14:28 "The nice part about Bloodbath being a 1.9 level is that it's very easy to make out the gameplay" This is like, the main reason I fell out with this game after 2.0 came out. Everyone became absolutely obsessed with out-doing each other with flashy visuals and effects, so much that level design suffered greatly, on top of moving object abuse making levels nigh impossible to sightread. 1.9 and 2.0 hardly feel like the same game in my mind.
AAAAAARGH FINALLY SOMEONE WHO SHARES MY OPINION. i badly wanna beat the gauntlets but theyre too fucking flashy and decorated and i cant tell whats going on :(
On god. And I'm gonna say with 100% certainty that sightreading's gonna be dead post-2.2. It's all memory from here (even though old Insane/Demon levels rely on memory, at least you can still tell what's going on in them). This is why I strongly support creators putting jump indicators in any level below medium demon, since easy stuff are supposed to be accessible for most newcomers (excluding people with epilepsy or eye problems)
Yup, I agree. They're pretty much different games. When I want to have fun, I go back to pre-2.0 levels because they feel like the last levels to still follow some rules.
5:15 as someone who had the experience of beating The Nightmare, I can confidently say that no, the nightmare doesn't set a terrible impression for demon levels. It shows demon levels as more of a challenge than something for the top 0.01%. New players coming along and seeing bloodbath is much less likely to result in a group of new players open to harder levels, than new players coming along and seeing the Nightmare.
First of all, the difficulty of a demon should stay consistent. The nightmare is easier than Clutterfunk. When someone has 2 demons, immediately you think "Are they actually good enough to beat Clubstep, or is it just the Nightmare and the Lightning Road?" It's not the difference between The Nightmare and Bloodbath, it's the difference between The Nightmare and almost any other demon. And that wasn't even the main gripe Colon had with it. His main point was that the gameplay sucks, which I mostly agree with. I think he's overexaggerating how bad the design is (it's not great, not terrible) but I agree that the gameplay isn't good.
Every time I check someone's profile who has won 1-2 demons, I can guarantee you it's either The Nightmare or The Lightning Road. That makes it a terrible impression for demons, especially for online levels, imo.
@@brokenbacon8233 I agree that it does set a slightly worse perceived worthiness of having beaten demon levels (which is really just a complicated way of saying that bragging about having beaten a demon level is meaningless), but the video was talking almost exclusively about the playing perspective, and in that aspect, it's pretty okay.

I think that The Nightmare holds a special place in many people’s hearts. For many (including myself), it was the very first demon they ever beat. We all know it sucks (I mean, just look at it). But for me at least, it marks a turning point in my experience with the game.
my only real problem with dark paradise is that I always mistake those spinny things in the ship section for sawblades, and then end up killing myself trying to avoid them.
I’m gonna be straight. A lot of the level decoration 2.1 and beyond is kinda lame. Pre 2.1 had a lot of simpler level designs but I feel like they were more creative. A lot of levels post 2.1 are just a lot of flashy lights and overly complicated designs.
Great video! Extremely high quality, as always. However, I think that there's another problem with Acid Factory you didn't talk about, which is the Silver Coin placement. As a colorblind person it was EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to spot them, even at full brightness and LDM; they are just hidden by shadows and I could just not distinguish them from the background.

Sure, if you show the game to someone they will say "oh that's terraria", but not because the game is played a lot, but because it's considered a "shameless Minecraft 2d rip-off"

did you notice in every geometry dash update trailer they use the icon that is unlocked when you complete the level shown in the video this happened for the fingerdash and dead locked update and many more!
they could add a "filter" in the most downloaded and the most liked. the "filter" could allow players to choose from "today", "this week", "this month", "this year", or "forever".
I actually really like the nightmare minus the pointless portal and ring spam as decoration. It’s a nice intro to the harder levels in the game and it actually plays really well imo
3:51 it was made in 1.2 the first guaranteed 1.1 level is id 2340 because it has mirror portals, and one of the first 1.2 levels was demon park, since it had the ball gamemode (Id 10109 iirc)
3:57 Level Easy is NOT a 1.0 Level. It is most likely in 1.2/1.3. This is because the ID is larger than (1.2 lvl example) Demon Park and it is in 1.2. So therefore it is During or After 1.2
@@TULLIS-sl9tj Well, but why do they always use real ones? Can't they put made up symbols? And Bloodbath still had a hell decoration and it didn't needed any pentagram or upsidedown cross to represent it. (I'm Catholic also)

I think of HOW, the 3d level. I also think of Hyphen, because of the following orb mechanic. I believe it was made by this creator himself, but that's not why I put it there. I really like how the orbs follow you around and place themselves, severely reducing object count.

I like the nightmare honestly, also pretty sure that in 1.7 you only had 1 color channel + the gray blocks, the only other colored objects are player color objects, so saying it uses colors incorrectly is just invalid. The invisible blocks were used in a creative way in the level, compared to how they're usually used Yes the ship parts, even though repetitive, is something you don't really see in other levels. Yes the nightmare is very repetitive in general "It constantly switches designs throughout the level" If it didn't you'd say the decoration is repetitive or that there's little variety.
I have always....AND LET ME TELL YOU, ALWAYS thought that sonar could be the first level of "adventure 2" where all levels follow the theme of sonar, same feel as the normal level+ new music and being a bit harder

