- Life is far too short not to race.
The first 5k of many shorter distance races coming up for me.
Competition brings out the best in me/us.
Always hurts.
ALWAYS worth it!
Hope you get a good feel for what went through my mind
Enjoy!

Onwards and Upwards,
Nick
Nick, I want to honestly thank you from the bottom of my heart. You kind of changed my mental health, as well as physical health.
I ended up stumbling into your shorts/vids & you managed to entertain me enough so that I'd stick around and watch every video you post. I started running, got myself a pair of Brooks Ghost Max, and I'm currently running 5km at 4:30/km (so 22:46 or something). I came from vaping a shitload everyday, feeling slow, tired, fatigued. You showed me it was possible, so I started training. First 2 months was pure zone 2 (mafetone) training. After that I felt comfortable with speed work, and my goal right now is sub 20 5k's, as well as a marathon!
Thank you so much! Lets get better, faster, together!
Wow this is incredible to hear and thank so much for sharing!
Makes doing what I do, 1,000% worth it. Let me know when you smash that sub 20 barrier 🫶🏻 together we grow!
👏🙌
90% in zone 5 is next level and shows just hard you're working. The mental fortitude you need to hold that is incredible. Top performance Nick💪
It doesn’t get easier that’s for sure!! But hey it’s always worth it!!! 😵💫🙌🏻
God I love your 5k commentary videos. That was awesome and so inspiring. The thing I love about 5k distance is your race at 3 min km is exactly the same as my race at 6 min km. Hard all the way and building to max effort and pain in the final km. And everyone finds a group of runners to settle in with and push each other.
You can tell Nick is elite because his pace looks flawless and easy for him. He never looks like he’s struggling. Honestly his form at this pace looks like my slow jog form.
Congrats with a sub 15!!! Unreal footage. These are absolute favourites of mine! Yesterday I did a 19:15 5k which took ages to achieve. I go through very simmilar thoughts and the execution yet there is always more to learn. Thanks Nick for being the best ! :D also that guy in 1st place ran the race solo in such a surreal speed. Kudos to him. Mind bending stuff.
Nick as a recent runner and yrying to go under 20min 5k I can say your 5km run vids are best.
Its being on the edge of my seat holding my breath while watching you run.
Great work and your running form is soooo good 👍
Well done
Wow. I enjoyed that. You looked so relaxed (I know you probably weren't) But then seeing the result, I thought you were leading but the winner to run that time. Hats off to the Dulwich guy too, hung on to get a good time too. Thanks for sharing
Incredible race... Digging so deep!! I swear I get so fired up watching your race videos! There is no feeling in this world that matches a full send, can't wait for my next one!
Well done Nick. I love the effort you put in and can relate.
At 51 I'm aiming for a sub 20. Just over a year ago I did my first in 37 minutes.
Now sitting at 20:45 with some serious work behind me and ahead , you show the level of determination needed
Absolutely love this style of video, seeing you guys at the top end of the sport battling it out. Boomshakalaka
Great job Nick and Amie.
Love it. Trying to string 5 x 1k at 4 min k pace is a test for me!!
Great run Nick. It is pure enjoyment to watch to run with on screen display elements and narrative. Thanks.
Nick ran crazy fast, but it was as if the winner finished before Nick even started 💀. That's how insanely quick he was
Seyfu was soooo fast! 14:12 he finished it. As a solo time trial basically. It was an honour and privilege watching him disappear into the distance
My huge respect for your fitness, mindset, and patience!
Love this style of video. It's how I found your channel a while back. Having real time pace, heart rate and distance is a really nice addition. Great performance too!
How wonderfull running Nick and I just get started running and right now I run by maf-metode and its going well I think and got me a proffesional coach who really learn me lots of tecnik in running so I get less injured and get more speed in my feet. But thanks for the incredible video and you are a great and much a clever running mann I think. Inga DK.
love these voice over race vods.. keep them comin
So good to watch Nick 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽. Loved your strength mentally and physically to get that sub 15!! Well done sir 💪🏽🙌🏽💯
Awesome run Nick. So impressive how you push that hard for so long. Giving it a full send this Saturday on my 100th parkrun and targeting my first ever sub 17. This was just the inspiration I needed! Wish me luck!
Niiiice 🙌🏻 good luck! Go get it and let me know how you get along
Pushed harder than ever and broke 17 with a 16.55!! A huge boomshakalaka moment for me!
