Hi Bruce ... on a grotty day like that, hard to draw a comparison. Under the circumstances, to me GoPro looks a much better picture but I think that is because the lens of the Innovv must be dirty or something. Even the rear camera looks a better picture. Great effort on your part though getting it all done.
@@jay26cee i agree with you. i tried my gopro in my car a while back going through the settings, and higher frame rates 60fps and above means ability to pause and read a number plate .... I got a k2 innov for 🎄, not fussed over 4k takes up so much storage space too.
Very nice to see that the feedback has been listened too and that it has been taken up. As the K2 it looks very good quality. Front unit looks bulky, reducing where it can be mounted unfortunately, not as discrete. Audio is very good, if only it could be updated on the K2. I must admit I do like the remote and the option to take pictures when needed. WiFi connection certainly seems a lot quicker. The night time video better than the K2. I like it very much, not sure I would rush to change from the K2, might be interested if they did a part exchange. Will possibly have to wait for the K3. Thanks for the insight. Good review mate.

Good review. I bought a K2 the day before the K5 was announced (a couple of weeks ago) but I do prefer the more discrete front camera of the K2. I have installed it but not been out yet and I am very impressed with the build quality. It also appears I got the latest transformer but the download speed is slow when I tested it. It would be good if it was a software issue and a firmware update would speed it up.
Great informative video Bruce (at least the singing is only in the outtakes now), looks like a great system, good clear picture, excellent sound (better than the GoPro IMO), the app looks good as well. Seems like a winner to me, shame I've got no room under the seat to fit the electronics.
Bit late to the party but as you've tried both the K3 & K5 I'd value your opinion. I've no interest in vlogging or uploading video to FB. But after having myself and my Mille wiped out by Miss Myopic, my gopro with a dead battery and having to rely on witnesses for the insurance I need a dashcam. So the question is, is the K5 worth the extra for my purposes over the K3? I don't think front camera size is an issue fitting it to my R1100S. Great video, enjoyed all the innovv vids.
Great review. The front camera seems to be good but in the lanes, the view was pretty muddied with the road dirt, so I was wondering if a higher mounting point would be better for the front camera, but the rear camera looked good at all times. Fantastic review though mate and to be honest if you are happy with the mounting, that's all that counts. Sound was really good and the video quality is excellent.
It was moisture in the air on the front lens, there’s no way of avoiding that. The rear is clearer as the lens is facing backwards and therefore isn’t affected by it
@@teapotone ah I see. The camera is still good quality and I love your reviews. Its great that you review these products in such good detail. I enjoy watching your videos a lot.
Looking forward to getting my k5 and c2 even more now. I'm not too concerned about the k5 dvr/camera size, it's not much bigger than the knockoff gopro I've been trying to use.
The first few minutes wasn't a fair test on it, as it was wet on the lense. But as soon as it dried the quality came threw.. Its pretty impressive.. I use a go pro myself and I wouldn't change over from it just for reasons I want the helmet mount.. But its a great bit of gear regardless, great quality, sound was good a bit crisp, but good, GPS is good also, looked accurate. Pretty professional set up being honest..it works great in low light 2... Only reason I wouldn't change from go pro as I say I enjoy the helmet view.... Its a perfect set up for a bike like yours and all other all out touring bike id certainly use 1 then 👍
A newbie question, With 2 channels, front and rear, does the 2 cameras record at the same time? Meaning say at a given tme 10 am,while riding, would see what is recorded by front and rear camera on 2 separate files? How do you know files from front vs rear camera feed?
Got to be honest, I'm impressed with the quality of the footage and audio. A little pricey, but, if you want really good quality video...... Great video, as always 👍 Keep it up Bruce. Be safe, ride safe and have fun. Grumps
I have been looking for a cam setup for the Yamaha Venture so I have it on the x-country trip I am planning in the summer. This looks impressive. I might wait to see what the K3 costs when it comes out but I might still splurge for the K5. Very impressed.