The muscle memory is in graved to my arm that if I ever miss it, I'd have to face a 12 year sentence
For me Promises was a good beginner level back when I first got into the game with GD World, since it was one of the only 2* levels available there
Promises: can i stay here?
Payload: Get out of here!
did you notice in every geometry dash update trailer they use the icon that is unlocked when you complete the level shown in the video this happened for the fingerdash and dead locked update and many more!
OMG you're right
Cool food for thought. I'm gonna beat the mdk secret level for that icon straight away when 2.2 releases
2:25 I’ve seen this over a dozen times, and this still makes me chuckle
5:53 “heres a color wheel, heres how it works, Study up”
Idk why that made me laugh
they could add a "filter" in the most downloaded and the most liked. the "filter" could allow players to choose from "today", "this week", "this month", "this year", or "forever".
8:59 WOAH cool transition
Never noticed that. Cool!
I agree

I actually really like the nightmare minus the pointless portal and ring spam as decoration. It’s a nice intro to the harder levels in the game and it actually plays really well imo
the lightning road is the one with the portal and ring spam, not the nightmare
bruh i got a geometry dash ad on a geometry dash video with the geometry dash app running in the background

it was made in 1.2
the first guaranteed 1.1 level is id 2340 because it has mirror portals, and one of the first 1.2 levels was demon park, since it had the ball gamemode (Id 10109 iirc)
15:24 cancer
i forgot that dogshit level existed. thanks for reminding me of its braindead gameplay
Current list (accurate as of July 2023)
1. OuterSpace (almost 83 million)
2. Sonar (almost 80 million)
3. The Nightmare (almost 78 million)
4. ReTraY (73 million)
5. Level Easy (70.5 million)
6. Bloodbath (almost 64 million)
7. Dark Paradise (nearly 59 million)
8. Acid Factory (almost 56 million)
9. Dreamland (almost 55 million)
10. Promises (52.5 million)
3:57 Level Easy is NOT a 1.0 Level. It is most likely in 1.2/1.3. This is because the ID is larger than (1.2 lvl example) Demon Park and it is in 1.2. So therefore it is During or After 1.2
🤓
Well he didn't know lmao
its 1.6 level
Maybe it was made with the 1.0 editor as back than you weren’t forced to use newer versions of gd they do it now to prevent expliots
Actually, maybe it was made on 1.0 but then it was forgotten until 1.1/1.2.
The thing I like about Bloodbath is that it's the only Extreme Demon back in the day with a hell theme without s4t4nic symbols in it's deco
why does it matter? first of all bloodbath is still a hell level... so... and second off satanic symbols fit perfectly in... hell...?
@@TULLIS-sl9tj Well, but why do they always use real ones? Can't they put made up symbols? And Bloodbath still had a hell decoration and it didn't needed any pentagram or upsidedown cross to represent it. (I'm Catholic also)
@@VoidPaul97 why do u care? It's a hell theme man, that's the point. why would they put made up symbols? I'm catholic aswell, btw
@@VoidPaul97 youre going to hell, you watched a bloodbath Gameplay, its a big no-no
@@P3ndejosG4ng Bloodbath doesn't have satanic symbols in it's deco, and there's something called confession, IDK if you ever heard of that (I know it's a joke, just for people who didn't get it, or are inmune to sarcasm)

6:15 the video cut off right here and put an ad right when he was saying “super,” making it just say “soup” and gave me a Panera soup ad
BRO THAT HAPPENED TO ME TOO BUT KINDER
If this guy lost it over the nightmare I don’t wanna see him look at the lightning road…
I love how when talking about levels that revolutionized GD٫ he was humble enough to not mention The World Machine
as someone who's played since 1.7, I appreciate the references
I think of HOW, the 3d level. I also think of Hyphen, because of the following orb mechanic. I believe it was made by this creator himself, but that's not why I put it there. I really like how the orbs follow you around and place themselves, severely reducing object count.
In my eyes, the map packs are a museum of old levels and some other random levels.
promises was the very first level in gd world back in the day, as well as the very first online level i ever played. nostalgia always hits me so hard with that one, specially given the song. never not smiling when hearing about it :,)

8:05 I remember playing this level in geometry dash world 4 or 5 years ago, I even think that it was one of the first levels that appeared on the featured list for many time

I beat Bloodbath back last year. It was my first extreme and my dream to accomplish in this game. Still hard to believe that I’ve done it. Love this game
I know I’m late but I just wanted to let Colin know that this video is amazingly crafted. All of the jokes landed and I truly enjoyed the whole thing! Keep it up!

I love you GD Colon, your content is great! And, streaming in the middle of the night? Even more great!
First of all its not a stream, its a premiere. Amd it might be like the morning or afternoon for him.

“Some of them are pretty good, some of them are the nightmare” caught me lackin
I like the nightmare honestly, also pretty sure that in 1.7 you only had 1 color channel + the gray blocks, the only other colored objects are player color objects, so saying it uses colors incorrectly is just invalid. The invisible blocks were used in a creative way in the level, compared to how they're usually used
Yes the ship parts, even though repetitive, is something you don't really see in other levels. Yes the nightmare is very repetitive in general
"It constantly switches designs throughout the level"
If it didn't you'd say the decoration is repetitive or that there's little variety.

3:00 it’s good but it’s garbage at the same time because he said so
*of course*
blood bath and sonic waves to me are the most iconic creator levels.
true
It is so satisfying to beat The Nightmare as a new player and i dont think its that bad of a level
Guys I am here from the future to confirm that 2.2 DOES COME OUT IN 2023 DECEMBER
What??? I don't believe you!
True
I replayed the part at 8:29 when you get scared like 90 times 🤣
retray doesn’t actually have a “unique” retro style, a good portion of its ideas are actually taken almost directly from gigabyte by triaxis
