    I am not blind. But I have a progressive invisible disability and Molly was the person who got me to finally accept that I’m in fact disabled and needed to start using my resources and accepting myself instead of working against myself. And because I watched her it lead me to this channel where I can see a healthy loving relationship where disability isn’t a burden. The visibility that you and Molly and so many other disabled TH-camrs provide is something you all may never fully understand just how important y’all are.

      I have physical disability and always felt so unconfident because of it. Molly’s description of a confident and capable disabled person made me realize that I can be all of those things as well.

    I just love Molly so much and I'm so happy you were able to meet and everything. I remember when I first started watching her videos, It was like a drug, I couldn't stop myself bc I was so interested. Since I was a little kid I've lived and studied right next to a school for the blind and I would often see them walking around with their canes, but I never knew how to interact with them whenever they seemed lost, or anything about them really. It made me so happy to find her channel and be able to educate myself about the people I had grown up seeing but new nothing about. I'm so thankful for her channel also bc it made the algorithm show me your videos too ❤ now I get to learn and understand and know a little bit more about disability, I feel my life is richer and above everything I have a better understanding of when I have to step in and ask if someone blind needs help, which was my main concern since I was little bc of this school next to my house. Thank you guys :3

    I’ve been watching Molly for a few years and I have been following y’all most of this year. I have an invisible disability and also use a service dog. When y’all were talking about embarrassing dog stories, I immediately cringed because I recently had my own also involving poop and jfk airport. 😂 When we were flying out of JFK recently it was raining and one of my dog’s quirks is that she does not like getting wet. She will walk in the rain if she has to and will only pee. Well I guess she held it as long as she could which was inside jfk before we could check in/drop off bag. Luckily it was solid and I had disinfecting wipes so I was able to clean up, but I was so embarrassed and my anxiety went up cause I feared I’d be barred from boarding my flight especially since my disability is invisible and my service dog is a chihuahua mix. But after some tasking and a delayed flight, we got home safely.

    I can relate, because it's not just the blind who may resist using a cane. I developed Spinal Stenosis, and I was lurching along unsteadily, resisting using a cane. One morning on the way to work a man gave me the dirtiest, most disgusted look, and I knew right away he thought I was drunk at 9:30 am!

    Molly- “facial wounds! They really bleed!!!”
    Me who was bit on the face by a dog I was pet sitting on the eyes/nose area, and needed 2 hours of reconstructive surgery on my eyelids- “you can say that again” 😂😂😂
    The disabled community is the only one you can join at any time. While I’m already in the community for multiple other reasons, had the dog bit slightly different, I could have gone completely or partially blind, lost an eye, etc. Thankfully I just have some nerve pain and twitching, but yeah. What’s funny is one of the thoughts I had while in the hospital waiting for surgery was “if I go blind, I refuse to use the cane….. I can’t trust myself to go anywhere without gps now, take away a sense and I’m doomed! Ima need to get a guide dog or a boyfriend stat to take me everywhere” 😂😂😂

      I had an incident with a dog too. Only, it was my dog. I was walking my dog, and there was some food that someone threw on the ground. When my dog went after the food, he wrapped his lead around my legs. When I fell, my face hit the curb. I had a gash on my left cheek, half my face was bruised and I tore tendons in my left foot. I could have been injured a lot worse than I was. I have a little nerve damage in my toe, and a small scar on my face as a result.

    I found that when I lost most of my sight and was declared legally blind the first hurdle was admitting that I couldn't do stuff. The second was having to use a cane that then showed publically that I had an issure and the third was getting my first guide. Even though I love dogs getting a guide dog to get around was the final breakdown that I was blind and my sight was not coming back.

    Hi, question about the Breed/Mix with Bernese Mountaindog: i heard Bernese Mountain dogs have a rather short lifespan due to health issues - are the mixes healthier? I was really surprised to hear about Bernese Mountain dog being mixed in for guide dogs as i imagined it wouldn't make sense to extensively train a dog with a short life-expectancy.
    Love the breed - just had no clue it could be any part of this sort of work

    • @darkessraven
      @darkessraven 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe it makes it a little healthier but it depends. Mira does trace health issues to ensure that certain dogs don’t reproduce if it’s known they have the genes to pass it down to offsprings.
      Her first dog died at 9 for health issues while still a working dog.
      Her second dog was genetically tested to have no genes for any issues to come up ( look up her video about dna testing to learn more) and was always shown to be very healthy until his last year.

So, for a school project we are making podcasts on different "groups" of people who struggle with dehumanization and stereotypes. I was wondering if Paul, you are able to explain your experience and, Mathew, if and or what hurdles you had to deal with when establishing a relationship with Paul. Also, for the both of you, What would you like to see from the general public in supporting the blind community/What do you wish that the general public would change about the way we approach blindness. Thank you so much! I know that you guys must have a plan to make videos... however I would love it if you can respond to this in a video. IF not just replying to this comment would be great lol. Oh no, I just listening to the story about doggy diarrhoea in the airports.
    Made me wonder, have they ever suggested to carry emergency puppy training mats for those types of situations?

    It seems like the progression into using a cane and eventually a guide dog is rather like the progression to using a wheelchair for some of us. I used to be able to blend in, now I feel like I stick out like a sore thumb.

      Day 1 of us saying WE LOVE THIS IDEA.... but also I need more info. Is it like a baby penguin with a maple liead on its belly? Is it a plushie? This could work on so many levels

    • @Kelyori
      @Kelyori 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@MatthewandPaulOfficial you could always do multiple, for example a rockhopper penguins with a rainbow mapleleaf on its head, wearing the mapleleaf like a tie. or more sutle like it being the whtite patch. it would certainly add some variety to the penguin pranks

    • @Kelyori
      @Kelyori 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      so do some sketches of multple diffrent ideas, filter them down, you could even do a poll to decide which gets made into a plushie, beacause lets be honsest theese would sell faster than pumkins at halloween

    Y'know, a lot of villians have kick the dog moments to show how evil they are. I think Paul might be secretly evil. He and Mr. Maple are planning world domination, kicking one corgi at a time. Maple is probably the mastermind.
