I've been on metformin for about 5 weeks now. We are doing IVF if I donf fall pregnant naturally this month. I take 2 x 500ml tablets at 6:30 every night. It can make you feel sick but if you eat something even if its something small before taking the tablets then you'll be fine and not feel sick at all.

Hello ladies srry for the late reply, but unfortunately the metformin made me very ill and I had to stop taking it 😞 the only good thing it did regulate my cycle I no longer bleed for a month long my cycle is very regular now🙌🏿 I started taking some supplements called myo- inositol and d-chiro inositol instead of metformin and it works miracles and it’s all natural!!! I purchased mines off amazon try them I promise yu won’t go wrong!!

Yes, I tried 4000mcg of myo inositol and it didn’t change any levels for me. Stayed the same as if it didn’t have an effect. I think it does work great for some people but it didn’t budge anything for me. Metformin did after the first month! My dr said when it’s genetic, metformin is needed. But I’d definitely try myoinositol since it’s natural
it didn't work for me. I tried 4mg myoinositol for 6 months and nothing changed. Such a bummer. Tried metformin for 2 weeks and wow! Nearly instant. It's always worth trying natural first though. Natural is my heart but wish I didn't waste the time.

I think I talk about this in a video, might be this one? At my dating scan she said I ovulated on my right side, and when i checked my Flo app where I logged all my symptoms I did note a pain on my right side around the time I would have ovulated.

Honestly, i didnt really notice that many symptoms. If i hadnt had the bloodtest to confirm I ovulated & then didnt get my period, I probably wouldn't have even tested. Looking back now, I probably did have some minor symptoms, but not enough to make me think to test!

It took exactly for 4 weeks from taking the full prescribed dose of metformin to get my period (so about 6 weeks including increasing the dose). I didnt change my diet at all, I eat well for meals anyway but also eat takeaways/junk food throughout the week.

Yes it's normal to feel sick and have an upset stomach... Best is taking it with food and drink plenty. Also having a good balance diet should help. The symptoms should ease off the longer you are on it.

My question is. I was recently told by a breast doctor for an ultrasound on one of my breasts for abnormal discharge. My Question is: When I see my OBGYN in July of 2020. Can I actually ask for metformin? Will the obgyn doctor give me the medication so I can conceive? (Of course, after he tests me for pcos) I have irregular periods (I didn’t get my period last month, of November) My symptoms of PCOS are: irregular periods, skin discoloration, hair thinning/loss, unwanted facial hairs on my chin, cheek bones and neck, & I became overweight... I changed my diet full of fruits & veggies. Less meat. I do my best to avoid any sugar/Caffeine. No dairy products. I have been eating grilled chicken & no beef because it gives me heartburn.
You could potentially have thyroid disease too. Thyroid disease and PCOS play hand in hand. That is exactly what i have and we share the same symptoms. Also avoid a lot of fruit, although it is natural sugar, sugar is still sugar no matter the source. Try to cut down to 1 fruit a day. As far as meats go, chicken is excellent for pcos also salmon. Be mindful of fish because of mercury and you dont want to consume too much if you are trying to get pregnant. Carbs are your worst enemy, it turns into sugar with pcos. Lastly EXERCISE, not hardcore workouts but literally walking 5-6 days a week or light workouts at the gym. If you do hardcore intense workouts the fat you burn will reverse and turn back into sugar and stick back to you. This is of course only if you have pcos. Definitely talk to you gynocologist about options for you. I just started Metformin today and I'm hoping to be pregnant by Thanksgiving. Ive been trying naturally for 2 years now so I'm hopeful. Hannah Lee I did in July. I was diagnosed with PCOS but my thyroid is normal. I’m currently doing keto. Everything for my body i was shown was normal % wise in numbers. I had to give 6 viles of blood and have a ultrasound done by the hospital down the road from my gynecologist. My ovaries do have a few cysts. I was also told by my regular doctor that intense workouts are not what help the symptoms of PCOS.

Hey. I was diagnosed with Pcos. Gyn gave me glucophage xr.. I had Letrozole and pregnyl shots the same month. But I didn't get pregnant. I got my periods again this month. I asked doctor if I can repeat the same again she said yes. But I am not yet sure so I did not take Letrozole.. I. Am just continuing with glucophage Xr (metformin). Hello! Ive had PCOS for a few years now. Currently attempting to get pregnant. The doctor started me on Metformin Oct 18 AND Birth control. I was kind of sceptical on taking the birth control he said it would only be for two months to regulate my period but while taking the birth control also take metformin 3 times a day of 500. I haven't ovulated yet and still waiting for my period but I feel breasts are getting very sore which is good I think coz this means the hormones are doing what it needs to be doing to prepare my body to ovulate. But overall it has really cleared up my cystic acne.

I'm not actually sure of the type, but it was affecting my insulin resistance. I was only on metformin for 2 months so can't really say, I do feel like my legs leaned out a little but I wasn't really overweight to begin with and apparently most people that lose weight on metformin is usually due to them also eating better (apparently metformin can cause you to be quite ill if you eat greasy foods for some people - but I didnt have that problem).

Just following the advice of your doctor. I was told up til 6 weeks pregnancy but that's the advice my doctor gave me...so what mine might say might be different to your doctors advice :) Hope all goes well!

