Saenchai actually has a total of 327 wins and 49 losses. What the commentator was mentioning is that he's been on a 67 winstreak (69 if you don't count a draw that happened start of 2023) which is absolutely insane. And all of this is at the age of 41.

61-0 is his Thai Fight record, its a league that he got into at the later part of his career. His full resume is 327-49-2 in muay thai. Well actually 327-50-2 if you count his recent loss against Buakaw.

Great reaction bro! There are so many things to learn about Muay Thai. Saenchai is a humble guy, but in the ring he's quite an entertainer to spice things up for the audience. He is Buakaw's best friend, and also lose to Buakaw in his recent fight in 2023. There is great video that a TH-camr go to his gym and Saenchai came out to train and spar with himself, after that he share his lunch with the guy. He is a great teacher.

16:07 A back attack in traditional Muay Thai scores bonus points, because it shows your superiority in having manoeuvred into that position in the first place. The gesture from the guy here is he hadn't quite gotten that memo as it's some of the less mentioned rules of course since mostly this doesn't come up, but he had entered the fight under this ruleset.
Also I wouldn't exactly call him "more like Tawaichai" just because he kicks a lot. Tawaichai, Buakaw and Rodtang are straight up warrior in there to destroy what stands in their way, Saenchai is more a player/entertainer like Lerdsila. Saenchai, overall, does the specific style that he does better than anyone else out there, but if you were to look at defensive techniques only I would argue no one has ever matched Lerdsila, although some like Somluck come close.

about the bow thing, as a Thai I think the reason why he is not bow down might be that he is older than the other guy. in alot of asia country and ofc thailand we have a culture where youger will respect their older people maybe the guy who fight with him see him as a master since he was such a legend fighter in thailand. it would be an honor to fight with him in s match too.

  • @NewAeonWarlord
    @NewAeonWarlord 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

Saenchai is amazing but there are a few things: He has over 300 fights as well, the record of 60something wins was at one specific promotion.
About the gloves: Muay Thai normally is fought with "normal" boxing gloves, the weird wraps you saw here are rope-wraps that are used in a special, somewhat more traditional variant of Muay Thai called Kard Cheuk. In Kard Cheuk, you win by KO, TKO or it's a draw. Of course the wraps cause more cuts than gloves.
Yes, Saenchai has lost before. Most recently actually agains Buakaw in kind of a "superfight" between the two. There are even people who have beaten him several times.
The signature cartwheel kick is more of a show move. you can see in this video that often, referees will stop the fight for a moment and give him a warning about it. It's more a thing he usually does once per fight mainly to showcase skill.
Saenchai is a VERY skillfull and especially very tricky fighter. the promotion "Thai Fight" is a more modern style muay thai promotion (3-round fights, clinches are broken very quickly) and I guess kind of uses his status as this masterful champion by regularly giving him another big westerner to fight that he more or less just executes. Not saying those are easy fights but Saenchai just totally outskills most of those guys.
A big part of his fighting style is psychological. He is good enough to nullify a lot of what his opponents do and get in their head untill they are pushed into pure defence mode and he can just have his way with them. The people who fare best against him are usually the kind who block out all the mindgames and fakes and keep pushing forward. Petchboonchu for example (often called the most decorated Muay Thai fighter of all time and a vicious forward pushing, relentless clinch and knee specialist) beat Saenchai several times when he was still active.

    Awesome reaction!
Saenchai has an insane amount of fights. The 60sometging - 0 was his record on a promotion ThaiFight that he partly owns.
His prime was early to mid 2000s and his last high level fight was I think in 2015 when he lost to Petchmaromot in Lumpini stadium. After that he publicly stated that he's done fighting Thais as he's getting older. As of now he's actively fighting foreigners in ThaiFight promotion mainly for entertainment. The different gloves come from different promotions. The 'real' Muay Thai is done with regular boxing gloves while OneFC modernizes MuayThai by introducing MMA gloves, and ThaiFight promo sometimes do bouts with Hemp ropes as a show (hemp ropes were used in ancient Muay Thai around 100 years ago).
As of Saenchais goat status, many put him in the top 5 along with Samart, Dieselnoi and Namsaknoi. His fight IQ is probably second to none but a lot of times he does get out clinched by high level Thai clinchers, almost all his losses are due to loosing clinch battles.
Looking forward for more Muay Thai reactions!

Saenchai is one of the few highly technical Muay Thai fighters. Much of Muay Thai is giving and receiving punishment and whoever has the better chin wins, but Saenchai doesn't play that game and absolutely styles on opponents that try to play it with him.

Saenchai has a perfect record in Thai Fight which is a specific organization. His total record is way bigger. He has around 300 or so fights. He has lost, but it was a long time since he lost and his win ratio is very big. He is like 42 or so years old but he still fights. He mostly fights non-thai fighters these days (still elite fighters though) and he basically always win against them. Most of his losses are from his early career when he fought mostly other thai fighters in Lumpinee and those domestic organizations. As far as I know he has never been knocked out.

