Really a good speech! ❤ But I don't get why people only know Mr. Maple.😂 If I saw Paul walking down the street, I would instantly go:"MATTHEW!!"😂😂😂😂 Yeah, I apologize in advance for that.😅 But I never been to the US. So you're all save from me😂😂
You are an amazing speaker, by the way! No awkward pauses, you don't say the word um, you kept the crowd engaged with your jokes, wonderful job Paul!! I'm just going to have tissues ready every time I watch your videos. Seem to always bring me to tears! ❤❤❤
Dear Paul, you are not only a natural Artist, but you are a natural speaker. You looked so relaxed on stage and told the story as if you were sitting down to have coffee with your best friend with whom you feel most comfortable. I enjoyed every second of it. Thank you for sharing your experience. Your easy laugh makes me unwind and let go of some of my own stress!
You click baited me 🤣 I was really REALLY waiting to see puppies. I imagined you in a room surrounded by Labrador pups. Thank you for sharing this with me, very moving and very much appreciated. Take care you 3 ❤🦮 🙂🐿🌈❤️
I got matched with my service dog this month. I have moderate hearing loss, my dog is to help me hear fire alarms, knocks at the door, etc. Hearing you talk about the excitement building is another level. She comes the 27th of November, and I'm in full nesting mode cleaning and tidying out cupboards to make space for her toys and stuff. So excited.
Your eloquence is stunning - not just your ability to speak so effortlessly and to share your life's experiences so fluidly, but to be able to convey your evolving emotions over the course of your journey through blindness so simply but also so powerfully and evocatively is a rare gift. Thank you, Paul ...
I'm so happy you posted Paul's whole speech! I had no idea guide dogs where raised non-profit, by volunteers, nor that the organization continued to cover important costs their whole life's! That's really cool and in a way gives me hope for humanity (but also makes me sad, that it's not state funded)
My hubby and I raise puppies for Southeastern Guide Dogs in FL. While this organization is a different entity than the one Paul is speaking of, all guide dog organizations collaborate to breed the most motivated and healthy dogs to do the critical jobs they are tasked to do. Wherever you are in the US or abroad, if you are interested in raising a guide dog, please reach out to your nearest organization. You will be rewarded multiple times over for your time and dedication.❤
8:53 when Paul laughs and the subtitles just say “I love you I love you I love you” 😂 And, as a fully sighted person, I fully agree that getting a guide dog is something I’m envious of! What an experience, and Mr maple is so lovely!
I had a coworker who raised service dogs. He lived in Ohio but always brought a dog to our office in Maryland when he flew in. He’d take the dog into DC to practice subway skills while there. Very dedicated volunteer :)
Yesterday I was on the train and I saw this girl 20ish with a guide dog just like maple. I don't think she was blind.. Maybe something else or maybe she is a trainer. But the dog did wear a vest that said guide dog. I asked her if I can pet him and she said yes! He was sitting next to her very calm and the second I approached to him he stode up and wag his tail and was so happy that I was petting him. He licked me as well. It was the hylight of my day and week and even months.. I am not blind but I'm very depressed and anxious. I love dogs (and other animals) so so so much. And it's been a while since I had a dog... I can't afford it right now because of my house situation but I want a dog so much. They are my friends they can make me smile after not smiling for days and months.. ❤❤❤ You made me cry. Thanks for showing the world how amazing dogs are❤❤❤
Idk how much has changed, but I even if you don't think you could be a guide dog volunteer, I def encourage volunteering at local shelters. They ALWAYS need help.
I listened to the whole speech and got somewhat misty eyed but when he said "Dog Day" was Oct. 25 I almost cried because that's my birthday that's so special I'm super happy for y'all Mr. Maple seems really sweet
Paul you are amazing and your attitude is so inspiring. Thank you for sharing your story and life with us. I'm glad Matthew and you seem to have a wonderful relationship and life. Thank you for being a wonderful dog dad to Mr Maple. Please continue to have a wonderful attitude and forgive Matthew for the pranks.❤
Paul, I’m an optician and contact lens fitter, I have had education with dealing with blindness! I live in New Brunswick! You are an amazing speaker! I absolutely love you and Matthew! You are so amazing! PS. I so love Mr. Maple! My daily encounters with these amazing fur people always blows my mind! I have to agree with you that it always have to be a perfect fit! I’m always so happy to see Mr Maple in your videos!
You were a natural Paul and I could tell the audience loved it as much as I did. Mr Maple was good too as he just lay there relaxing. One thing that always makes me laugh with Mr Maple, is that he always helps Matthew with the pranks.
How good Maple is at his complicated and extremely important job, the loving bond between you and Maple, how well you both work as a team, and how much Maple--both the guide dog service and the family member--means to you... It's just absolutely incredible and beautiful and emotional and awe-inspiring. Thank you for telling us your story.
Paul, Wonderful to hear your experience strength and hope today! What a journey you are on. Thanks for sharing with Tacoma Puppy Raisers Club and with us on TH-cam. It was super fun to meet you three at GDB Fun Day 2023, i was happy i knew your names! 😂 Paul, You did a great job introducing Axl to their handler. How fun to witness. 🎉🎉🎉
Public speaking is super fun! It's always nerve-wracking. I had to present a speech at an EMS conference in front of 100s of doctors and chiefs. Had a blast. You definitely did a wonderful job, no doubts!
Loved the speech, Paul! It was lighthearted but also informative. I could only imagine the 'click' you felt when you had your first walk with Mr. Maple. 🥹 Watching your videos always brightens my day. 💖
Just now watching and sitting here crying. So sweet. God had your right dog in training that whole year! Sometimes we all get discouraged and too anxious for the answers to our prayers, but, He always delivers. He's always right on time. Hugs
Turns out you're also great at the art of public speaking! What a thoughtful and comfortably presented talk. I volunteer with a service dog training organization, and I would love to hear from someone who has had the experience of going out into the world with one of our amazing dogs. I'm sure the puppy raisers will never forget how they felt in that room with you.
Mr.Maple was staring at Paul's feet(In his purple shirt). And after sometime, I saw Maple again and he was sleeping on the floor with his legs out. The amount of sudden cutness rush my heart got omg❤
I can’t imagine standing there talking to a group of strangers I can’t see! You did really well, Paul. I’ve been supporting Guide Dogs for the Blind here in the UK for many years and am now on my 6th puppy. It’s such a worthwhile thing to do.

What a beautiful episode! I already knew the story because I had seen the previous videos, but this time Paul has outdone himself... I was particularly struck by the moment in which he said that the intimate experience of living with Maple is a gift. The relationship with a dog is always something extraordinary because these animals have the gift of making themselves loved in a great way; I am a cat lover and I have one that I adore and that adores me, but I have also had dogs and I recognize that they are more direct in showing their love. Even more so in a relationship between handler and guide dog, in which the latter takes on so much responsibility. I really admire these people who dedicate themselves to raising and training dogs and then letting them go, I don't know if I could do something like that!
That was a great speech and I'm sure the puppy raisers appreciated it ten times more than the rest of us ever could! Love Mr. Maple just chilling the whole time lol

Love hearing this story, I used to work at a vets and we were one of the vets the GDB in the UK used and we used to see puppies all the way through to the retired dogs and listening to you talking about your experience put a whole new side to the story I knew about from the people who looked after the dogs as puppies and as handler's while the owners went on holidays and even who rehomed retired guide dogs 💖, your doing amazing things helping educate people about what you experience as a blind person 💖
Public speaking without being able to look at notes is on another level. Good job Paul.
