    Looks like maybe Innovv should have thought twice before sending you a unit to do a "how to install" video. Don't get me wrong, your video is excellent in overcoming the typical installation considerations. However, the company must have known that this is a challenge from their installation focus groups, right?

    Wow, that seemed like a huge pain in the ass for little return. Also, Innovv, micro USB in 2021? Seriously? 🙄 That's an automatic no for me, regardless of how good it is.

    Wait, wait....so you are telling me to press the button to save the clip. When you go down, or a car hits you. the last thing you or anyone will be thinking about a stupid button! Press the button , press the button, press the button and your hands are not holding the bars. LOL I'm not going to be taking my bike apart for this. Thanks but I just keep using my GoPro.

      It has an accelerometer so if it senses a jolt, it'll also protect the file.

    Brutally hard glass for the lens in a easily swappable cover, a much less fussy bundle of cables (and longer leads) from the front camera, and some kind of built-in image stabilization would go a long way to improve this. How about some module where you simply pop in an SD card somewhere accessible that's not inside the camera devices?

  • @dsofe4879

    Footage honestly looks really bad, I hope it's just something with the TH-cam compression

    You watch, Go Pro is going to learn from this and add a button. If you push the button it will save the last 60 seconds that just got videoed.
    Great video, great product. Not sure I could install it myself. Looking forward to lens protection on future models as I ride off road about 25% of the time.

  • @DanielJLopes
    @DanielJLopes 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Sorry, I disagree with the "amazing footage" - and I know for a fact that as soon as you soak it, it will stop working.
    I really wish Innovv or Gopro made some more stabilized imagery, and work on it's size, I mean, does it work like a dashcam? Yes. I like that it has a button? Kind of - you can also just get one big card and always record everything... Is it more than, for example a pair of Garmin Dash Cam Minis? Other than the waterproof (and res)- which is not that good - no.
    I understand you will feel kind of obliged to not be harsh, but that way, don't expect your audience to trust your reviews.
    Note that this is my opinion, you are welcome to disagree :)

    In the market for a Dashcam for the bike but this one would be hard to find mounting points. My handlebars are already full. And being a sports bike the nose mount given the unit size and the wiring harness would be next to impossible. Back to the research table.

    So I’m considering getting one of these cameras but here’s the question. So there I am doing about 95 and a 45. Nobody’s on the road I’m doing some hooligan shit for a brief moment then, as I slowly get into town, I slow down a little bit maybe 10 miles over at maximum then some wingnut watching TH-cam videos while driving cuts in front of me. I slow down but not enough, and I go down like a sack of potatoes, the fact that the camera shows me doing 95 prior to this incident wouldn’t that incriminate the hell out of me?
    Just curious to know your thoughts

  • @TravisTerrell
    @TravisTerrell 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Surely a camera from such a high end manufacturer designed to be outdoors is waterproof enough for full-rain use?! I might worry about one of the $100 ones, but at this price range I'd expect near perfection.

    Great video review. Your moto videos are some of the best on TH-cam. Congrats.
    The K5 video quality looks good for security/emergency use but it's on the low side for making videos except as b-roll, e.g., poor stabilization.
    At that location, you definitely need a lens cover. It will get pelted with sand, bugs and debris.
    Alternatively, get a clear windshield and mount behind. This is what I do with my Insta360 One X2 (mounted off the triple-clamp and continuously powered via USB). It also provides a 360 view, albeit the rear one largely obscured by me. Here's a sample from doing some cartography on a local twisty. The placement has the advantage of getting the full instrument console (speed, lean angle, brake pressure, etc.) along with the full 360 front, side and rider views.
    th-cam.com/video/C53xAOJme0M/w-d-xo.html
    As for transferring video, I'm surprised that it doesn't have a sealing rubber cover for the USB and SSD access. Connecting a cable to the USB from your laptop would seem most convenient. Maybe you can fabricate something yourself that does this.
    i have a friend with a Multistrada and will forward this to him.

    • @CanyonChasers
      @CanyonChasers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I should have clarified that. It's good for security footage, but it's nowhere near the quality of a GoPro. My plan is only to use it for incidential little shots.

    I think the front camera unit is so large because you can't get 4k video down any cable that is thin/flexible enough to be practical for installation. So the recorder needs to be next to the camera. I would share your concern about exposure to the elements.

  • @chap8265

    • @thoham60
      @thoham60 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Quality is actually very good, although not quite at GoPro level. So many things can be off, never judge from a single TH-cam clip. Camera install (vibrations), camera settings, editor export, TH-cam compression, your network and playback settings...
      But mount the camera as high as you can, or you get a lot of pavement and more dirt on the lens.

      @briencrotty2322 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ckeilah That's the same challenge I'm looking at when I look to put one of these on my Triumph Rocket 3. There isn't an area near the front of the bike to hide the unsightly and bulky connectors. It would be WAY more useful to have the wiring tails coming out of the front unit long enough to run them back all the way under the seat, and hide the connections there. It also looks like the video quality is low enough that you can't read a license plate. Is that what folks are seeing, too? If that is the case, this makes it somewhat less useful for a dash camera. Thanks, B
