One year Gizmo enjoys every moment free from his cage, and has flourished into a beautiful, healthy, thriving happy boy.
After 16 years in captivity, Gizmo's wings may be weakened, but his determination to live a life of freedom remains unwavering. Despite the challenges Giz walks with hope and savors the simple joys of the love of our family. A reminder that true freedom lies within, no matter the circumstances.

I love watching this video. I rescued my grey when he was 5 years old in terrible condition and had very few feathers. With lots of love and attention and correct feeding he blossomed and became a very loving pet, fully interactive and spoke just like Gizmo. After a very short illness he died in December 2022 aged 32 years. We had him for 28 years and was the most loved member of the family. We miss him dearly and watching Gizmo reminds me of my beloved Teddy. TI wish you years of joy with him. Thank you. Margaret xx

It’s amazing he didn’t pluck out all of his feathers from stress/depression. He sure is a resilient little guy.
ESPECIALLY as an African grey. They are smarter than the average parrot and ABSOLUTELY understand their situation. Very lucky birdy
That's the first thing I've noticed - I would say him getting acquainted with a new home was also quick too; I think he never was fully ignored but they were also dealing with so many other birds. My grey was content when she was around me regardless of interaction.

I think Gizmo may have a gift of resilience.
@johncheetham4607 there's no need to feel sorry for him now. He's in a home with people who love him and has been for a year now. After being in captivity and in a cage for 16 years, it's highly unlikely he would survive in the wild. At least here, he gets out of his cage and has love. Look at the difference in his plumage.
I just love Gizmo!! You are all so very blessed to have each other!! My LadyBird aka Hallie Ariel passed last March and I so miss her. She was amazing and taught me many beautiful lessons!! Wherever she is now I know she is soaring!! 🕊♥

That bird has an interesting vocabulary. Makes me think he listened to a lot of random conversations, loudspeaker announcements, and television programs over the years and just strings it all together.

Thank God you rescued the poor bird,at least it will have a happy life now. I rescue quite a few animals and because of the way they were treated I ended up spending thousands getting these animals right.
How terrible it must be for an intelligent creature to be put alone in a cage and not be fed mentally and socially.😢

I can't believe what a vocabulary he already came with..such a smart boy. He obviously was around people that tried to teach him but why kept always in his cage? So happy he found his way to you. Birds are actually advanced spiritual teachers, in my opinion. My quaker parrot sure is!

african greys and just parrots in general are so sensitive to abuse and im so happy gizmo got a second chance at life. 😢

African Greys enjoy a long live span (about 60 years) in "captivity." We'll have Giz with us for a long time!!!!!!!

I’m just catching up on his story after seeing he had been at the vet. I’m glad he is getting better. Has he ever seen his videos? Maybe that would open him up to starting to talk a bit. Fingers crossed!!

When you released a video about sudden passing of your mum, there was clear that he felt your emotions, he really knew what happened. This is an evidence that animals feel emotions and they just know, like us. We all are connected. Without a doubt, Gizmo has been sent to you by the Universe on the right time.

Aww I am so glad he's with owners who have more time to interact with him, toys, and room to play. It breaks my heart to know there are animals out there just not getting the love they deserve or worse yet getting sadly neglected.

Giz has made such great strides with his new family. I love the bond he has with Emily. My Jengo is 22 and has always been with us. We are in the process of building better communication now that we know more about how birds think. I am just amazed at how smart they are. ❤

So many different voices he learned! He does love you and he does seem to be able to fly, if maybe a short distance?! Or more.
Giz brings me to tears. These birds are so magical and we are blessed to have dominion over these birds. I would never buy an African Grey. I promised my mother in law if she passed i would take care of our Joey. He has taught me more about actual animal understanding than any other creature. I bought my CAG from a local newspaper ad (breeder's helper)19 years ago for $750. Absolutely no regrets. I know the importance of adopting, but that particular breed wasn't available in my area. He was a birthday present for my husband. We raised him from a weaned baby.

This is why I can't work for animal rescue. I'd give the human NO LESS than what they've done to an animal. If that means keep the human in a cage for 16yrs, then u best believe I'll put them in the cage for 16yrs. P.o.s. humans

My two conures sleep under the sofa and the grey has the conservatory and an outdoor enclosure attached. I could never keep my bird friends caged.
