People with strollers is one of those things that you're not really allowed to moan about but, at the same time, you really want to moan about. Just go a few rows back.
You did really, really well. Particularly with going around a few hundred people. I am thinking with that effort if you were on a track, maybe 14:10 or under? Well done. Kudos to Allie for filming while on a bike.
Glad you finally had a decent race, congrats. Seriously, please do more of these types of runs (without a costume). Folks like to watch serious efforts especially if they have been watching you throughout your training.
Dang if you keep up the training you have been doing and don't start to overtrain you are going to be the fastest you have ever been. I think you are making it past the hump and found your way of training. This should show you that you are not close to done, five k pr already too. So entertaining to watch the progress
Nice race, Spence, and I am glad you were happy with the effort. Motivation is huge, as is staying healthy injury free. Hopefully, you can stay healthy, in which case I see a good year ahead in 2024 in the mile/5k. I'd also love to see you do a 3k and maybe try to get under 7:50. Oh, and shout out to Allie for enduring all the people to get good film footage. I hope she's healthy and training well too.
First of all, shoutout to Allie! Great commentary as always! Second, way to show out, Spence! The time is great but beating out a majority of the other competition… that’s a MAJOR bonus 👏
Insane pace despite the zigzagging! That comment about running with a person and sticking with them is so accurate. I was going for a sub 1h20 on a half this fall and was on pace through 10k, but then a guy surged to pass me and I let it break me instead of matching his move, wound up running a 1h21
Busted my knee about 4 weeks ago after runnjng a season opener 😭 trying to sort it out before season starts. It sucks tho bc I got a groove going and then that happens
Man, you definitely should feel good about this. I hope and pray you stay injury free, because if you do, I think you'll have an outstanding 2024. At the least, you'll probably break 4:00 and 14:00.
Spencer, I know you are missing the team environment aspect of running. I think you deserve a brooks beast contract after beating a couple of the brooks beasts. You deserve it after grinding out 2+ years of solo training. Even if it’s not them I want to see you training with professionals.
I think you may have suprised yourself, with respect to evidence of your level of fitness. Running with someone with similar fitness - was helpful, as was your mindset of hanging on. Your pace was fairly even (second mile could have been a bit faster) - so, you have pretty good strength and the last part - showed that even though you were 'hurting', you had an excellent kick. That shows you had quite a bit left - and could have possibly tapped into that energy and distributed it through the race. I think with longer races like this - to really drop that time down 30 to 45 seconds or so (which this race shows that you are capable of) will involve you learning how to 'suffer'. You were hurting (but did not give into your body telling you to slow down to maintain better comfort). You probably demonstrated something that I have not seen before in all the time watching your channel - you kept pushing throughout the race. I think that for you to make a much bigger leap - you will need to go to the deeper pain cave. You made a mental breakthrough - that will benefit you in future races. I think you even suprised Allie.
Damn, Green Lake sucks! I hated running there when we lived in Seattle. Walkers, strollers, bicycles, skateboarders, and dog walkers. Trying to run a race there without organization--no thanks!
What do I need to do to break 17 my first race in the fall? It's going to be my last year in highschool XC and I wanna break 16 by the end of the season. Any tips?

Dude, I've been watching you for several years, and this is the strongest you've looked on film. 14:22 is nothing to scoff at!
Definitely think he has found his knack. Really doing well this season. Believe he could break 30 for 10 k
not sure if he could yet but hes getting close
His 14:22 5K time equates to around 29:45 for 10K.
@randyevermore9323 yeah, but not how that works lol...energy exertion comes into play...
@@davidrusso6410you dont know what your talking about do you. 14:22 for 5k = 29:45 for 10k.
Now we know a 18:30 in a turkey suit equals a 14:22 without. 🦃💨💨
the science I didn't know I needed in my life.
Great race man! Those crowds definitely slowed you down you got a sub 14 in you for sure!

