Probably originally built for horse and wagon. Can't imagine how hard (and dangerous) it would have been to drive a team of horses up or down that. Tough people.
wow on #16, but absolutley great! Black Bear or Tin Cup have nothing on this trail. Very tempted to do it...I wish though someone would join me....just in case :-D. Congratulations on the adventure and looking forward to seeing the rest of the 20 miles.
@@offroadhub.official ...ah, my bad and butter fingers. The Old Tin Cup is probably what you will like. However what I meant to compare is is Black Bear and Schofield Pass "tension" with these switchbacks. Mind you, I have not done either, but looked at plenty of videos....for planning it. If you are in the area, look at Old Tin Cup road, it looks rocky and challenging, at least to me.
Your footage of the Morrison Trail has got to be the best I've seen thus far. You've got nads of titanium because at 21: 11 and 23:15 or so I thought you were going over. You made it look easy like a Sunday drive and didn't even use your lockers! People who've never wheeled would have soiled their pants or given up at #2 switchback.
I have just one word for this trail. Nope!!! Good for you! I would have stayed in the valley floor and done some fishing. Living in Colorado I've done my share of shelf roads but the older I get the less I feel the need to do them. Thanks for the ride along.
I was disappointed in atrac as a locker substitute for the front. It absolutely is not. I haven't really enjoyed it as a traction aid. But it really shined on this trail!
@@offroadhub.official to be honest, ATRAC did not impress me either. I tried to test it and get the hang of it. I hear it working....but doesn't seem to do much. However I still keep it on when I am in 4Lo.
Looks like the trails are made for motorcycles. Dang man, and you're going solo? Thanks for the drone shot and I'm glad it was able to fight the wind and get back to you. Thanks for the adventure this trail is amazing. Glad you're safe.
You did a great job. I can't believe you drove this by yourself. I didn't know you could install a front locker on your FJ since you have the A-TRAC system. Great job!
Early on, the music made me imagine..... Bond......... Ken Bond..... Then at #16 it was .. Doc, I haven't been able to poop for a week !!!! Great video.
Try Turning back into the direction you want to go before completing your turn. You will find it better for tight turns and save your steering components from wear and tear. Wasn’t surprised you mentioned you damaged steering components 👍
16 looks like it got the inside filled in and rebuilt since when I did it. I was way off camber but didn't want to cut all the way inside as it was crazy steep and loose. I did a pretty decent wheel lift as a result of my line which on a shelf road at that angle felt about 100 shades of bad lol.
I am curious..if you were to do this trail again without filming would you make the same "line choices? Seems because of camera placement and getting the video, this was made somewhat more precarious than necessary. If one was just driving trying to enjoy it could be made much simpler. Thank you for sharing.
@@offroadhub.official Well that is pretty reassuring lol. Reading everything on the internet you’d think they explode if you look at them wrong. I think I’ll gusset a set of aftermarket spindles first as opposed to pulling mine. Keep factory ones as a spare set.
And that one switchback looks sketchy as he**… we’re near Bismarck and might hit this this summer. We usually wheel in the blackhills, camp five area and bogus Jim’s road
I will never understand the ATRAC "Nay Sayers." the system just works, and it works really well. Unlike a locker, you can turn stop to stop with no binding and still put power to the trail. I have had a twin locked 86 toy 4x4, and a twin locked XJ Cherokee. My FJ with rear locker and ATRAC will go anywhere those rigs went with ease.
Atrac works well in the right situation. Atrac will not make a front tire climb a 2 foot rock with no obstruction in front of the opposite tire. A locker works in big rocks where atrac will not. Atrac was perfect for this trail!
@@offroadhub.official I get where you are coming from, and to be honest, figuring out how to effectively use ATRAC was a learning process. I also have a throttle controller that allows me to adjust my throttle response, so that also really helps to keep the engine RPM in the sweet spot. Is it as good as a locker in a straight line? Probably not, but I have done some pretty hard wheeling in my FJ, and it hasn't left me wishing I could lock the front diff.
Hopefully the trail reopens this year, there was a lot of flood damage last year. But it's a great one if you get the chance! The wind in that valley is crazy!
I'd would like to do this trail but I'll be damned if I get out at every switchback to set up a camera !!! I wouldn't do it for the gram let alone the tube !!!
Brother, You take your FJ in some crazy places. Thanks for all your hard work bringing us these videos.
I hope to encourage more FJ owners to go crazy places! Thanks for watching!
Great video. I was clinched up on number 16 like I was in the FJ.
I'm glad you were able to feel what I was feeling. Thanks for watching!
My ass was puckered up at 21:00 and I’ve been wheelin for 35 years!
Yeah that was pretty insane. And the camera is level.... 😬
Well, that was stressful @ 20:00! My pacemaker did not understand why my heart was racing but my body wasn't doing anything! LOL!
Man you have great footage. Keep up the great work!!
Thank you Carlos!
That is incredible! They look like good ol' hiking trails not OHV. It amazes me seeing rigs going up that kinda of terrain!
It's a blast! Thanks for watching!

