Thanks very much! I hope to do this someday to my 2005 base model single cab Silverado. I’m adding one nice option at a time. The only thing I’ll need that’s not OEM, is the radio and backup camera. I like this one more than the license plate version. It looks cleaner and more OEM. You must be a teacher at a tech school. You are very understandable and don’t speak too fast, and provide the extra information you think is important, on the screen. This goes for every other video from your channel. Thanks again.
I think you do a very good job with the videos. One think that came to my mind, I have a 2006 and have had to pull the bed twice for fuel pump issues. If anyone installs this system, make sure a service shop knows there is another wire to deal with so they can not remove the bed to service fuel pump. I’ll be putting a weather protected plug at back that can be unplugged when removing the bed.
Thank you for the video. I am doing a camera on my 98 Silverado. This video was helpful because I was searching for good ways to get from the cab down to the frame rail. Using the rubber grommet for the parking brake was a great idea vs. drilling a large hole in my firewall. Thanks again!
Got an 05 avalanche and I'm having some trouble. Some folks said you have to tap into the reverse trigger wire in the black box for them but my head unit has a reverse positive. Guess I actually need to use the reverse trigger instead? Edit: You'll have a reverse + on your head unit which you also need to jump into with the same camera power wire that connects to your reverse lamp. You're using the power from your reverse lights to turn on the camera, then when the camera gets that power you also have to send the signal to your head unit which works via the reverse + cable. It's obvious once you realize that but otherwise wasn't clear at all.
So I have an '03, with the smart harness. Head unit is in, but I was rushed to get back on the road, so I didn't put the backup camera on yet. Planning to do that this weekend. I have power and ground at the head unit of the camera harness, and power and ground at the rear of the truck. The smart harness in the truck knows when it's in reverse, so can I just hook up the power to the reverse light and not use the power and ground at the head unit? An "Either Or" kinda thing? Thanks in advance!
What did you guys do will all the extra wire? I have an 05 crew cab and running the wire similar to I had like a foot or more extra that I just threw under the drivers feet and not quiet happy with that
In typical Amazon fashion, The linked product is now "Road Power", and the harness looks much different. not sure if it's the same quality, or even the same product at this point.
I have these extra connectors that come off the camera, the manual seems to be saying they have to do with the reverse guid lines but I’m not seeing anything to plug them into, any help?
my tailgate doesn't have the drain hole at bottom of gate has to small holes near hinges of gate can i fish the wire thru them i don't see a pinch hazard has plenty of space to move
Followed the instruction here, but I didn’t hook up to the reverse wire (didn’t have extra wire at time) and everything worked just fine. As soon as I connected to the reverse + wire, my passenger blinker started to act weird. Got a fast blink and all my brake lights would blink at the same time. Press the brake and my front passenger blinker would light up. Any idea what’s going on?
Double checked all my conections, and I have evrything plugged the same way you do in the video but on my pioneer dhm160 its still showing no video signal any ideas?
I keep getting no signal, mine only has one red wire and the yellow camera plug into radio, I wired the red wire to purple trigger wire, and reverse lights in back, can’t seem to figure out problem. Any suggestions?
Connect power and ground of the camera to the power and ground wire of the reverse light. Small pigtail red wire on the RCA end connects to the reverse trigger wire of the radio. RCA end goes into the camera input of the radio.
Yes - but most units today run nav from apple carplay / android auto. Native nav on a unit is harder to come by, either in overpriced brand name units, or cheap no-name units.
Either your camera isn't getting power / ground properly or there is an issue with the video signal cable. Sounds like you need to check your connections.
@ProvoBeastAudio I even ordered a replacement and same thing I checked the continuity and I'm getting connection. I had to connect to the reverse positive due to not having a smart plug
Parts used linked in the description of the video!

Man that 03 gmc is in good shape!

Great video. Very detailed yet clear, concise, and right to the point.

I appreciate you coming back and explaining the solution you found incase other people had the same problem
Could you use this on something like a tahoe or Yukon? The lift gate handle is lower than a tailgate handle.
Have you figured it out, thinking to do upgrade it in my Subernan

Very helpful!!!!
How is that camera/handle holding up so far?

Can you tell me what you did with the long parking brake wire? It is the one that I have that doesnt have a match.
In typical Amazon fashion, The linked product is now "Road Power", and the harness looks much different.

Let me know when they make one for a suburban, taho, or yukon

Do these same parts work with the 07 classic 1500?

I ordered this same camera bezel and mine don't have the purple wire at all, just the red and black wires
Same here, did you figure it out?
@@josecruz2538just do like he did but red goes to the purple and black to the ground that’s it
I got a reversed image, seen other backup cameras have a white wire to cut to fix the image. This one doe not? is there a way to fix that?

You've made an error in your connections. Sounds like you are backfeeding your lights accessory power from the radio.
What if my reverse camera kit does not have the purple wire?
it can also be a pink wire
mine don't have the extra wire at all
@@thatcarguy-ts2utdid u solve the problem?
Will this work with the Pioneer MVH-210EX from your other video?
Yes, any aftermarket radio that is backup camera ready.
Double checked all my conections, and I have evrything plugged the same way you do in the video but on my pioneer dhm160 its still showing no video signal any ideas?
Camera is it getting power or bad ground.

@@ProvoBeastAudio found the problem, it was the rca plug not working, cheap one came in the kit and wasn’t getting signal
How do you get the camera in the bezel?
Already installed with the kit
has anybody tried painting these? mine are painted white to match my truck and do not wish to change it to black....
Is there a unit with GPS?
Yes - but most units today run nav from apple carplay / android auto. Native nav on a unit is harder to come by, either in overpriced brand name units, or cheap no-name units.
I thought the camera needs to be grounded to chassis?
It can be, or a ground wire on the truck. It's all the same.
What model Sony unit is that?
XAV-AX3200. Saw it on box when he was reinstalling the tail light, 10 minute mark.
@@TheMazdamn appreciate it🙏
Where's my purple wire????? Only have red and black, wtf?
Where are you located?
Utah!
IT'S ALL GOOD UNTIL YOUR TAILGATE GETS STOLEN OR NEED TO REMOVE TAILGATE BETTER TO JUST INSTALL IN THE PLATES
Tried wiring like this and my radio only works in reverse gear T_T.
Sounds like you've made a mistake on your wiring connections!
I’m not getting visual just a black screen
