bro I wish you were located near me. You do fantastic work! So clean, organized, and you really care about quality, well done!! I can't wait to install a double-den touchscreen with backup camera in my 1998 Chevy K1500 truck! 🙂
One thing not explained is how to mount without pinching the wire. Its a nice frame but has no relief for wire pass through. I cut the plate and ground a slot for the wire in the frame with a die grinder.
Hey I’m installing a Sony xav-ax5000 to my 01 Tahoe LT. In the other video where you installed the head unit and bezel kit someone asked how do they know if they have a factory amp? You said if it doesn’t say Bose you won’t have one. But my Tahoe doesn’t have the Bose package yet I still have a factory 8 inch subwoofer in the rear. So by rights there’s an amp also right? Also, the Sony wiring harness has the super long light green/turquoise wire coming from it, is that a trigger wire for the back up camera if I add it? Appreciate your videos so much man, thank you!!
Why not use the backup light and ground wire in the trailer harness?? It's right there next to the license plate. Instead of going all the way to the backup light itself.
It’s the same thing. I guess it’s preference. I didn’t tap into any wires on my last install. I just fed an extra wire from the cab to the back and wired it into the fuse box for the reverse lights.
What did running the white power wire from the fuse box to the camera allow you to do? Is this type connection what allows the camera to come on and display with out being in reverse?
I followed this video to a tee. But the lights that are on my back up camera are on all the time. Does anyone know what I did wrong and what I should fix?
Can you draw me the diagram for this setup? The extra 2 wires you did? Would you mind doing that? Like the trigger and power and ground. Etc. Pretty please?
My husband just bought me my dream truck. An 04 Chevy 1500 z71 and boy, I cannot see to save my life cause I’m tiny. I’m hoping to install a backup camera cause I’m so use to newer vehicles so I never was forced to just learn 😂
Just pulled the radio out of my ‘07 classic and there’s a second connector! What is that? What am I supposed to do? The crux swrgm-48 has only one connector!
How do you determine which wire is the trigger wire on the radio harness , if the radio bought doesn’t specify. Is it called something else by manufacturers ?
Great walk through! I noticed that the camera you used didn't show the toe hitch when reversing, can you adjust this camera enough to show the hitch? If not do you have any advice on other cameras that would be capable of this? Thanks!
Great video thanks for making. I do have two questions 1. Can I assume the reverse lights are not on all the time I didn't know if power made it to the reverse lights on how this is wired with power on all the time or are the lights on just when put in reverse? 2. Can a switch be added to the white wire, so the camera is not on all the time only when you switch on the switch or when you put in reverse? Thank you again for this great video & your time!!!!
I have an 05 Chevy I just installed a backup camera. The grid lines do not follow the wheels like in a newer car. Is that normal? BTW, thanks for the video!
With it being wired like this, is the camera on at all times? Soon as start the truck the camera is on and stays on. I can switch to the video at anytime on my stereo. I like this option, I just want to make sure it is not hurting anything being on all of the time. Thank you
Yes, camera will be on when the truck is on. Shouldn't hurt anything, it may reduce the full life of the camera, but for the inexpensive nature of these cameras, i don't see any issue with it.
So I have a 2020 Dodge ram 1500 rear view mirror that has a camera already connected to it. Can you please help me out how to connect it to my 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500.
@@ProvoBeastAudio no sir not yet, I'm having trouble trying to find the power 12v and ground from my old mirror. My 2019 Dodge ram rear view mirror only has 4 wire's, 2 blacks and orange/purple, and pink with yellow stripes.
I am rounding up my accessories to convert my 06 Duramax for a double din radio with a back up camera. I too ordered a licence plate style verses the one they sent with the radio. my only concern & don't seem to see if I need to get an interface connection or not? My truck does not have steering wheel control & when I ordered my harness adapter," Came with the radio install kit " it is a scosche GM05B my truck is not listed on combabilities. Do you have a suggestion as to what plugin I should get? I don't want to pull apart until I have everything to convert. thanks & must add you Rock with all the videos I have viewed on your channel Thank You
06 still requires a smart harness. You can get around it but will have to manually pull certain connections like accessory, illumination, etc that the smart harness would generally provide. You should be fine if you don't have onstar, steering wheel volume controls, bose, etc.
Hi there, any idea why I have some interference on the screen after installing? I followed the install to a tee, and my screen has some horizontal lines across the center only when the truck is running. In the run ignition position the camera looks perfect though
Hey! I noticed you have the same Sony unit I just got. I’m having issues with it staying on in my 97 chevy k1500, even when the ignition is switched off. Any tips for this? Or will I have to use the remote it comes with to always turn it off? (Which is less than ideal). Thanks!
@@dezdez89 Turned out to be my worn-down key coming out while in the accessory position. I read elsewhere that this might be the case too, so now I'm just careful to make sure the key gets turned to the correct position before pulling it out.
No you will need to check with the radio model you purchase to see if that is a feature (besides just displaying the camera when in reverse). Yes you can wire the camera like we did with most cameras, however we suggest not doing so with cameras that have built in LEDs.
Parts linked in the description of the video!
My 01 suburbans door handle is white. Is the backup available in that color.
If not do you think that the black is paintable
This man is doing god’s work. He had no reason to record this other than because he wanted to help people. Thank you sir.

I never comment on any videos, but this helped alot & i was able to install my reverse camera because of this video.

Out of all the videos on YT, this is the only one that does an excellent job of explaining how to add a b/u camera. Thank you.

Good day, do you recall what fuse you tapped into, because I do not have a test light?
So you tapped into the reverse light for power and also tapped into the fuse box for power ???
Wondering the same.
The fuse tap causes the camera to be on when not in reverse.
Why not use the backup light and ground wire in the trailer harness?? It's right there next to the license plate. Instead of going all the way to the backup light itself.
Because the backup light on the tail light works better with the backup camera

Great video. Want to add this to my 2004 Yukon cl but the kit on Amazon just shows the plate. Which kit comes with everything like the kit you used?
Everything we used is linked in the description of the video.

Is the camera compatible with a power acoustic radio
Any reason I wouldn't want to wire the ground on the camera power to the frame?

Sounds like it has noisy 12v signal. You can try a power filter, or swap the camera out to a different brand. amzn.to/3sG49QM
I wanna buy a 2013 Chevy spark for atleast 6k and I’m worried if they don’t come with a rear view camera
what iis the name of the fuse that you found for accessory? i tried this ab i think i blew something out
cant type today. i tried this and i think i blew something because the lights only work on passenger side and there's no power to the radio
For the accessory white wire can I tap into the wire closer to the fuse box instead of all the way back at the camera?
For reverse trigger wire, sure.
That add-a-circuit keeps the led lights on the license plate camera on at all times while the car is running. 🤦♂️
They are night vision LEDs, not white LEDs. They don’t illuminate and are not visible to the eye.
I have an 8ft bed how would I make the video cables connect at the back is there an extension I can get?

hello what size split looms did you use for this install?
do most trucks have that hole under the carpet? for example a 2001 ford ranger?
In most cases there are several grommets under the cab of the truck yes.
What can I do for the led lights from the camara I don't like them to be on all the time while I'm driving?
Either wire the camera to only be powered by the reverse light and not accessory, or choose a different camera without LEDs.