In the olden days, they would wrap their hands in rope to protect the hands. These i believe are like gloves that have the fingers exposed for clinching and stuff. The burmese fighters if i remember still follow the old style of wrapping in rope. You can also see them use rope during thailand vs burma MT/lethwei events

why muay thai fighters are training their strenght is for harder kicks, punches, and all that. and why i dont think many do tae kwon do does it (and i can be wrong here, so correct me if im wrong) is that how many tkd fights are just contact sparring and not a full on fight like muay thai.
and i find it hard to compare saenchai, buakow and rodtang seanse even if they have their own "style of fighting", what they have accomplished is so out of this world that you have to give them the respect they earned. now having a favorite among them beacuse of how they fight and personality etc is another thing.

Just curious about the statistics behind TH-cam. Because I think the "upcoming" segments of videos are pointless and people just put them in because they see others doing it. Do you have a higher instance of people skipping past the upcoming part to where the video actually starts? I don't mean that to sound like an attack on you or saying you aren't original. Objectively, using that niche isn't original, but that doesn't speak to the rest of the video. I'm curious because I skip those parts of every video, and as a professional editor instead of following trends I would use the metrics to figure out exactly what about my content people like and remove the sections they don't. So just starting the video could be more beneficial then wasting our time showing us what we are going to watch anyway. If your metrics don't show a higher tendency for people to skip "Coming Up/ Upcoming" Sections then keep them in. However, if the metrics show that people tend to skip that segment, you would be making your videos better and giving them more of a chance to retain viewers by removing it. Unfortunately, I am a single person so my experience and the fact that I skip the segment doesn't mean that others do, that is why I am curious about the dashboard metrics for such segments on videos. I hope this doesn't come off jerkish I've just been curious about it for awhile.

Muay Thai fighters records are counted different ways. Their overall, starting from their early career on. then, when they go into the different leagues and tournaments, like Thai Fight, Kings Fight, One. Then, there are many fighters like Saenchai, that travel and fight internationally. The 60 straight wins...many more now, is with Thai Fight in Thailand.
Youd asked about what the Art of 8 Limbs is in another vid. Fists, Elbows, Feet and Knees x2. Knees and Elbows the more powerful....obviously.
Youd also asked about fighting bigger fighters...Those fast push and low kicks keep opponents back, and when close, the knees and elbows used with grappling and movement are powerful and fast.
Youve probably noticed, there are lots of styles of fighters, it depends on their talents and their schools. Ive been watching Muay Thai for long enough 25 yrs or so, that Ive noticed that it has changed and evolved.
25 yrs ago, flurries of back and forth leg kicks and elbows until either one broke or was KOd were normal, but as more and more foreigners started learning and competing in Muay Thai, and Thai fighters fighting in Kick Boxing (Kick boxing has no elbows, throws have different rules, Knees and clinching are limited) Thai Fighters had to learn to fight against foreigners that excelled in western style boxing...like raising their guard to defend against boxers. They also had to learn how to fight westerners that had far more aggressive styles....just running in and letting loose rather than having a round of, testing and gauging each other in the first round. The foreigners had to learn to deal with more balanced, flexible and toughened up Thais.
I met some local Muay Thai fighters when I was out at a 7-11 in Chiang Mai that invited me to go eat and drink with them. Those guys were very scared up, cauilifour ears, broken nose, knobby foreheads. One guys ear had literally been kicked almost off one time and had a scare all the way around his ear. Their firsts and knuckles, their shins and fore arms were knobby, scared up and pretty damn intimidating.
The different gloves depend on the different organizations. The bigger gloves are usually Japanese organizations and the standard in Muay Thai. Lumpinee staidium...big gloves, Thai Fight....Old school looking cloth wrap, Im not sure whats under there, it doesnt look like much, and Ive never seen a glove pop out to see. One uses the light weight more open handed MMA gloves. One has Kick boxing, Muay Thai, MMA, grappling, and have had some mixed exhibition type of bouts.
Ive been to Lumpinee stadium and a number of towns and villages across Thailand and Cambodia that either had a smaller stadium, or were in small towns on holidays, where theyd put up a ring at the temple as part of the festivities and the local kids....from 5-6 years old, to 16-17 year olds, then sometimes an uncle fight, or a challenge fight for anyone including tourists. I never dared step in the ring.
Whether Lumpinee or the small village in the mountains, the crowds were always crazy excited and cheering for the fight, and theres a lot of gambling on the fights...its like the betting on horse races you see in the movies, but while the fight is going on.

I laughed when you mentioned Western fighters and their aggressive styles changing how some fought. That was good, and I wouldn't dare to go into the ring with anyone either! Those guys are warriors, and to know they even have open challenges that a tourist can jump in to compete. Crazy! They truly enjoy the sport, art, and tradition, which shows.