Teapot one great videos of the K5. I’ve fitted to the RH indicator with minimal show of front fairing to the left. The one thing I’m finding hard to do is seeing the captured video on my Mac book pro in ts format. Do you have a preferred software for processing that and also for post production. Many thanks. Keep up the brilliant work. Pete
@@teapotone Thanks for getting back to me teapot one. I have recorded in MP4 and opening in finder is ok with the rear but the front is jittery. Im guessing its my 2012 Mac's onboard graphics memory . I've been looking at running dashcam viewer software to give me all the gps location speed data but, again its not able to run. I like the idea of final cut pro but, am thinking i may be in need of a machine to run the big file sizes used by the front camera on the K5. Looking forward to being able to roll the wheels legitimately soon. until then stay safe and thank you
Fantastic review. Great structure to the film, everything flowed nicely. Agree re the sound. It was alot crisper, but a bit tinny. Not so keen on the bulky front camera and very interested in that half way house of the K3.
I’ve actually got the K3 on the bike at the moment as I had to do an install and review of that. I’ll be going back to the K5 though, picture quality and Wi-fi speed are far superior 👍
Hi Bruce. Like previous comments. Thanks for your reviews. Will you do a review/information video about how to download and edit. I notice there is a USB? Next to the memory card slot. Is that used to download? Is it possible to obtain the footage from the camera in bulk rather than having to download over wifi/app one clip at a time. Which editing software would you recommend, Da Vinci? Lots of questions - sorry.
Hi Pete, No I won’t do a tutorial on editing, nobody would watch it! 😬😉 Just take out the SD card and whack it into your computer to get the files, far quicker than trying to download them all via Wi-fi. I use Final Cut Pro X as I use a Mac, but you can use any editing software to edit these files, they’re just .mp4👍
I just purchased the K3 based on your review. Although you may need to amend what you said about the K3 Wifi. It does not come with the faster 5Ghz. It still comes with the slower 2.4Ghz. as far as I can see thats its only let down.
Hi Ian, I say the K3 Wi-fi is slow in the review bud 🤷♂️ I think this slower Wi-fi is a massive let down of the K3, it’s one of the main reasons I’d choose the K5
@@teapotone yes to make like a holiday film with fotos and film fragments and I saw on de film about the k5 that you had it on screen in the background. Thanks by the way for your reaction.
@@teapotone to clarify, I’m looking for a program with which I can upload my films and photos from my sd card. Also one to edit with, and, best case possible one that combines the two. In your video you have one running on your Mac in the background, so I was wondering which that was and if it might be a free download.
Ah ok Rob - firstly to get the files from the SD card to your computer you just use either ‘Finder’ on Mac or ‘Explorer’ on Pc. Both of these are free and already come with either system. Store your files on an external hard drive, preferably an SSD one if you intend to do complicated editing, or the cheaper traditional hard drives will do if you’re only doing basic stuff. On the Mac I use Final Cut Pro X which is a semi-professional system and is about £400. If you’re just starting you can easily use windows movie maker on a PC, or iMovie on a Mac. Both are fairly similar and will let you do some basic editing such as movie to photo integration in a slideshow-type of deal. There are lots of other software available such a Vegas Pro, or Da’Vinci Resolve etc I simply used youtube to teach myself how to edit and how to use my software. Cheers 👍
Superb video Bruce! Will you be reviewing the K3 also? That may suit my needs better with a smaller front camera like the K2 you had. I have a CB500X and trying to hide the K5 camera would be a 'mare. Keep up the superb work all round. Cheers, Michael.
Great review! Thank you for your work Bruce! What software do you use to edit your footage on Desktop? Just had my K5 installed today and I am excited to try it out. Will sure watch more of your videos for information 🤗. Kind regards, Ian - from Switzerland 😉
Great vid full of information, I was looking to get a k2 in the next couple of weeks so I think I will wait to see what the k3 is marketed at seems a good alternative to the k2 , I think the k5 is great but unless your using the video footage it a it ott as a dash cam, impressed with them actioning changes after reviews, keep it up tp1
Well deserved as it was a fantastic review!! I had not considered Innovv before but now realise that I need one as i get frustrated with the GoPro!! Now got to decide between the K5 and K3!!! Any advice or is it just personal choice?
