    I really do agree with the issues of where and how the DVR unit connects to everything else. Having those connectors so close to it is definitely an oversight by Innov, they along with the fuse for the power unit should be right my the power unit itself. It's under the seat or behind a panel depending on bike, and it makes far more sense to keep connections away and out of as much weather as possible.

    • @teapotone

      Hi Dave,
      I’ve not noticed any considerable shake on any of them tbh. It’s not as stable as the likes of GoPro and Osmo, but they’re not action cameras, they’re dashcams, so the quality is superb for that.

    Hi, nice video! Yesterday I installed K5 to my R1200GS and have few questions if you can help. As I see from your video as well as from videos of other vloggers who installed K5: WiFi starts to work after starting engine only, but not before (after switching on ignition). if you just switch on the ignition even leds of remote control unit do not light or flash, right? So what is the purpose in this case of connecting yellow ACC cable to positive ignition supply? I have connected yellow ACC to ezcan to the output to additional tail/stop light so when I switch on ignition my additional tail lights starts to work but may be it has too weak signal to make K5 work as add-tail lights are configured in ezcan to light not bright …

    Sir. I see many videos about installing the camera. I would like to see a video of how it is used. How you record it (I know it starts recording itself but) how you setup the cameras before you ride. How you use the app; how you download it on your computer. I know this is an old video and I anticipate you are still using K5. I ride a ZX-10R here in the US and there are not very many places to put the DVR and run the cable. if you don't mind making a video of all that for both the K3 and K5. Thank You in advance.

      It’s due to the limitations of the 4K front camera. It’s not possible to get the 4K ‘info’ down a cable to a separate DVR module (not at this price range anyway), so the DVR module had to be integrated into the camera.
      There’s a new K3 system coming out which is upgraded 1080 cameras like the K2, but with the faster Wi-fi, better gps, remote and mic of the K5👍

  • @alanoswin8827

    I think I share your thoughts, 1 big step forward but 3 steps back, looks like the desire for 4k has happened before the designers are capable of putting it into a practical module, k3 if I was to buy I'm afraid. For the Gs the 4k camera has to be mounted with the built in mounting hole to a bracket as you shown, on top of beak nah sorry.

    I have a K1 on my BMW K1600, with the front camera in the oil cooler duct below the headlight. I don't have room there for the K5's many wires and connectors. It might fit if the wires were 5 inches longer so the connectors would have room. I'll have to find something else. (The K1 loses it's time and date when the battery runs down.)

    Nice video Bruce. I don't know why I watched the whole thing as not only do I not have an INNOV camera system but I don't have a bike at the moment! lol Anyway, nice to see how it all goes together! One thing I would mention is, I know we spoke about the possibility of dirt and spray kicking up from the front wheel onto your front camera, I find that on my e-bike I get water kicking up off the forward facing mudguard and the wind blows it back up over the front of the bike and even up to my face. Might not be as much of an issue for you but something to think about? Cheers!

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks bud, aye that’s something you’ll never avoid I’m afraid. Wherever you put a camera, it’ll always be affected by moisture and dirt in the air - even if you put it behind a screen, the screen will just get dirty and block the cameras view.
      I think the issue is these cameras are fixed in position so they don’t benefit from movement as much as a head mounted cameras does - so the turbulent air is constantly changing direction across the helmet can lens, and therefore it keeps cleaner for longer 🤷‍♂️👍

    Hi Teapot - Great video on the install of innovv K5 - question should the blue light on the DC Convertor stay on all the time even when bike is not on - i set mine up and i am concerned about that blue light draining battery life. Q2 -on the K5 set up you connected the yellow wire from DC convertor to something different. i have a 2018 BMW1200GSA and set mine going to the the red/blue wire that you did for K2 - seems to work but the option of running it the rear looked much easier - can you do that on 2018 model or is that piece only available on 1250?

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the blue light should stay on all the time - the DC converter has optimal battery technology so if it detects that the voltage of the battery is below a certain point, it deactivates the park mode and goes into standby.

      Stephan do NOT buy the K2!
      There is a new K3 coming out soon (I’m just doing some beta testing with INNOVV just now to iron out the bugs) and it has a remote and external mic like the K5 (Wi-fi is much slower though).
      At the very least I’d go for the K3, but personally I’d now spend my own money on the K5. The better image quality, and faster Wi-fi make the whole thing much better to live with day to day, weirdly I also think the mic quality is better somehow.
      I’ve put the K3 and K5 systems on and off my bike many times now, and the K5 is actually much easier to install.

      @@teapotone Thank you for your comment, you are not making it easier for me to decide haha.
      4K image is more interesting, of course, but the smaller camera is nicer to build away instead of that large model of the K5.

    I’ve heard you talk about this on the podcast and even found a local supplier - however having watched this I think I’ll be waiting for the K3, for the reasons outlined already. The DVR unit is relatively huge and those cables would mess with my OCD too much.
    Do you ‘really’ need 4K or is 1080 sufficient when you consider if only be using it as an insurance, and unlikely to be using any footage for a Spielberg blockbuster.

At least with the K2/K3 and similar products if some idiot with a knife makes off with your cameras you still have the main module hidden under the seat containing your videos and you can just get new cameras for it. I'm surprised this design made it beyond the prototype phase - it will be interesting to see how many they sell.
