@@Maggieroselee Hi Maggie! For some reason I am unable to locate your comment regarding Parrot breeding but I am able to read it in my email notifications. Happy to answer here. First and foremost, these two are my pets. If they choose not to breed after the 4-7 years it takes them to mature, they are still a dream come true. That said, the answer to your question greatly depends on who you ask but my approach is centered around the preservation of the African Grey Parrot in the USA. The majority of parrot breeders handfeed (imprint) their babies as they are more than likely destined to be pets. Due to this focus across American Aviculture, we are now seeing that a large percentage of male African Greys that were handfed imprinted pets are not competent at mating. This will eventually cause these birds to disappear from US aviculture as many breeders are still working with wild caught birds which are/will be approaching retirement age in the next 5 years. My approach to breeding will be similar to many breeders in Europe. I plan to allow them to raise their babies until weaning to ensure that these birds know they are birds and are not excessively imprinted on people. One thing I frequently see that I disagree with is a comparison of the overpopulation issue with dogs and cats to parrots. Since the WBCA was passed in 1992, the population of parrots in the USA has been trending down, not up. There is no shelter or rescue on this planet that is euthanizing parrots weekly. As we know, this is something dog and cat shelters do due to actual overpopulation. We started with over 280 species of parrots in US captivity and we now have under 35. Thank you for the question! Im not sure why I couldn't locate your previous comment but I am glad I found you here!
Years ago. my step sister had a Cockatoo named Saul. Her family just kept Saul on a cage and her kids used to either ignore or annoy him. He started yanking out his feathers. When I visited her, Saul loved me. I would take him out of his cage and he would either lie on his back cradled in my arms while I rubbed his belly or stuck himself in my armpit while I petted his back. My sister and I had an issue and she wouldn't sell Saul to me and sold him to another family member. They said he was the most affectional guy and loved their whole family. When I visited them, Saul looked like a total different bird. All it takes is love to keep a bird happy.

The African Greys are my favorite. I hand raised (syringe feedings to weaning) a beautiful Grey. I always wanted another one. Awesome birds.
That’s beautiful. I have one after my family had one for 50 years. They are great birds and we humans must protect them because their wild habitat is getting smaller. The girls and boys act a little differently.
Wow, so lucky I found your channel and get to be on this journey from the beginning. I can see your passion for birds, thanks for sharing it with the world 🐦
Congrats on your 2 gorgeous babies. I hope they are doing well,it's a couple months since you put this video out.I read somewhere that someone doing a study on parrot communication in nature recorded parrots and realized while listening to the recording that they were singing or communicating using notes from Bach. No known human interaction ever. I found this fascinating. As a chronic illnesses patient animals is one of my escape places. I love the larger bird breeds especially though in real life Im very afraid of them.
I had an African Gray & a male Eclectus. Of the two, my gray was a better pet, plus I raised him from a baby with no feathers. The Eclectus tried to dominate me when he was 3 yo and bit my bottom lip nearly off. However, my gray was wonderful. That was 30 years ago and I’ll always remember them with love.
@@Africangreyjournal Your channel just popped up on my feed as soon as I opened TH-cam. I’m glad it did. I just became a subscriber. 😊 I don’t own a bird but love watching bird videos. Especially African Greys and Amazons. They are so smart.

This store is the best store i have seen so far. They do have a lot of babies in stock too. One thing i would like to mention these are not a toy and some can live up to 80 years. Thank you sir for show us around the store. You pick the right breed. Grey are better than amazon. Because amazon are little nippy especially breeding season. I have always wanted a parrot or similar bird but life got in the way and I was never able to have one, or two, lol. I know they require interaction and time and I just didn't have the time to give them, so I never got one. Now I'm a little too old, especially when you consider how long most of these birds can live, it wouldn't be fair to the birds. I just found your channel and since you are going to be producing videos with the progression of these young birds, I have liked and subscribed and am looking forward to following your journey, and the birds' journey. I guess I'll be living vicariously through you all for this one, lol. Congratulations on your new additions and as I follow this journey, I wish you the very best of luck. Best wishes.

