  • Hi everyone, I'm Rob, and this channel is a window into my life with Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), a journey that's taken me from the classrooms of my school days, through the halls of university, to the life I lead now. It's a path that has been both challenging and enlightening, as my vision has progressively diminished, leading me toward being officially classified as a blind man.
    From those early days, I've learned the importance of adaptation. As my condition has worsened, I've continuously discovered new ways to navigate the challenges it presents. This channel is all about sharing those adaptations, the innovative methods I've employed to live a full life despite Retinitis Pigmentosa. It's a journey of constant learning and evolving, and I'm here to share every step with you.
    This video is a candid look at my life with RP, sharing the struggles of dealing with a deteriorating condition while striving to achieve my dreams. From learning to navigate with a blind cane, to adapting study habits, to embracing technology designed for the visually impaired, every stage of my journey has been a lesson in resilience.
    But this isn't just my story. It's a call to anyone facing their own battles, whether with RP, another form of blindness, or any challenge life has thrown at you. It's about finding your strength, your community, and your path forward. I've faced moments of frustration and fear, but also moments of triumph and joy. Through it all, I've learned that how we face our challenges defines us.
    Join me as I share my ongoing journey, from the lows of facing an uncertain future to the highs of overcoming each hurdle. My vision may be narrowing, but my perspectives are broadening. I hope to inspire, to connect, and to show that even in the face of adversity, we can find ways to excel and to live a life full of meaning.
    Let's navigate this world together, sharing stories, support, and strength. Subscribe to follow my journey with Retinitis Pigmentosa, as I look back on where I've been and forward to where I'm going, always with an eye toward inspiring others to overcome and to thrive.

    Loved your story of overcoming my friend! It's very inspiring and gives us strength to keep fighting, especially for people like our singer and guitarist, Rudolph who also suffers from retinitis pigmentosa. We are on this same road together! Thank you so much for sharing this video! Congratulations! 👁️🔥👁️👏👏👏👏

    I can relate to this video with also having RP diagnosed aged 28 now 33 and finding things extremely hard and embarrassing at times, it's hard when you say about trying to hide our disability and not ask for help. Iv subscribed to your channel and will be sure to catch up and watch any future videos

    thank you for sharing your journey Rob. I've now shared your video in the hope that my family/friends can find some understanding about how I see. I'm 62, but like you I only have central vision, I lost my husband in September suddenly 2023 and along went my 'secruity' with life.... changes had to be made as I also have the care of our 4 year old grandson.... so now our wheels are a mobility scooter to get us around, yes asking for help is a huge thing.... also working on this.. I wish you the the best and look forward to seeing more of your videos

      Firstly Carol, I’m sorry about your husband.
      Secondly, thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience. That certainly sounds tough emotionally and physically.
      I hope my story somehow lands with your family and really helps them be understanding of what you’re going through.
      I hope my future videos will continue to be useful.

    I have RP also.
    I really suggest a blind school where you can learn cane travel and useful info.
    Your cane is a tool, learn to use it.
    I moved to Denver, Colorado, got my medical marijuana card, and have been doing great.
    My floaters went away completely, no more headaches, eye strain is reduced.
    I'm at about 10-15 degrees for 12+ years now.
    I feel great and my doctors are very happy with where I am.
    Good luck with your adventure!
    I wish you well.

    • @BlindFocusRS
      @BlindFocusRS  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Jason thank you for all that info.
      Did the marijuana help rid the floaters or something else?
      I am due to start my long cane training later this year ❤️

    • @jaceten
      @jaceten 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BlindFocusRS Yes, medical grade marijuana helped.
      My doctor said smoking it lets the eyes get a better dose.
      I take Diamox for edema, 125g twice daily.
      I also take Vitamin D twice daily, 4000IU.
      Having both my cataracts removed in 2010 helped a lot too.
      I went through bling school for 9 months in 2008-9.
      I learned Braille, but haven't used it, sense my central vision is so good.
      Cane travel, computer, and even shop class, helped me learn a lot.
      Knowledge you can pull out of your mental filing cabinet, if it comes up.
      Thanks!

    I’m 5 min in and Im breaking down in tears because I understand completely what your going through and grinding up and his oriole are like oh I can’t see at night either I’m like no like I’m blind already no center vision in right and my peripheral is off in left I have only center in left of vision and some side vision aside the blind line in my right. I totally get you… with glasses. Not wanting to wear them because I was so used to not having them when young and growing up… I am unable to drive because things move too fast and even when I walk non moving things appear out of nowhere or people. I can see the best out of this and life but don’t get me wrong, I have my break downs and that’s okay !!!
