If you enjoy seeing a variety of off road trails and tech videos as I make changes to my FJ Cruiser, this channel is for you! I travel to as many states as I can, bringing you new content every Monday and Thursday. Come along on the journey!
Rubicon Trail // New Engine Trial Run
Check out my footage from the Rubicon Trail, this trip was in June of 2023. The snow was deep this year, and the trail was virtually empty still! 2 FJ Cruisers, 1 new engine, 1 dog, and 3 adventurers had the time of their lives!

2015 4Runner Engine Goes Into My FJ Cruiser!!
มุมมอง 8Kปีที่แล้ว
After blowing up my engine in Sand Hollow Utah, I found an engine from a wrecked 4Runner to go into my FJ Cruiser, that only had 40,000 miles on it! I wasn't 100% it would work, but it turns out that this is a perfectly compatible swap! And most importantly, my FJ is up and running again!
Toyota Engine Destruction // Don't Do This!!
มุมมอง 22Kปีที่แล้ว
What does it take to destroy a Toyota 1GR-FE V6 engine? Not much it seems. A simple obstacle in Sand Hollow was enough to put this engine at an angle that was sufficient to hydro-lock it.
Sand Hollow Cold and Wet Part 2!!
มุมมอง 2.5Kปีที่แล้ว
E3 Affiliate Link: kd691.isrefer.com/go/e3/kmorgancraw/ In the one we cover a few more trails in Sand Hollow, including parts of Wayne's World, 777, and Milt's Mile! Our group for these trails had a good mix of Jeeps and Toyotas. We all had a ton of fun, thanks for watching!
Sand Hollow Cold and Wet Part 1
มุมมอง 1.9Kปีที่แล้ว
E3 Affiliate Link: kd691.isrefer.com/go/e3/kmorgancraw/ In this one I join my local East Idaho off road club, Snake River Offroaders in a spring break Sand Hollow adventure. It was very cold and wet, but we'll call it spring anyway... This video primarily focuses on the trail "Double Sammie" while part 2 will take in 777 and Milt's Mile.
Suzuki Sidekick P0300 Timing Chain Mystery Solved!!
มุมมอง 2.7Kปีที่แล้ว
In this one I figure out why a 1998 Suzuki Sidekick Sport with a 1.8 liter engine won't go over 55mph, and why all the cylinders are misfiring. With a recently installed timing chain, I didn't think that would be the problem, but an improperly installed timing chain can cause all kinds of issues. I'm just glad this engine didn't blow up in the process of discovering what was wrong! Torque specs...
I'm Alive! Muddin And Snow Wheelin!!
มุมมอง 3.7Kปีที่แล้ว
In this video I demonstrate the hazards of driving through mud with only tube doors installed on my FJ Cruiser. Add some cold temperatures to the mix and you really don't want to try it! Then I take you snow wheeling and conduct several recoveries.
Chile Challenge 2022 // Paqui One Chip Challenge
มุมมอง 3.5K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Had a great time at Chile Challenge in New Mexico! The trails down here are some of the best rock crawling and 4x4 trails in existence! Juston and I explore the capabilities of big and little Toyota FJ Cruisers, and get to watch all kinds of Jeeps and buggies and Juggies conquer the rocks!
Trail Hero 2022 Experience!!
มุมมอง 6K2 ปีที่แล้ว
In this one I'm at Trail Hero in Sand Hollow Utah! I cover several trails in this video, cruise the trails with lots of awesome folks and just have a great time in general. Lots of solid axle Toyotas!
Summit Machine Aluminum Links // New Business Rough Start
มุมมอง 4.6K2 ปีที่แล้ว
It's been awhile, but I am alive! In this one I deal with some bent lower links. DOM tubing isn't quite up to the task, so I'll try some 2.5 inch aluminum links. I introduce you to my new shop, then tell you what went wrong...
Backway to Yellowstone & Grand Teton National Parks // Window Replaced!!
มุมมอง 6K2 ปีที่แล้ว
In this one I finally replace the window that I broke back in Oregon quite a while ago, and then me and my family take a drive across the mountains, through the Targhee National Forest to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks! This ended up being a scenic drive, not hardcore rock crawling, but today was the day one of my tires decided to give up on me!
Orange Boxx Fabrication FJ Cruiser Panels Part 2 // Plus A Giveaway!