Macaw dont wanna step up, macaw don haf to step up. Yes, thats a Greenwing. Well done tour. This store commits to a HUGE amount of work raising all those babies. Nice clean cages, with toys, high quality weaning food. But, whats their plan for socialising these birds. Excellent store, from 34 years parrot keeper. Have had 12 beautiful birds over that time.
Agreed! All human interaction is on the birds terms. Im glad you enjoyed the tour! They have a fantastic team there. From what I understand, they take time out before and after store hours for socialization and they also allow perspective buyers to interact with them.
So happy I found your channel. AGs are my favorite birds. I have a 2 year old who definitely has his own strong personality. Hates being handled but loves to chatter and carry on conversations with himself if he thinks I'm not paying attention.

Wow, that's amazing!! Major Mitchells are such lovely birds. Thank you for sharing.
That’s beautiful. I have one after my family had one for 50 years. They are great birds and we humans must protect them because their wild habitat is getting smaller. The girls and boys act a little differently.
Wow, so lucky I found your channel and get to be on this journey from the beginning.
I can see your passion for birds, thanks for sharing it with the world 🐦
Thank you so much for your kind words. It really means a lot to me. I'll be sure to keep the videos coming!
So happy to see a bh pionus. I got my bh as a baby and she is 4y old now. She is just an amazing bird.
They are such lovely birds! What is her favorite food?
Beautiful beautiful birds and great store set up. Ohio has a couple bird specialty stores
That's awesome. I may have to take a trip to Ohio to check them out!
Thank you so much, Samantha! They are doing fantastic. They teach me something new every day. Such intelligent beings!
Aussie watcher here, and just subbed to your channel. Will be following your content with great interest 😄
Thank you for your support! I look forward to visiting Australia one day. It has always been a dream of mine.
Love all the information. Great video!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it 🦜
@@Africangreyjournalbro how much you pay for two
I’m looking forward to more videos of you and the birds. ❤️🙏
I really appreciate your support! Our next video is in the works!
Love your video. You know your birds. Looking forward to the journey with the AG's.
❤🦜❤
Thank you so much, David! I really appreciate your support.
I had an African Gray & a male Eclectus. Of the two, my gray was a better pet, plus I raised him from a baby with no feathers. The Eclectus tried to dominate me when he was 3 yo and bit my bottom lip nearly off. However, my gray was wonderful. That was 30 years ago and I’ll always remember them with love.
that was a fun tour
Thank you so much! Im glad you enjoyed!
Lucky you
Enjoy them
Thank you very much!
I love birds, all these birds love God I know that truly
Agreed!!
Damn dude such informative videos and yet you are so underrated, you deserve more subs!

@@Africangreyjournal Your channel just popped up on my feed as soon as I opened TH-cam. I’m glad it did. I just became a subscriber. 😊 I don’t own a bird but love watching bird videos. Especially African Greys and Amazons. They are so smart.
@@kthom4595 Wow, thank you so much! Im so glad you enjoyed the video. I have alot more content on the way. I appreciate the support!