14:22 is seriously fast for a road 5k having to dodge walls of pedestrians. I feel you can definately break 14 on a track.
Oh yeah for sure, and maybe even under 13:50.
Okay dang! Very well executed and pretty quick for a crowded open course.
Shout out to Allie, definitely the MVP!
honestly bro you are a really quick and a inspiration for me as a middle school runner.
The change from
"He was not paid to say this"
to
"I was paid to say this" Is hilarious 🤣🤣🤣

Showed great fitness and even more mental strength 😮
That sub 14 is definitely possible on a fast track. Shoutouts Allie.
Persistence in training is starting to pay off massively... keep up the grind, 14:22 is incredible!
Awesome job! Keep up the good work and you’ll do amazing things
Lookin relaxed at PR pace. Great sitandkick on Waleed
That stroller being in front is really annoying
There's always some clown weekend warrior.
@@ericf9465calm down dude, it’s not that deep. He was a tad oblivious
Maybe he didn't want to clip anyone's heels.
It’s inconsiderate
What was their time?
Your best video, I think. And a an encouraging run for you, I'm sure. The stoller dude is such a cluck.
Great time Spencer!!!! Great time with dodging all those people. The sub 14 goal is alive! Wallied's cadence was so much lower than you.
Shoutout to Allie for being amazing, and great race Spence!
Super happy for you Spence! Great race broski!!!!!
Best video I have seen this week.
First of all, shoutout to Allie! Great commentary as always! Second, way to show out, Spence! The time is great but beating out a majority of the other competition… that’s a MAJOR bonus 👏
Absolutely awesome race to build some confidence. Huge race Spencer glad you went out and really pushed hard
Well done Spencer! That was a real solid effort despite the human traffic you had to circumnavigate. It is good harbinger of things yo come!
Proud of you and stoked for what’s to come ❤
Wald runs with grace. he looks like he's comfortable running at that pace. good job keeping up with him.
Shout out to Allie for filming like a boss!! 🎉🎉🎉
“Can’t be in that Brooks picture” 😂😂
Awesome job. Been watching since 2020 and it’s great to see the journey.
Great race Spence! Great pacing Waleed! Fun race.
14:22 in this kind of condition is INSANE. Imagine how fast you can run in a normal race.

Great video, love the lighthearted trash talk.

Fun video, good sport of the brooks guys, and well done on the performance! Oops, almost forgot, well done Allie for keeping on the bike :)
GREAt effort beating Waleed it takes a lot of guts to stay in the race when you feel like backing off. GREAT camerawork Allie O
Wow!!! Spence, great run. You look super quick.
Great camera work Allie 😇 Loved the commentary of the race Spencer. Great video all in all. Hope to see more.
Should be able to hit 13:59 very soon👀
Have to say that was very impressive especially weaving through other park users like that. Got to be your best run in some time.
Great Job, a PR in the fall is a good indication of things to come in the Spring 🔥🔥
“Shoutout to Allie”.
She ROCKS!
Wow fantastic great run great time considering your dodging Inbetween pedestrians your in great shape really enjoy your vlogs with Ollie
Busted my knee about 4 weeks ago after runnjng a season opener 😭 trying to sort it out before season starts. It sucks tho bc I got a groove going and then that happens

Hell yeah! You’re back now! Excited to see the sub 14

Lets go Allieeee. Great run Spencer!
Solid day! Glad to see you get a good race in👊🏻
Pointing at a dude and calling him a bitch even in a joking manner is wild
Really solid run Spence. Good job
14:22 This is what I did in the first 5 km of a 10 km race, and in the last 5 km my soul went out with it

You're a monster and thank you for that advice and inspiration.
You walk the walk.
Or should I say you run the run.

This is hilarious. Showing up for a local 5K and watch a eight guys run under 15 minutes.
Looked like fun I haven’t raced in a while, but this video definitely made me want to race again🔥
He's back baby! HE'S BACK!!!!!
Some awesome editing lately

Love the race videos
“That’s not a feasible outcome”
*loses by a minute*
I’m sure waleed appreciates the form compliment you gave him, but Spence your form is golden
Great race 5k dude.
Damn, Green Lake sucks! I hated running there when we lived in Seattle. Walkers, strollers, bicycles, skateboarders, and dog walkers. Trying to run a race there without organization--no thanks!
On a fast track with a couple of other runners going sub 14, Spencer would break 14 with the fitness he's currently in. 💯
Shout out to Allie for absolutely jogging this entire race and not even being out of breath
Finally. Making us wait 😢
Well done Spencer.
Great video!
