    Wazzup everybody welcome back to the channel, today we are going through the process of overclocking and undervolting the Asus Phoenix RTX 3060 GPU.
    We will be looking first of all at the best possible manual overclock we can reach with this card and then we will try to keep those same frequencies while undervolting the GPU.
    Undervolting is a great way to reduce power, heat, and noise from your system. You can either undervolt at default settings or you can do undervolting with overclocked frequencies which is what we are gonna do today.
    This tutorial will obviously work for any card, even if we are focusing on the 3060 RTX.

    What about you all? do you prefer overclocking, undervolting or both ? Let me know in the comments below, i would also be interested at the max frequencies you guys were able to get with this card.
    P.s. small error in the video: instead of microvolts i obviously meant millivolts
    It is possible to enhance the curve since some games might use the lower part of the curve: so you can give every point to the left of the sweet spot, the same offset (+225 MHz for example)

    Brother, this by far the most straight forward: step-by-step video tutorial that I’ve come across! And its not even a “seperate” video for OC and UV. This was awesome and very informative video! Thank you very much! I will try both method later on my EVGA 3060 XC (12GB).

    How I didn't know this channel earlier?! Subscribed and rang the bell.
    Having stupidly tight budget, I bought this very card because it has the potential to be both an entry level 4k gaming and deep learning card; additionally, it has vram within range of Lovelace leaks, so in case software developers started to cater for next gen gpus, I'll end up with an underperforming rather than an non-performing card.

    Thank you for the video. It was really helpful when I tried to OC & Undervolted my RTX 3060 recently. My Asus Dual RTX 3060 OC wasn't able to produce similar number though. My final but stable settings were : 2062 mhz / 1.031 mV / +1000 (memory clock). This translates to about 5% FPS increase in Warzone 1440p and GPU temp dropped about 3 degrees.

    Thanks mate. I have overclocked my GPU's for a good while now but have always been scared to mess with clock speeds and it just seemed too complicated for me. I got a new PC recently one of those MSI trident compact things and was concerned about overclocking it because of power consumption and the fact it came with a 500W PSU.. lol So I decided to try my hand at undervolting it instead to reduce as much power consumption from my RTX3060 as I could and do a mild overclock at the same time. You're video made it very straight forward. Wasn't intimidating at all.

    Great video and easy to follow. I am using a Zotac 3060 Twin Edge 12GB. Changed to values from stock to 1100MHz Mem, 2070 MHz Core Clock undervolting at 1025 mV. I get no artifact so I think I nailed it. Temps are still same from stock so had to bump the fan speeds by 5.

    • @fgtechtips

  • @lucid227
    @lucid227 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Doesn't starting off with a negative core clock curve and adjusting only until higher voltages leave the card to underclock at lower voltages? Some games don't get up to the higher values and this would only serve to lower their performance.

  • @RS-nq8xk
    @RS-nq8xk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    My HP prebuilt can barely handle 150w or so before going over 75 degrees and/or fans louder than my liking. So I lowered the 3060ti to 1860mhz/0.875v (about this point, didn't stress test but it's conservative so it should be alright) And a 140w power limit. It does about 1800-1845mhz in Forza Horizon 4 1080p upscaled to 1440p with ultra settings, enough for now as I don't play other AAA stuff.
    Edit: And I compared it to a Chinese reviewer's furmark GPU test of laptops, the 140w 60ti does about 1700mhz, while Maxed 3060 laptops do like 1850mhz. As long as it gives equal or more than laptop 3060 performance while being quiet, I am happy with it.

    I'm glad I have the same card so I can see if I've lost or won the silicon lottery.
    Usually I undervolt so I can have a more silent GPU, because mine is always under load with how much I render, unfortunately the ASUS Phoenix somehow manages to always stay at 40-42% fan speed regardless what load it is under, so with 40% being the minimum it can work at, it's already the most silent it can be...