Orange Boxx Fabrication sent me some new and upgraded panels for my Toyota FJ Cruiser which I'm pretty excited about. These Molle type panels are really useful for storing miscellaneous items up and out of the way! Check out the new panels, see how they're installed, and then stick around to find out how you can get some panels for your FJ Cruiser for free! Link to original Orange Boxx video: t...
FJ Cruiser Tube Doors // Good? Bad? Ugly?
มุมมอง 7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
In this one I pull some tube doors off the shelf that I've had sitting around for a very long time. It's summer, so I thought now would be a good time to give them a try! Tube doors are available for all kind of off road type vehicles including Jeep, Bronco and a few Toyota models. They definitely make you feel more connected to the outside world, but is that always what you want?

Pointless video
@@fyvosioakim3212 definitely! 😃
Instead of the capped C channel why not 1/4 plate with plug weld holes? Also. This has been a great build series..
@@MrDirtySouthCantina thanks! There are lots of different ways to skin a cat!
You sir, have a PAIR 😂😂😅
I came here because I'm thinking I do want a front axle swap. And I came here for you to talk me out of it. So please do your damnedest, because I really don't want this headache or financial burden.
Yep. I'm over it. Great job, great vid.
@rogerbussiii it would be much less expensive to get a Jeep onto 42 inch tires. 😄
So what’s the fix for the bent tie rod arms? An upgraded steering rack? I have a 5th gen 4Runner, I put the weld on gussets on the spindles but haven’t done anything else, luckily haven’t bent one yet
Actually pretty impressive you never broke anything that got you stranded. That's extremely challenging & gutsy going alone. Without peer support (moral support) at the bare minimum... that's impressive! Good on you! What were the suspension/ wheels/ tires specs you were running?
@@Iceking007 thanks! It was a rough day! I was running a pretty basic Dobinsons 3" lift, 315/75/16 tires.
Aloha from Maui
Where are these trails located? I want to check them out.
Once you start don't stop. No matter what speed you decide.
magnifique
Rotating mass makes a big difference
Why do I feel most of the people don’t listen to the spotter,he seemed to be putting them in the right spot but they wanted to do their own thing
@@drewstewart7314 all part of the experience. 😉
I’m thinking of installing a snorkel on my Ram 1500 purely for looks. I never go off-roading. However I drive in a lot of snow and rain.
@@abdullahal-shimri3091 you shouldn't have any issues in that case!
LOL its almost like spending 20k on improving your rig .... makes things easy
@@robertdiaz937 that's a fact. But it also just takes you to harder challenges. There's always bigger rocks!
Ken, at this stage of your FJ build, what size tires are you running here? Thanks! You are my favorite You Tube Off road channel. I hate seeing you quit making video's. Did you get out of the hobby?
@marksmith4539 in this video I was running 35 inch tires. Sorry for my absence, but I've just been doing other things. Maybe I'll get back into videos at some point. I'm still off roading, just not making videos currently. Thanks for watching though!
Yeah, I understand. Making these video's, editng them and everything else is a lot of work, and if you aren't making a new video every week with a lot of views, it isn't worth the effort. Glad to hear you are still out there enjoying yourself.
Are these lights available? I tried finding the website you mentioned and I could not. Google doesnt find anything either
Hey boss how is everything going ? ....any updates to the channel ?
@Krystof.Veritae All is well! I'll get an update/video posted soon. I've just been up to different things lately which I'll share soon. Thanks for thinking of me, and I hope your having a good Christmas season!
@@offroadhub.official Thank You for the reply me and my brother constantly talking about your videos and wondering ;) every time we hit trails we talk what would Ken do lol .....Miss ya mate Cheers & Happy Merry Christmas
Ok thanks man!
The guy who built it for you. Maybe he can built one for me. BTW the 35’s look amazing!!! Thanks
@edgardbernal3261 he's out of the FJ Cruiser world now unfortunately.
Ohh good. I live in St George Utah. Send me the info PLEASE
@edgardbernal3261 what info would you like?
Where is the rear bumper from?
@edgardbernal3261 that's a one off built by a guy I know in Utah.
I have a sterling , so I won’t find chromolis for the rear ?
@loveisallweneedify there weren't any i could find a couple years ago. They probably exist, but the factory axles are pretty strong.
@ I believe you ! How is your set up handling? I’m planning on putting ARB lockers with 5.38 gears
@loveisallweneedify mine handles great with the grizzly locker and 5.38's.
