@@bonnie-and-chicanfortunately not all birds talk, including large parrots & greys. Quaker parrots are the best talkers & imitators in the small bird or parrots, however, IRN’s are more popular of a pet due to their cuteness. Hamlet is a good talker for an IRN, as is Tamara’s chicken, with Bloob being very social & talkative as well. I’ve known Greys that have never spoke a word, where B&G’s don’t stop talking. It all depends on the individual parrot or birdie & the environment they are subjected to. They do have voice boxes that can go into the largest of birds cages to assist in helping them repeat a phrase & can be changed when they learn it. A television or radio played during the time that humans aren’t around also can help stimulate a bird beginning to speak & continuing to speak.
I read once that in the wild, parrots have been shown enjoying showing off and teaching each other new noises they’ve heard or made up. So amazing to see Gizmo and Bloob being able to experience that natural behaviour in captivity ❤
Yes, and Gizmo has already learned to say tickle tickle just like Bloob! It is fascinating 🥰

Yes language actually comes fairly natural to most parrots. In the wild the even assign specific calls to specific members of the flock like names, and have a variety of calls with different meanings.
My parrot doesn't talk often, but after years of learning her sounds and body language, I can usually pretty easily decipher what she want or is trying to communicate. She probably understands me better than I understand her though. It's almost creepy lol.
There is a spiece on this planet that is way more advanced in those things than parrots

The other day I ran across a video where they did a study during quarantine which wanted to see if given a tablet, their own FaceTime app and a choice, would birds choose to talk to other birds. They found they would choose to talk to the same birds over and over, forming relationships, and though the study has ended they’re still calling one another today. I also thought it was very sweet Giz told Bloop “I love you”. For having all of those homes, he’s amazingly healthy, both physically and mentally!
Yes, that was a fantastic study!! Gizmo and Bloob love chatting it up together. We are so happy they seem to get on.
Fascinating I didn’t know about that study but I can tell you I have 2 animals that when gizmo comes on they will stay glued too the tablet or big screen lol but they’re French bulldogs that think they are birds lol 😆

I had a Senegal and miss him so much! People have no idea how intelligent and interactive parrots are as pets. The flip side is that folks dont have any clue how much work it is because they are so intelligent and need that interaction. I love how you showcase Gizmo being out of his cage and participating in family life. Is he potty trained? Watching these videos makes me want another parrot but I'm getting too old!

He seems to really like the little fellow. Perhaps the baby voice brings out Gizmo's paternal side. Gizmo obviously has a very big heart--full of joy and love. Birds often don't get along, but I think these two boys will become good friends. You got lucky on that!

the way he actually strings words and sentences together is insane to me. He's a smart little bastard. a lot of them don't make much sense but he's so friggen intelligent it's crazy.

I find it fascinating how obviously they understand the language and Gizmo can correctly identify so many things and use the words correctly And yet when alone it's just a random jumbled-up Babble basically of different phrases and sounds. And there doesn't seem to be communication back and forth between them at least not in English. They're just fascinating creatures! And thank you for sharing them with us❤

I love watching birds talk to themselves. It really shows what kind of contextual grasp they have of what they’re saying.
I befriended a cockatoo who spoke phrases in perfect context. Birds are amazing. I wish I had realized that earlier in life.