Insulin resistance, caused by PCOS. No period. I didnt have any cysts, they are considering changing the name of PCOS because it's not very accurate - most people with PCOS dont have cysts and I wasn't even tested for them.
No there is no cure for pcos, but metformin helps with the symptoms and balances your hormones out... so if it balances the the hormones out you should be producing a lot less cysts. But there are a lot who are for and against metformin. But metformin isn't for everyone...so it might help for one person with their symptoms but not necessarily for another. But my advice is to eat a healthy diet on it and gentle excerises and drink plenty.

My doctor mentioned it was an option, and I did my research and after speaking with a fertility clinic they said I should try it first, so went back and asked my doctor. I'm sure its different in different countries though

I got prescribed Metformin as of today! 26, No periods at all unless I take birth control and PCOS! 5+ years TTC. I got 5 Months prescription!

I didn't test ovulation myself, I was getting blood tests each week to check for ovulation.
Did you change your diet while on metformin? Did you eat healthier or drink lots of water? This week will be my 3rd week of metformin I started the beginning of May. & I’ve been eating better since March, but no period. so hoping this works.
It took exactly for 4 weeks from taking the full prescribed dose of metformin to get my period (so about 6 weeks including increasing the dose). I didnt change my diet at all, I eat well for meals anyway but also eat takeaways/junk food throughout the week.

Yes its completely normal.. Try taking metformin after ur heavy meals to reduce side effects..
Yes it's normal to feel sick and have an upset stomach... Best is taking it with food and drink plenty. Also having a good balance diet should help. The symptoms should ease off the longer you are on it.

Thats part of the side effects when taking it at first. But later on your body will use to it.

My question is. I was recently told by a breast doctor for an ultrasound on one of my breasts for abnormal discharge. My Question is: When I see my OBGYN in July of 2020. My symptoms of PCOS are: irregular periods, skin discoloration, hair thinning/loss, unwanted facial hairs on my chin, cheek bones and neck, & I became overweight... I changed my diet full of fruits & veggies. Less meat. I do my best to avoid any sugar/Caffeine. No dairy products. I have been eating grilled chicken & no beef because it gives me heartburn.

You could potentially have thyroid disease too. Thyroid disease and PCOS play hand in hand. That is exactly what i have and we share the same symptoms. Also avoid a lot of fruit, although it is natural sugar, sugar is still sugar no matter the source. Try to cut down to 1 fruit a day. As far as meats go, chicken is excellent for pcos also salmon. Be mindful of fish because of mercury and you dont want to consume too much if you are trying to get pregnant. Carbs are your worst enemy, it turns into sugar with pcos. Lastly EXERCISE, not hardcore workouts but literally walking 5-6 days a week or light workouts at the gym. If you do hardcore intense workouts the fat you burn will reverse and turn back into sugar and stick back to you. This is of course only if you have pcos. Definitely talk to you gynocologist about options for you. I just started Metformin today and I'm hoping to be pregnant by Thanksgiving. Ive been trying naturally for 2 years now so I'm hopeful. Hannah Lee I did in July. I was diagnosed with PCOS but my thyroid is normal. I’m currently doing keto. Everything for my body i was shown was normal % wise in numbers. I had to give 6 viles of blood and have a ultrasound done by the hospital down the road from my gynecologist. My ovaries do have a few cysts. I was also told by my regular doctor that intense workouts are not what help the symptoms of PCOS.

I got my periods again this month. I asked doctor if I can repeat the same again she said yes. But I am not yet sure so I did not take Letrozole..

Hello! Ive had PCOS for a few years now. Currently attempting to get pregnant. The doctor started me on Metformin Oct 18 AND Birth control. I was kind of sceptical on taking the birth control he said it would only be for two months to regulate my period but while taking the birth control also take metformin 3 times a day of 500. Do you think it was a bad idea to take the birth control as well?

I haven't ovulated yet and still waiting for my period but I feel breasts are getting very sore which is good I think coz this means the hormones are doing what it needs to be doing to prepare my body to ovulate. But overall it has really cleared up my cystic acne.

so I’m on the Marina now then getting a glucose test tomorrow then after getting on either Clomid or metformin if I want a baby in the next year should I get off the birth control they had me on it to level out hormones I guess my estrogen levels are high and they think my insulin is all messed up what should I ask about to get pregnant in the next year

I'm not actually sure of the type, but it was affecting my insulin resistance. I was only on metformin for 2 months so can't really say, I do feel like my legs leaned out a little but I wasn't really overweight to begin with and apparently most people that lose weight on metformin is usually due to them also eating better (apparently metformin can cause you to be quite ill if you eat greasy foods for some people - but I didnt have that problem).

Insulin resistance, caused by PCOS. No period. I didnt have any cysts, they are considering changing the name of PCOS because it's not very accurate - most people with PCOS dont have cysts and I wasn't even tested for them.

Will metformin cure Pcod completely? Will it dissolve the cysts?
No there is no cure for pcos, but metformin helps with the symptoms and balances your hormones out... so if it balances the the hormones out you should be producing a lot less cysts. But there are a lot who are for and against metformin.
But metformin isn't for everyone...so it might help for one person with their symptoms but not necessarily for another.
But my advice is to eat a healthy diet on it and gentle excerises and drink plenty.

Yes hun, metformin gave me weakness, joint pains, diarrhea and loss of appetite.
If you don't have a healthy live while in metformin it'll will cause bad side effects, avoid sweets,juice,soda,bread.

My doctor mentioned it was an option, and I did my research and after speaking with a fertility clinic they said I should try it first, so went back and asked my doctor. I'm sure its different in different countries though