My number one running tip is watching your videos Nick. Knocked around 3 mins off my PB over the last 6 months since I started watching and then putting together a proper training plan. The results have been crazy!
Congrats on the great effort. And thank you very much for the interesting commentary over the course.
Maybe one point about the picture quality, I watched the video on big TV screen and your legs (running your crazy pace) looks little bit choppy. Not sure what exact camera was used, but recording and exporting in 50fps or 60fps would make a trick. Or at least make sure you export video in same fps rate as it was recorded so no conversion takes place.
But anyway great content, keep postings more.
Caught this video this afternoon before my run - must've caught the Bester bug because I ran a 25:23 5K PB, almost 2 minutes quicker than my previous best time! Legend! 🙌🏻
Boom Shakalaka 🙌🏻
Thank you sharing. That was POV experience I didn't expect. I felt my heart beat every second. You inspired me to keep on running and training.
👏👏👏 Let's go
Nice performance Nick, racing is an art!
Thanks for such a great video, Nick and Aimee! Enjoyed every second of it and inspired by it
VERY cool to be able to witness this. Thanks for sharing Nick!
Great effort Nick, well done ! 👍
My resting hr is in the 45 ish every once in a while it drops into the the low 30, i wasn't sure if that was normal for a long distance runner.
as a first time viewer to your channel, this is inspirational :)
Welcome aboard!
great stuff Nick!
Wow such a grind, well done Nick to put in such an effort 👏💪
A Big BOOM SHAKALAKA Nick! 👊🏻💯! Great Job! Great Video! Love watching these! So inspiring!
Great video. Amazing to see heart rate, pace, etc throughout all of run!
I love this kind of videos
Great race Nick!
I did a half at the weekend and nailed a very nonchalant 3 pointer at the last water station. Thought of yours straight away! Boom!
Haha epic 🏀 wish I could have seen it on camera #Satisfying
Amazing! Well done!
Superb 5k effort, as always Nick! =D
5ks are so brutal, whenever I'm hurting bad I always try to slow the moment down in my head and see if I can smile through the pain. I don't know why I do it but watching this made me think of it 😂
bro your stride is so strong and smooth, seems like u improved ur running style alot !
Thanks I’ve been working hard on it. Still a lot to improve on though (which is a good thing). 🙌🏻
truly an inspiration for us tall runners nick!
Not all about having the longest legs eeeey ;)
Love to watch your races! Greetings from Brasil!
Came here for some inspiration while on the injury bench. Thanks for the great video and inspiration. BOOMSHAKALAKA!
What an amazing running video‼
Booooom Shakalaka👊
This is what it's all about 💪
Let’s goooo 💪🏻 competitive side coming out!
Well done. Such a fast race.
You make running so easy amazing times
I've watched the other race video like 20 times and when he said 'Sayfurgermal is racing' my heart dropped
🤣🤣 glad you could see just how next level he is!! Morgan is racing in the next one 👀
That was so exciting to watch, I started sweating here on the edge of my seat... Amazing effort!
Looking forward
looking forward to watching this love the content!
Hope you get a good feel for exactly what it was like for me out there 💥
Great effort!
Good stuff Nick! A sub 15 5k is seriously impressive. That's my biggest goal for a 5k in the future.
It’s a tough one that’s for sure. But I back you!! Let me know once you get there 🎯 🙌🏻
Wow . What a finish
It's always fascinating looking at the heart rates. I'm at 180 doing a 5 min km. Soooo many levels to this running game.
hi nick how do you put the pace on the screen what editing program do you use i love the new look on videos
Through the Garmin VIRB editing app 👌🏻
@@justalilbester thankyou
Epic! Watched the entire video. Very inspirational ...
Awesome work
Love these full send videos 💪
Great stuff Nick, what shoes are they?
Top work, Nick
Glad you enjoyed it
Hey Nick great race! I’ve raced at Battersea a couple times and occasionally my watch doesn’t sink with the course markers.
On a 10k I noticed the 9k mark consistently was out 160m, so I think they put it wrong on the course.
If your watch splits 5-10s before the marking on course, which one do you trust??
In this video it looks like the 1km mark you went off your watch as opposed to the course markings. Love the vids!!!!!!
Glad you loved the video. I must say when my watch beeped it was fairly close to the markers. So it lined up quite nicely (even if the metrics on screen were a tiny bit out).
Brilliant!
Awesome work, Nick! Are you focusing on your 5K time going forward or are you set on any longer distances races?