    • @fgtechtips
      @fgtechtips  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I honestly didnt test the lowest rpm speed but I remember in msi afterburner the lowest fan speed was fixed at 40%.
      As i explain in the video I found the best compromise nor in overclocking nor in undervolting but in doing them both at the same time. Now sure if u tried that with your card

    • @dominic.h.3363
      @dominic.h.3363 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fgtechtips Oh I always simultaneously overclock and undervolt, I never just undervolt. You can't go under 40% fan speed with this card, it's hard-coded in the firmware.
      It's very annoying because I can't tell by the noise profile of my PC when it is working and when it has done rendering, and I have no audio cue whatsoever for when the software finished rendering.
      So since I have this video card my noise profile is the same 24/7, but my noise floor went up by 2 decibels.

    • @fgtechtips
      @fgtechtips  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's weird, in my liquid loop my fans stop completely when CPU temp is < 60c and i never hear the GPU noise at lowest speed. It's probably my psu or the pump which is louder and they cover the GPU noise

    • @dominic.h.3363
      @dominic.h.3363 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fgtechtips Yea, it probably is your PSU or pump, because I certainly hear this card even at 40%. Especially because my previous one was semi-passive, didn't turn on below 60 °C.
      Right now my values are:
      Load: 99%
      Core clock: 1905 MHz
      Memory clock: 3650 MHz
      Power: 78.5% TDP
      Temperature: 68 °C
      Fan Speed: 40%
      The fan speed just never changes, and I don't know if I should be amazed by that how ASUS managed to do this with a single fan, or pissed at them why I can't set the fan below 40%, because it unnecessarily makes noise to drop the card to 4-7 degrees above room temperature when it's not being used.

    Hello! excellent video, liked and subbed. I just wanted to ask if it is safe to run my memory clock at +1000mhz 24/7? I have a gigabyte eagle oc v2.0 rtx 3060 and it is stable at +200 core +1000mhz (8500mhz) memory, but I heard these memory chips can get very high temps and it has no memory temp monitoring so i'm worried about running the memory at this frequency. Hey there, little late to the party, but the vid is really great and helped me a lot. I really appreciate it.
    I got only one question, but first some context - I've got EVGA RTX 3060 LHR, currently the voltage is set to 1.025V and the clock speed to +150 (2032Mhz / boosts in-game to 2047Mhz tops), the memory is set to +1000. Max temp was 61.8C and hotspot 74.2C when gaming at 1080p.
    The question is - do you think that undervolting + overclocking could potentially cause a capacitor or something on the card to blow up, or brick it? Or if it all runs fine for hours, then it should be fine going forward?
    Sorry if the question is dumb, still getting into the whole overclocking/undervolting deal.

    • @fgtechtips
      @fgtechtips  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi thanks, can i understand why you think there might be a negative impact to the components of the card by doing undervolting ? It should be the other way around, obviously it will take more time to find a good balance between overclock and stability if you do undervolt vs over volt used in normal overclocks

    I'm undervolting on my 3060 (My twin edge is loud and a bit hot), running it at 900mV@1950MHz, it's not actually different from the stock values, it's just that the voltage is way less than stock.
    What I find interesting about the 3060 is that its modules are "K4ZAF325BM-HC16" (I saw them on a teardown from techpowerup, I can link the review if needed) and they're rated up to 16Gbps, while the card runs at 15Gbps on stock...
    This is something that I didn't really understand from Nvidia.
    I would like to OC the memory modules (atleast to get 16Gbps) but I'm a bit scared about temps, I have no sensors on the GDDR6 memory for the 3060 so I have no idea if my Twin Edge is actually dissipating enough the chips

      Yes that's the correct memory model also confirmed here
      www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/asus-geforce-rtx-3060-strix-gaming-oc-review,4.html
      Overclocking the ram wouldn't be an issue as the heatsinks have thermal pads on that area and you would be able to identity if they overheat during overclocking by looking at graphic artifacts