For me if I was spending my own money, I’d get the K5 without question. The footage crisper but it’s the faster Wi-fi which is a game changer for me. It’s so much more user friendly to use the app with the better Wi-fi, you can view files and look at the gps mapping info easily and without having to wait ages. I also actually prefer the all-in-one nature of the K5 to the separate DVR and camera setup of the K2/K3. Weird because I really did like the K5 setup originally, but now it’s the one I choose to put on my bike 👍
@@teapotone once again, many thanks for all the info etc. My INNOV K5 arrived yesterday and I’m waiting on the delivery of a ezCAN from NN to fit it easily to my K1600GTL, following your installation video of course!!! Just to let you know, they have replaced the screws on the memory card door with small captive thumb screws, so no fear of lost screws!!! Thanks again, look forward to trying it out in a few days!
Hi Bruce . I'm in the process of buying a camera kit for my Triumph Tiger 900 gtp and can't decide between the K3 and K5 kits . What record time do you get on the K5 assuming you are using a 512gb card in the K5. Thanks
It’s a dashcam system bud so it just constantly records in a loop. You select how long a ‘loop’ you record, from 1min to 15mins I think. I get almost 2 days of full riding before it starts to overwrite the first file
Do you know whether the K3 can be substituted directly for the K2? In other words, accepting that it also has an external mic and remote connections, could one just buy the K3 DVR (any ideas on price?) without purchasing the cameras?
No idea on price as yet Kevin. No you can’t just switch the DVR module, the latest 1080 cameras used in the K5 rear and K3 are slightly different (better quality) and the DC Converter needs to be updated due to the added requirements of the better cameras, mic and remote
Nice video, but I think it was a bit unfair to compare with the K5 mounted low in the wet, filming a lot of pavement, and the GoPro up high in the drier. I wanted to have the cameras as high as possible, but "invisible", protected and with an unobstructed view. Sounds hard, but I actually think I nailed it. My front camera is where you have your remote. I wanted it on this side as we drive on the right, and I figured I will hardly ever need access to the card. Found a longer M6 bolt and mounted it there with the included angle bracket. Then drilled and carved a hole through the black plastic for the lens. (That plastic fairing is only €50 on a 1250GSA.) I mounted the remote on the mirror stem, using the included mount. The rear camera sits in the middle of the reflex, stole this idea from A Bike Thing. Let me know if you want to see pics of the installation, and I'll link to my blog. Snow and cold here in Norway now, so still waiting for warmer weather to test, but I think both cameras should have clear good views.
Full disclosure, all that technical stuff, was way over my head. But I can guess, that was a thoroughly well crafted and informative review. Cheers 👍🏼 😎 🇺🇸 🌎
Yes that should be no problem. You should just be able to double click on the file and it should open and play? Have you recorded as .TS or .mp4 file format? Are you running windows or Mac?
Hiya Bruce Happy Xmas I’ve got multiple bikes..lucky me Which helmet cam would you recommend for insurance cover and fun. Or would you look at insta 360 x3 or that type. Value for money/functionality among various options of use. Ta
Hello bud, If you want a camera that you can use on multiple bikes, and one which you can use for insurance purposes but also use for TH-cam vids etc, then something like a GoPro (or GoPro knock-off) or DJI Action would be brilliant. Drift cameras are ok but their firmware has had terrible reliability in the past (as has GoPro’s to an extent, but the Drift video quality is poor in comparison). Insta360’s have incredibly reliable cameras, but they’re fairly expensive. Personally I’d go GoPro Hero 10 or 11, or the Insta360 X2
Ah ok, there’s no worries about weather protection as the entire unit/system is totally weatherproof. Chase on 2 Wheels has actually released a vid on the K5 and he’s used the 1080 cam at the front so he could ‘hide’ it better than the 4K. Certainly is an option, but personally I’m not worried about hiding the cameras, I just want them out the way as much as I can. Ideally I’d like to mount the front under the beak somehow, but in the timeframe I had to do this vid, I couldn’t figure out a mounting system for it 🤷♂️
Looks very good, and the sound is a huge improvement! Even under the seat it sounded great! Thanks for the review Bruce you have certainly answered all the questions I had. :-) The App looks much better too. My K2 GPS was iffy, so looks like they also sorted that! I think the soon to be released K3 would be more than adequate for me.
Might be worth spraying some hydrophobic spray on the front camera to held clear the lense, and if it doesn't bother you too much have a slight angle on the camera to the side so there is airflow going across the lense
Could you please advise, if this innovv k5 make records in parking mode by the motion in the front of any af the cameras or it makes records by the g-sensor signal only?