That's awesome! So glad to hear she is doing well.
Fantastic video! Keep it up 👍
Thank you so much!! I'll be sure to keep the videos coming.
I sent you video over to Apollo and Frens so they could see you talk about the bird store. I’m interested in watching how two greys live together. This will be interesting and you will be busy but am excited for you!
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate it.
Love that store and Chris is the best
Absolutely! Chris is such a great guy.
2 of them!? Woohoo!! Labor of love!! 🙏🏼✌🏻😇😇💕🥳congrats!!!! 🎉
Thank you so much!!!
I do have 6 yellow nape. they are all 23+ since 3 months old. Sometime they still do damaged my skin too .🤣.
Thank you so much for the feedback! Im glad you enjoyed the tour. I agree that Parrots are not toys 😂, Ive been working with them for half of my life!
Great to hear about your flock. What are you currently feeding them?
he is talking to you thats so beautiful
Thank you!!
That’s a good store, just subscribed.. I’ve got an Orange Winged Amazon named Charlie he’s super cool 😂😂
Thank you for your support!! I love Orange wings! So much personality.
Birds are so awesome me
and my family have a few . Blessings from NYC🙏🏾
Nice! Thank you so much 🦜
I live in Australia I hear kookaburras quite often , there amazing ❤love all the birdies ❤also see a lot of pink and greys and those white cockatoos a lot :)
Wow, that is amazing! I hope to visit Australia one day.
I love your birds African grays have always been one of my favorites although I’ve never really owned a parrot just enjoyed friends birds and I thought I should start with something smaller like the sun conure.
Thank you so much! I agree, birds like Green cheek conures, Cockatiels and Budgies are great species to start with as they are not as demanding or high strung as larger species.
I took care of an African Gray once, cool time, bird went on my hand and shoulder, you get one of these parrots it’s a life long deal. I also have three cats
I totally agree!! Huge commitment.
Cool vid
Thank you! Alot more content on the way.
I'm from UK awaiting my first parrot arriving 6am my god love your manner
Wow, congrats! What kind of parrot are you picking up?
lol the pause after the voice crack on 14:25 😂
Didn't know I was capable of such a high pitch sound 😂
@@Africangreyjournal but I have been. Looking into the other vids about the birds and I couldn't help but hear how well spoken you are, you got a new subscriber
@@1Eternal_Tempest I really appreciate that! Thanks for the support. If there are any specific topics you'd like me to cover, please let me know.
@@Africangreyjournal well I would really like to see more handling videos with your parrots like hand feedings or more physical contact between you and your parrots
@@1Eternal_Tempest Thank you very much!
Keep on posting, good work...
I really appreciate that. Thank you very much!
8:21 are Caique - pronounced: Kai-keh. Great birds and yes, can be a handful!
Thank you!
Such a good video my friend ! Thank you for showing all the beautiful Australian birds, I’m sure you would enjoy a holiday here brother
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. I can't wait to visit one day.
11:14 thats a scarlet macaw, only they have yellow on their wings, unlike the greenwing. Greenwings are only red, blue and green👍
Thanks!
Green wing have cheek hairs or patches, scarlet cheeks are bald. Scarlet from Bolivia are predominantly yellow wings. The scarlet from Central ameria have less yellow in there wings.@@Africangreyjournal
Thank you so much for your support!! It's clear that you have a deep love for birds so I'm glad that our channel can bring a piece of the parrot experience to you. I'll be sure to keep the videos flowing! My goal is to produce one every week.
As an Aussie I can't believe there's a kookaburra there.
Heartbreaking isn't it? I feel for the poor things. They definitely aren't pets.
Wow my favorite place.. ❤❤❤
Such a fantastic store!
Wow the prices for those Birb! Jaw hits the ground.
The market has went crazy lol
Anhhh I need to go here!!!! Heaven!!
Such a great store!
You've just got yourself a new subscriber. Great video!
Thank you so much!! 🙌
I got my red belly there! It's a great store!
That's awesome!!
Great video man your inspiring me to make more bird videos TH-cam could be hard and dis motivating sometimes
Thank you so much! I totally understand. I'll be your newest subscriber. Im looking forward to your next Parrot video 💪
@@AfricangreyjournalI appreciate it
So happy I found your channel. AGs are my favorite birds. I have a 2 year old who definitely has his own strong personality. Hates being handled but loves to chatter and carry on conversations with himself if he thinks I'm not paying attention.
Thank you for the support! Im so glad you are enjoying the channel. Your Grey sounds like an awesome bird. I love the fact that you allow him to be himself and keep interaction on his terms. He must be very happy with you.
