This comedian parrot has never heard of a "tough crowd". Like many other parrots, Gizmo loves talking. However, with him, it's a bit special. He turns everyday phrases into jokes with a bit of luck and great comedic timing. It especially warms the hearts of his owners because they know Gizmo had a rough past. He spent 16 years caged up, but look at him shine!

We rescued a Congo African Grey named Bella in 2016. She was less than a year old and already a plucker. She has a huge vocabulary and makes us laugh most every day.

Before I rescued my girl she sat in a 2’x2’ cage most of her 22 years. No toys, cheap seed parrot mix. I first bought her a large cage with play top, gave her everything she needed and just let her do things on her own. 2 years later and I can pet, she’ll step up, ride my shoulder etc. She doesn’t talk as much as Gizmo but she she loves opera does talk some. I’m so glad to know you two now have Gizmo. He’s a special bird for sure. Thank you for sharing. 😊
My friends rescued parrot will scream at the top of her lungs none-stop. Especially if someone leaves the room or she thinks someone is leaving the room .She has fallen in love with my husband and demands his attention at all times, and ignores everyone else, when we are visiting.

@@religion-free if not, it must be! I don't know where you're from, but if you're from the U.S., check you state rules.
Might also have to play it diplomatically and tell perhaps how you saw a bird in a much bigger cage, but also able to roam around and that the bird was much better as well.
I know it's not easy to tell someone you know that you don't agree with them, be it a family member or a neighbour... It's tricky.
You both know exactly what you have to do with parrots, in general. Giving him time, letting him adjust to his surroundings and his new life, you let him be who he is. It's amazing how calm and sweet he is. Parrots are a decades long commitment. I'm confident, you three will have a long wonderful life together because you respect his boundaries.
Thank you for knowing that birds, too, have a soul. WIthout that understanding, IMO, no healing can take place. Animals ARE people too. Down to insects and arthropods I am finding--they each have their own little personality, moods, thoughts, scars, goals: SOUL!
All animals are a soul and we refuse to believe those who think they don’t. We hope our videos can convince those people ♥️

Awww So happy for Gizmo and family. I knew a Grey once named Murray, my first experience with a talking bird! I startled her once by mistake, and I said, "I'm sorry, Murray," and she said, "It's OK, bird!"

Gizmo has mastered the English language like no other bird I’ve ever heard. He doesn’t just mimic, he speaks complete sentences and questions. Perhaps during all those years trapped in the little cage he was definitely listening. Luv ya Giz.💖

All birdies deserve love, they feel and understand so much more than we give them credit for, even the “cheap” ones that can’t speak. They deserve so much more than to be treated like an ornament / fun toy that you just put in a small cage and then get bored of and neglect after the novelty has worn off.

Giz is a superstar! Hope he gets his wings soon! I wish people took the time to learn about these birds and what they need, ideally to be free. But if not and they need some help, know your breed and know how long some of these birds can live. Be prepared!
For sure - they need the right care and you need to do your research before owning a bird like Gizmo ❤️
Anytime someone would ask about my parrot, Electra, they’d want to know about having one. First words out of my mouth, “they need 80% fruit and veggies not seed, a larger cage than you think, tons of toys for stimulation, the cage needs daily cleanup and they need daily interactions with the entire family.” They realized the upkeep was more than they could handle.

Gizmo reminds me of my old friend Emerson. My friends have raised an African Gray and nurtured him, going on 35 years now. Emerson has an amazing vocabulary of words and sounds: simple greetings, whole sentences, noises made by microwaves, phones, squeaky doors, doorbells, sirens, faucets, toilets . . . and every morning when he first "wakes up" Emerson practices his entire vocabulary, going on for ten, twenty, thirty minutes, just a raucous, joyful noise. There's no need for an alarm clock at their house! (besides, if they had an alarm clock, Emerson would learn the sound and they would hear the alarm randomly throughout the day anyhow, just the way they hear the microwave, or the phone, or the toilet!
I hope Gizmo keeps up his joyful noise for decades to come!

Indeed extraordinary, heartwarming & amazing when from what little I understand about Parrots that talk. They supposedly learn most of all their words in the first few years. Gizmo seems to really hold some conversation as well as quite the sense of humor. How beautiful & fun for them all! Well done and well being!