OMG! You are an inspiration! Massive hard work and dedication to get to this point. I can’t wait to see more. What have you been up to? Cheers from Seattle!
@@jpz_6904 Thanks! It was a blast.
“That’s got me thinkin’ a little bit.” 😂
We did that trail 3 days ago. Their was no one but us.
@@tibtb658 I imagine it's pretty quiet on weekdays. It's nice having trails to yourself!
Fj looks like an absolute unit.
Regarding the obstacle that they bypassed: when that guy who is an excellent driver in a capable vehicle felt like putting on a helmet....that says it all...
@@jeffkaupke safety first! 😉
Sadly my first visit to sand hollow I only had time for a couple features and to run Plan B!! First time getting to crawl my xj! No sliders or lockers in 33s and it ran it all clean!! Tilt ‘a whirl and the weird section after next to the cliff def got the heart racing!! Since I don’t have lockers I had to take the right line where that Jeep rolled and had a bit of a hard time with those lil ledges. Def had to sack up and give er the beans! Mad props on taking such a wide ride on there!
@@the_fractured_mind awesome! I really enjoy that trail!
You look healthy. You must have started the carnivore diet.
@sebastianromero420 thank you! And you're actually right on about my eating! 😃
congrats buddy. looking good!
U don't even know about OG Gold Bar, trucks got lost there and ran over for traction
Beware of the 3 toothed guy and his breath
Not the only Toyota sheet metal you'll find there
Did Busywild in my near stock FJ on 33’s about three months ago - had rear locker and A-Trac enabled - had to winch once - price of admission: 1 x half-door window, 1 x rear quarter window, 2 x rear lights, 1 x busted - but still working side mirror housing, 1 x bigger dent in passenger door (had to drive home 3hrs with window down) + lots of dents and scratches all over. 10/10 - Would recommend!
Sad that you want to change your damaged fenders.
Late to the party, but if you find yourself with a pilot hole too large, position a block of timber behind the surface, screw in place through the waste area, re-mark the centre and the pilot drill will drill the timber and stop all the holesaw's movements.
Great idea! Thanks!
Did you mean to make this hard on yourself
@@jacklandsaw4580 because it isn't a hard trail? Before you tell me how easy it is... it isn't easy to save a factory body, and mirrors and lights that stick way out, in January when it's fully wet. Gravity and my break over angle determined the number of times I got high centered. So, did I make it difficult? No.
I’m shocked you completed this trail. Probably the worst off-road I’ve seen have his own channel. Your FG is nicely built, though compared to your level of offloading.
@@jacklandsaw4580 what would you recommend for improvement?
Just out of curiosity. Which unit did you feel conquered most of the obstacles with the least amount of issues? I own a built tacoma and a Samurai. Have always wanted an FJ.
@@vicbaggers6635 on the Rubicon, short wheelbase with good departure and approach angles are the best. But tacomas and other long wheelbases do ok, just not as ideal.
Hey Ken was going to install these just now at my work but the kit I got which was an early one is not plug n play but I also don’t have diodes. I have no problems soldering bit to save some time do you have a cheat sheet for the wiring? Thank you!
@@westrup173 ROADMASTER 732 Brite-Lite 3-to-2 Wiring Converter a.co/d/5DkcuL3 Buy this to make them plug and play!
I have lost a vehicle due to water intrusion. My 5th gen will be getting a snorkel in the near future.
@@kcspeed9980 a snorkel can certainly be helpful in that regard!
The physical damage to the front right fender was not caused by the Snorkel... it was caused by the driver... LOL
@@edisoncs that is true to a degree. If i stuck with just driving the FJ to work and occasionally splashing through a mud puddle, no body damage would occur. 😄
So it doesn't look like you disconnected the sway bar link in your video. Is that because you don't have a sway bar on your rig? Would I need to disconnect the sway bar link to get the axles out?
So helpful, inspirational, and informative.
Nice trail setup Ken. I will take your experience on the trail and add those items to my rig. Thanks!
How does this channel not have more subscribers? Great video! Great to see the Toyotas on the rubicon 👍
@mars7374 thank you!
My stock silverado 1500 did the whole sunrise trail with 33s no scratches or dents. Lol good job keep it up
@@noonanshane yes, most of Elbe is pretty simple, especially in the summer when it's dry. Try Busywild in January! 😃
Nice video. Thanks for sharing the experience. I own the same vehicle. Lots of fun. Why is the coolant temperature so low during the speed test?
