    I got diagnosed with PCOS when I was young, unfortunately by a doctor who knew nothing about it and said I would never have children which lead me into a horrible depression until I found a doctor that specializes in PCOS by accident lol She's started me on Metformin, right now I'm at 1000 mg, I go up to 1500 mg next week. Luckily you brought the Paleo Diet up in your video and now I'm happy that I'm not going to starve lol Thank You, You Brought Me So Much Hope!!!!

    Your first video inspired me to do my own Metformin diary! I had a horrible reaction, but I'm now in week 2 and it's gotten way better!

    I started taking Metformin last year! Started out at 500 MG and worked my way up to 2000 MG a day! I only experience bad side affects when I eat something really carby, or sugary! I've lost about 15 pounds since I've upped my dosage to 2000 MG :) and hopefully we'll get out BFP soon! 😊

    i was just diagnosed with pcos over a month ago, and it will be a month tomorrow I started my metformin. I’m still really learning what I can tolerate while on the medication. But I can tell already that I feel so much better and it’s easy to adjust when I eat healthy nutritional food. But we also like pizza as well in our house. (: thank you for these videos, it’s so comforting knowing I can somewhat “go” to someone that knows my struggle as well! Down 10lbs and feeling better every day 😊 hang in there cyst-ers

    Happy to hear metformin is treating you well. I have been taking metformin 1000mg for about 1.5 months. I don't really have any side effects unless I have ate to many carbs. Then I just feel really bloated.

    For several years I have been on and off metformin because of the side effects. Terrible headaches and upset stomach hoping this time around it will be a little smoother! I too want to TH-cam my journey with metformin and Pcos although my version of it is so negative so far 🤢😢 hoping it will change as my body adjusts to it 😉

    I started Metformin for PCOS back in the end of June, and my doctor started me at 1,000 mg per day (for 30 days) then had me up my dose to 1,000 mg twice daily after the first 30.
    Boy were those first 30 days brutal. It was definitely a shock to my system and I was fine the first few days, then the next few weeks were miserable.
    I finally felt better after about a week into my higher dosage and have felt completely normal ever since!
    I would still love to see a "day of eating" video if you would want to film one! even if a donut is thrown in there!! 😂😂

    If you feel nauseous, have diarrhea etc just cut off your daily dose for 500 mg and see what will happen. If it won’t,switch to xr (prolonging) type of pill

    Hi Kelsie! Just came across this video and wondering why you stopped Metformin? I though one should stay on it at least for a few months to see a difference. Also some people suggest to try both Metformin + Clomid (Lethrozole) simultaniously? Many thanks for feedback and BEST of luck on your IVF round!!!

    I've been taking Met for my PCOS for a month now and I find I have issues if I eat anything too heavy or oily...like salad dressing which makes things a bit interesting but I have lost 7 pounds which I am happy with and I have had my first period in 145 days. Has anyone had a normal cycle return while on met? I am hoping I will ovulate on my own this month. Anyone have any success there? I alway show a faint line on an OPK, do they get darker during ovulation??? Any thoughts out there?

    • @ItsKelsiesLife
      @ItsKelsiesLife  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The test line should be as dark or darker than the control line when you are ovulating. You might start testing your basal body temp. It's a little more accurate for ladies like us with PCOS.

      Yes, I have been taking Metformin for more than 25 years for type 2 diabetes. Never had a bad side effect and my blood sugar in under excellent control. I am 78 now and hoping recent research on Metformin as a longevity drug is showing positive results......one the most popular and useful drugs even invented........

    Hey, took my first 1000mg dose of Metformin yesterday. But I had a horrible episode of Hypoglycemia (Low Sugar). I did read a lot of comments but nobody has mentioned anything about feeling Faint/Lightheadedness/Tremors things like that?!

    • @athinasfagbemi8289
      @athinasfagbemi8289 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are right. This happens to a lot of people using it . Metformin will cause hypoglycemia which in turn increases anxiety, tremors and dizziness. This is from personal experience.

    • @mohnisha1305
      @mohnisha1305 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@athinasfagbemi8289 : Oh! Sorry to hear that yet comforted that I am not alone feeling this way. As all these TH-cam videos only talk about Nausea and diarrhea. But nobody really knows or rather talks about Hypoglycemia which is a very very unpleasant side effect. I switched from 1000mg to 500mg so that I can ease my way into it. Thankfully not severe episode of Hypoglycemia, rather a small one that lasted about 20 min. 🤞😊 Going to continue this for about a week then transition to 1000mg!
      Thanks a lot for replying 🤗

      I'm currently on 2g now after making my way up... I thought I was suffering with low sugar as I was feeling hungry especially on an evening to the point it was uncomfortable. Had my levels checked which was fine and it was thought that I wasnt eating enough carbs. I was also told you need to balance out how much you eat with metformin (basically making sure you eat enough and obviously making sure you eating enough healthy carbs).
      Took 2 weeks & I did notice a big difference by adding a lot more healthy carbs...and it's ok to eat an unhealthy carbs from time to time eg bread once a week.
      I was told its very rare to get hypoglycaemia unless you taking another diabetic medication with it, that's why they don't get people to monitor their levels if they just taking metformin. (That's why they do here anyways).
      I was told just to make sure I'm eating enough and drinking enough as I was also suffering with dry mouth. Things are a lot better now since I've added more healthy carbs and drinking more.
      Hope you managed to get sorted out!

      @@athinasfagbemi8289 Metformin is primarily used to treat type 2 diabetes, so it makes sense that if you take it and have normal blood sugar control your blood sugar will drop....Hypoglycemia would be expected in a non-diabetic especially with a high dose of metformin....

      @robertstancliffsr9575 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mohnisha1305 Maybe Hypoglycemia is not talked about because reducing blood sugar in the number one reason for metformin use. That is the intended effect of metformin, not a side effect..........