Ya number 16 was scary. Oh A-TRAC, I love it. It's my go to before lockers. Why don't you like it?

Those switchbacks are pretty scary at times!
Great content. Been wanting to do this trail one of these days.
It's a pretty epic trail! Make it a 2 day trail and camp on it if you like camping. It's a long trail to do in one day. Thank you fit watching!
OK can I just change my shorts watching this!🤣
Yeah, it was scarier to watch afterwards... 😄
i loved the editing on this! good job!
Thank you!
Fantastic I loved the phootages and the trail, regarding the tires, do you air down them and down to what psi
Thank you. Yes I usually air down to 15psi.

No the pump was fine. I blew out my rack and pinion by hitting a rock too hard.😄

16 was extremely bad!! It's scary every time I go back and watch it!
Wow ..... this looked seriously tough..... great driving mate ..... what rack rails are you running? Cheers !!!! You are a FJ trail boss \_/
Thank you! What do you mean by rack rails?
Man you killed the Morrison!!
What an amazing trail! I loved every second of this one. Thanks for watching!
Number 16 even had my heartrate climbing (pun intended)
That was a little sketchy! 😄

I took the easiest lines I could find. It's a precarious drive!
That is why the visibility sucks so bad on an FJ. It is so you don't see the cliff next to you.
😆 very comforting!
Did you ever have any issues with your spindles? Like bending one? Noticed in your walk around you didn’t have any gussets.
No, I never bent a factory spindle, but I know people that have. I think it usually takes a pretty bad impact to bend one.
@@offroadhub.official Well that is pretty reassuring lol. Reading everything on the internet you’d think they explode if you look at them wrong.

What size lift do you have to fit the 35's?
Jose Enriquez Jose he’s running a 3 inch it’s actually a 4” by Dobinsons!
Yeah it's a dobinsons lift, it's about 4".
Cumberland Cruisers on FB, come join us when you head back east to TN..
I'll keep that in mind!
Do you have any cameras so you can see where you're going?
No, I don't have any external cameras.
What’s beeping on your rig when you first started the trail? Some type of warning or? Just curious
It's telling me to put on my seatbelt...
@@offroadhub.official oh gotcha, I didn’t know if the FJ had some type of stability warning.
And that one switchback looks sketchy as he**… we’re near Bismarck and might hit this this summer. We usually wheel in the blackhills, camp five area and bogus Jim’s road
So why did you edit out turn 16? you spoke of the voice you heard when editing...
It's not edited out. It's at 19:24
Locals will try to tell you it’s as hard and as dangerous as Black Bear, which it isn’t. It’s a spectacular trail, though, and a lot of fun.
It isn't technically very difficult, but you could definitely get yourself into trouble. It's really really remote.

My family lives in that area. Never done the trail. I had to laugh at the wind comments. The real news would have been if the wind stopped blowing.
Hopefully the trail reopens this year, there was a lot of flood damage last year. But it's a great one if you get the chance! The wind in that valley is crazy!
Youre s legend
You're very kind, thank you. 😄
Put your seatbelt on...lol
I actually thought about that. Is it better to be belted into a vehicle rolling down a cliff, or take your chances with ejection? 😆
@@offroadhub.official I just saw a video of a lady being ejected from a Wrangler that rolled down Black Bear Pass... Pucker Factor Extreme,
@@offroadhub.official you re really something else...lol.
It's alot easier to go straight up the long ones and back up the short ones.
I never thought it would be easier to back up any of them. The turns aren't difficult to make. Just a super fun trail!
I'd would like to do this trail but I'll be damned if I get out at every switchback to set up a camera !!! I wouldn't do it for the gram let alone the tube !!!

I did this in a subaru I'm the second one to do this trail in a subaru
That would be a challenge. Good work!