Another great video Bruce! Though it is difficult to distinguish the difference as your uploaded video was only able to play at 1080p (HD). Is there a way you can upload so it can be played at 1440p which would more closely resemble 4K, enough to at least show a difference?
Thanks for the review, good to see the next generation here. I preferred the sound of the K5 as it seemed clearer than the GoPro. The picture quality improved when you got onto the dual carriageway, but did you clean the lenses before joining it? It would be good to see it in higher frequency comparisons with the GoPro especially for dashcam type footage. I bought a C5 for training sessions but it hasn’t been too successful. The K5 looks like it might be worth going with but would choose this over a GoPro? When using the remote to capture video, does it record the current time clip or from the push of the button or even record from a period back before the button push? You mentioned image stabilisation but I haven’t seen anything in the spec that says about this! Is there any? Lots of questions I know and probably better asked of Steve but your thoughts/input would be appreciated👍 Cheers and keep up the good work.
I clean the lenses every time I’m off the bike - basically I clean my visor, GoPro’s and Innovv cameras all at the same time. Yes I’d just cleaned the lenses prior to the dual carriageway footage, but the rain had also cleared away and I was moving faster, so the flowing air helps to keep the front lens clearer. Not sure what you mean by ‘higher frequency comparisons’ bud? The innovv was filming at its optimum resolution of 4K at the front at 30fps, I could’ve gone to 1080 at 60fps admittedly. There is no inbuilt stabilisation on the INNOVVs but personally I don’t think they need them 👍
Honestly what I'm most impressed about is them listening to feedback so effectively. The cameras are good for a dashcam, no doubt, but them actually listening. Brilliant.
Aye they really do seem to want to produce kit that we bikers want, so they are keen to listen to feedback and adapt where necessary 👍
They don’t listen that well. I’ve been trying for a year to get them to put explanations of settings IN THE SOFTWARE…..it’s a great camera but crap software that leaves users wondering how to use it or set it up so you don’t get 200 accident videos from a 30 minute ride. I have installed it but not been out yet and I am very impressed with the build quality. It also appears I got the latest transformer but the download speed is slow when I tested it. It would be good if it was a software issue and a firmware update would speed it up.
Try the new app it speeds up the transfer a bit
Great informative video Bruce (at least the singing is only in the outtakes now), looks like a great system, good clear picture, excellent sound (better than the GoPro IMO), the app looks good as well. Seems like a winner to me, shame I've got no room under the seat to fit the electronics.
Please sent the k3 I'm waiting for it...
Bruce just a hint a little of ceramic coating on the lens and problem solve with the dirt or rain...
Yep definitely - funny you should say that as I’m doing that very soon 👍
Just bought and installed the K2 and this came out. Does it save the loop videos to the correct folder or are some randomly saved to the Park folder?
Hi tpot i see that you but your phone where the satnav is mounted how do you do it
I just use this cheap cradle

Bit late to the party but as you've tried both the K3 & K5 I'd value your opinion. I've no interest in vlogging or uploading video to FB. But after having myself and my Mille wiped out by Miss Myopic, my gopro with a dead battery and having to rely on witnesses for the insurance I need a dashcam. So the question is, is the K5 worth the extra for my purposes over the K3? I don't think front camera size is an issue fitting it to my R1100S. Great video, enjoyed all the innovv vids.
Hi Gavin,
If it’s purely as a dashcam and you’re not worried about utilising the app to view files, then the K3 is a good buy.
👍
Its a perfect set up for a bike like yours and all other all out touring bike id certainly use 1 then 👍
A newbie question,
With 2 channels, front and rear, does the 2 cameras record at the same time? Meaning say at a given tme 10 am,while riding, would see what is recorded by front and rear camera on 2 separate files?
How do you know files from front vs rear camera feed?
Yes it records two separate files, one for each camera. The files have an ‘F’ for front and ‘R’ for rear
On my FZ6 S2 I have the microphone mounted in the tailpiece :-) I would still use my GoPro 4k on my helmet, would consider the K3 when available
Got to be honest, I'm impressed with the quality of the footage and audio.
A little pricey, but, if you want really good quality video......
Great video, as always 👍
Keep it up Bruce.
Be safe, ride safe and have fun.
