me that those are crap, at least 20 years old bearings which aren't produced anymore. They suggested that I should install sealed bearings and just remove the rubber seal from other side of the bearing because oil seals may not be able to handle the pressure and heat for long time and can cause an oil leak to boost piping. So it's mainly just luck how long it will work flawlessly. Yeah the design is a bit stupid. First one lasted about 20000km, second just couple thousand. After second one broke I decided to to go different route and fitted Eaton M62, so much quieter and there's electromagnetic clutch. Greetings from Finland th-cam.com/video/t2s6zwRmiJ4/w-d-xo.html