Yes over the shorter term (next 6 week). Then my Berlin marathon training will kick in.
@@justalilbester nice one 👌🏼- any parkruns that you anticipate on attending soon? Would love to come along to Winchester when you next attend 😁
these race videos are epic
Loads coming up! 🎯 🤞🏻
Will be interesting to see how the Evo's do....even just a few seconds at 5k, will translate to curb stomping that sub 2:20hr monkey off your back this fall!
At Berlin this year we get that monkey off my back 🐵 🤞🏻
When you run and start to struggle, what aspect of tiredness do you feel? Tired legs? Short of breath? Usually when I race, my legs start to tire out long before my breath. Any tips for this?
I hope Ed got his gloves back 8:02
Well spotted 👀 didn’t even notice
Amie is the BEST liar ever!!... 😂Brilliant run Nick....🏃🏻♂️👍🏻... Im volunteering at the Glasgow men & women's 10k this Sunday and il be making sure I shout boommmsshhhaakkkalaka a gazillion times!!!.. 🥳🥳.. #letsgo!!!. 🎉🎉🎉x
Incredible to watch and well done.. 👍 Here’s me thinking I’ve done well running 24.54 5k PB. 😂
Beautiful! Sub 25 is solid and we’re probably working just as hard 🙌🏻
Let's all have a 'BOOMSHAKALAKA'!!!!!
Booooom Shakalaka 💥
Way to go, guy in first was cooking with a 14:12!
Run machine 🔥
Inspiring!
Great video!
Can’t wait.
There me beating my time and coming in, 23 mins. Your Still 8 mins quicker. Well done . Does it hurt us all the same?
Hurts just as much, if not more 😵💫 but congrats on the 23 and always try be the best YOU 🙌🏻
i thought u are at the front,'i was surprise there is one guy who just disappear? whn u reach at the finish line? 😱😂
He is proper pro! From half way I couldn’t even see him 😵💫🚀
I don't think I could run a km in 3 mins if I tried let alone hold it all the way. I'm more 5 min per km guy but I can't hold that pace. Well done. 🎉
At 15:50 - the results. Is the last column the age? If yes, that's absolut wild from Ms. Gaunt with an 16:46 😲
Top class 🫡👊🏻
Hi Nick! How did you apply that overlay?
Garmin Virb editing app. It’s a great feature
@@justalilbester Thanks! :)
Congratulations, great running. To the 2nd place woman age 45 as well 🎉
Well spotted and indeed epic result 👏🏻
Question, do you only breath through your nose when running?
I wish 🤣 I try too but when the HR goes up then I can’t sustain it and breathe through my mouth
do you use, auto lap in a shorter race like this? I had it turned off for a recent 5km and felt like the splits could have better informed my race
Adios Pro or Takumi are the shoes?
Woww another amazing run ! It looks like Amy saved the day with that lie ..
Amy: he is coming ! And you ran like usain bolt for next 100M 🤣🤣
🔥🔥🔥🔥
🤣🤣🤣 hey that lie got me moving properly again! I really did think he might be making a come back!
Love ittttt❤
In 2 weeks we go again but with the Pro Evo’s next time 👀 🔥
@@justalilbester can’t wait for the speed 💨
❤❤❤❤❤❤
that was epicccccc
Still can't believe that bike incident. It was a dog last time. Is this a parkrun or an organised race?
Just gotta be cautious. It’s an organised race but they don’t close the park off
@@justalilbester Fair enough, but placing a marshal at potential 'collision points' might be prudent.
mad respect to the 2nd place woman who is 45 years old, truly inspiring
Why don't you run in lighter shoes like metaspeed sky paris oder edge?
I’m supported by adidas, so will only run in their shoes. But I must say the Pro 3s work like a charm for me. Even for shorter distances.
The first 1km certainly isn’t a warm up 😂 hell for leather the whole way
boom shakalaka!!
😍😍😍🤣🤣🤣 exciting stuff ❤❤❤❤❤
👏
Well done Nick! Man shame on that race volunteer for not managing his post. Someone could have gotten seriously injured.
BMI of 22? That surprises me
🏎💨💨💨
Nick, do you not find it hard to get motivated to race around Battersea Park after you have run a "gazillion" laps of it?
Not really. I’ve never had an issue with that. I switch the brain off from laps (often run to a workout). And then get lost in my own world.
W
shoutout to the camera woman