Grumps
Cheers Grumps, you too 👍
I have been looking for a cam setup for the Yamaha Venture so I have it on the x-country trip I am planning in the summer. This looks impressive. I might wait to see what the K3 costs when it comes out but I might still splurge for the K5. Very impressed.
I’m testing the K3 currently, vid coming soon 👍
@@teapotone Looking forward to seeing your review!
I'd be quite Interested in the K3 when it drops if I can afford it. Like the sound of the built in external mic, seems quite handy
Hello, thanks for the video. Does the live view through the app has a time delay or is it possible to use it as screen?
Teapot one great videos of the K5. I’ve fitted to the RH indicator with minimal show of front fairing to the left. The one thing I’m finding hard to do is seeing the captured video on my Mac book pro in ts format. Do you have a preferred software for processing that and also for post production. Many thanks. Keep up the brilliant work. Pete
Hi Pete,
My Mac opens the files up no problem in finder? Are you recording in mp4 or the other format - think it’s TS?
I use Final Cut Pro to edit
What mobile phone case do you use on your bike? I enjoyed your Sinnis Terrain 125 review.
Thanks bud, I use a case and mount from Ultimateaddons.com
If you want anything from their store use the code TEAPOTONE10 for 10% off 👍
Is it possible to move the speed, time & date etc to a different position on the screen?
No not that I’m aware of
Its been a few months now so how are you getting on with the camera kit ?
I’ve actually got the K3 on the bike at the moment as I had to do an install and review of that.
I’ll be going back to the K5 though, picture quality and Wi-fi speed are far superior 👍
@@teapotone I’ve just this morning ordered the K3. 🙄
Cancelled K3 and ordered K5, £20 off with code TP1 superb, owe you a pint.
Nice one 👍
Hi Pete,
No I won’t do a tutorial on editing, nobody would watch it! 😬😉
Just take out the SD card and whack it into your computer to get the files, far quicker than trying to download them all via Wi-fi.
I use Final Cut Pro X as I use a Mac, but you can use any editing software to edit these files, they’re just .mp4👍
@@teapotone thanks.
I just purchased the K3 based on your review. Although you may need to amend what you said about the K3 Wifi. It does not come with the faster 5Ghz. It still comes with the slower 2.4Ghz. as far as I can see thats its only let down.
Hi Ian,
I say the K3 Wi-fi is slow in the review bud 🤷♂️
I think this slower Wi-fi is a massive let down of the K3, it’s one of the main reasons I’d choose the K5
Brilliant video packed full of information, very impressive system!! Well done!! Top quality all round! 😀☘
Great video Bruce. Covered all the details I've been pondering. 👍
Thanks Murt 🙏👍
Cheers Scotty 👍
Good review. Would the 512gb card last more than 24hrs? Would be nice to be able to record a whole Iron Butt rally... Cheers.
Cheers, yep a 512gb lasts about 2 full days riding 👍
Which program do you use putting it on your computer I am trying some but no results yet . And thanks for the video I bought it because of that.
Not sure what you mean here Rob, do you mean what editing software do I use?
There are lots of other software available such a Vegas Pro, or Da’Vinci Resolve etc
I simply used youtube to teach myself how to edit and how to use my software.
Cheers 👍
Outstanding review. Thank you. Now I’ll get the details on front camera size to see about mounting. Interested in K5 or K3.
Covered all bases there Bruce, great review... I’m not in the market for a camera just yet,but if I was then I think this would be top of the list..
Superb video Bruce! Will you be reviewing the K3 also? That may suit my needs better with a smaller front camera like the K2 you had. I have a CB500X and trying to hide the K5 camera would be a 'mare. Keep up the superb work all round. Cheers, Michael.
Cheers Michael,
Yes mate I’ll be getting the K3 soon and will install it and do a review ASAP 👍
Great review! Thank you for your work Bruce! What software do you use to edit your footage on Desktop?
Just had my K5 installed today and I am excited to try it out. Will sure watch more of your videos for information 🤗.
Kind regards,
Ian - from Switzerland 😉
Hi Ian,
I use Final Cut Pro bud👍
@@teapotone Bruce I assume I do not need to stay connected to the K5 WiFi all time, correct?
Correct - you only need to connect to the unit’s Wi-fi if you want to utilise the app
@@teapotone thanks for getting back to me 👍
thank you for this, Now that i daily my bike ive been wanting something hard wired in, and these look good.
Good video Bruce.
Brilliant review!!!!
Thanks Ian 👍
Just ordered a K5, and hope it works as well as my old K2 :)
I cannot get the GPS Google map image like you show- is that a different apt? - I get the Lat/Long position but not the map.
Front camera is really soft, regardless of the dirt on the lens. The rear provides a much clearer image. Resolution is not everything.
Brilliant as ever @teapotone , definitely going to invest, do I still need a hex ezcan to install on my 2017 gs?
It’ll make it simpler but you don’t NEED a HexEzcan on a GS. You can just tap into a switched-live feed somewhere, same as on other bikes 👍
Nice one mate... up the Chelsea!
No screen module, Right?
@@teapotone thanks think I will go for the K5
How’s the heat of the unit after recording?
No issue at all - it’s outside on a moving bike so there is plenty of air cooling
@@teapotone Many thanks for the update on that.
Can you manually record and turn record off
No, it’s meant to start and stop recording with your ignition.
Ha Ha cheers bud 👍
Bruce you need to invent a micro windshield wiper that mounts on these cameras. you would be rolling in cash. :P Great Video as usual.
😂👍
Impressive bit of kit. Not sure how I’d mount that all on my Superduke GT
I have just install my knew one , i am having problem to open and record the video in a computer Could you help me
Hi Sandra,
What problem are you having? I don’t understand what you mean by ‘open and record the video in a computer’?
Sorry my English. I am having difficulty to open videos in the computer. And I’d like to send the videos by WhatsApp or email It is possible
Yes that should be no problem.
You should just be able to double click on the file and it should open and play? Have you recorded as .TS or .mp4 file format?
Are you running windows or Mac?
Do you have a long term update on the Innovv?
Hiya Bruce
Happy Xmas
I’ve got multiple bikes..lucky me
Which helmet cam would you recommend for insurance cover and fun.
Or would you look at insta 360 x3 or that type.
Value for money/functionality among various options of use.
Ta
Hello bud,
If you want a camera that you can use on multiple bikes, and one which you can use for insurance purposes but also use for TH-cam vids etc, then something like a GoPro (or GoPro knock-off) or DJI Action would be brilliant.
@@teapotone thank you
Damn! That's one great video!
And I am really impressed with the device - let alone the app! Top notch!
Sound is perfect Bruce, the suspension in your neck and GOPRO copes better than the Innovv !!!:)
Wondered if the cameras could be switched, larger front one to the rear where it's better protected?
Yes you can, but whatever camera you out at the front will still be subject to weather conditions etc.
@@teapotone
Thinking of space available at front of the bike along with weather protection of the DVR unit.
Ideally I’d like to mount the front under the beak somehow, but in the timeframe I had to do this vid, I couldn’t figure out a mounting system for it 🤷♂️
@@teapotone Why so low? Higher is better, and you can also hide it behind the fairing.
You can only do this on a GS if you cut the plastic bodywork - I’m not prepared to do that
Looks very good, and the sound is a huge improvement! Even under the seat it sounded great! Thanks for the review Bruce you have certainly answered all the questions I had. :-) The App looks much better too. My K2 GPS was iffy, so looks like they also sorted that! I think the soon to be released K3 would be more than adequate for me.
Thanks Scott,
Aye I’m thinking the K3 will be the answer to most people’s requirements for one of the dashcam-type systems 👍
Might be worth spraying some hydrophobic spray on the front camera to held clear the lense, and if it doesn't bother you too much have a slight angle on the camera to the side so there is airflow going across the lense
👍
Could you please advise, if this innovv k5 make records in parking mode by the motion in the front of any af the cameras or it makes records by the g-sensor signal only?
Looks like a great bit of kit I thought the footage was great and the sound on the bike was good to great vid 👍
Cheers Matt, much appreciated 👍
Another great video Bruce! Though it is difficult to distinguish the difference as your uploaded video was only able to play at 1080p (HD). Is there a way you can upload so it can be played at 1440p which would more closely resemble 4K, enough to at least show a difference?
Cheers bud - not now I’m afraid as I’ve rendered the vid at 1080. I’ll keep that in mind for future vids though, my fault, apologies 😬🤦♂️👍
Lots of questions I know and probably better asked of Steve but your thoughts/input would be appreciated👍
Cheers and keep up the good work.
