In one of the interviews jakob ingerbigtsen said "you know after first 500meters the hell starts" and i was like. Oh thank god its not just me. Youre saying for you 3rd and 4th are hardest. Good job man. Great effort
Hi Nick, Amazing video and excellent effort like always. I just wanted to say thank you. Your videos have helped me so much. I had a 5k PB attempt today at Parkrun and I smashed it I got a 20:34 and I'm pushing for my first ever sub 20. At 3k I heard your voice , I was getting the demons really bad and my legs were screaming and my head was saying no but all I heard was your voice, your commentary when your talking over one of your races about pushing so hard, "this what we train for" fighting those demons and i just zoned out and hung on to somebody and got through it somehow. Thank you and keep up the amazing content.
I love your comment about the 25 demons speaking to you at the same time, I think we as runners almost always encounter the exact same thought process but it's a matter of how we respond that matters! Congrats on that PB!!!!!! So so happy for you!
I'm 23 years old started running in December last year. My aim is to reduce weight I'm 10 kgs overweight. Right now I can run up to 3.6 km non stop.. I'm aiming to run 5k which I have never done in my life. With my current pace when I hit 5k for the first time It would be around 27-28 mins. I follow your content to stay motivated. You will be the first person whom I'll let know when I hit 5k for the first time. Congratulations on this race 🎉.
Well done go clashing and you'll get 5k no bother 28 minutes is amazing time for first 5k I think mine was 37 minutes... My pb is 26.05 but I don't run for speed anymore I run too get the kms in and just enjoy..... Good luck.. 🏃🏼♂️x
Always look forward to these videos bro. I’m just getting back into the 5k after hitting a 16:30. Now I’m up to 22:00. I’ll get back there tho, especially with these motivating videos. Keep it up man 💪🏼
I appreciate that bro. Yeah man the best thing I done was increase my base mileage. When I ran my 16:30 5k I was doing 35miles a week. I was running 5 miles a day 5 times a week (Monday - Friday) + 10miles on 1 day (Saturday). Also, on every run I did, at every hill I got to I sprinted up it no matter what. I hope that helps man wish you the best. @@JM-rm3lt
Well done Nick! I love the narrating as you run and your cyclist got some great video of you too. I love the breakdown of the race and the mental tricks / pep talks that you give yourself as you run. I think sometimes strong competition brings out the best in us too. Those were some insanely fast times. I enjoy your videos and get a lot out of them. Keep up the good work!
Unreal running Nick! The bit about the demons screaming at you really resonated. It’s so hard to ignore them but we find a way. Great video, kudos to the cameraman!
When ever i see your running videos i get positive energy to run more one day I'll record my best PB for sure, currently 19:44 in 5 km lot more to go 🏃💪🏻 lot's of love from India 🇮🇳.
Such a great feeling getting sub 20 mins. That was my “lifetime ambition” as it seemed so unattainable. Of course, now it’s to get sub 19 before I hit 60. Two years to find 16 seconds…😂
Hey Nick, subscribed and watching your videos from Melbourne, Australia! As a fellow park runner, I enjoy your tips on how you break down the 5K race mentally
Great run and great video Nick, well done on a cracking result. 👊💥 Must admit I really do get all your comments about wanting to slow down, the mental battle is so real and something I go through repeatedly. But, we keep on keeping on. Trusting the process is the thing, eventually the work pays off. There’s always the next race. 😀
Hey Nick! What’s the song that plays at 0:28? I’ve heard it in a few of your vids and shazam doesn’t recognise it. Need to add it to my spotify run playlist 😅
@@justalilbester your energy is what inspires me to run, as someone who about the same build it’s really reassuring to see you run these times, im closing in for a sub 20 currently running 20:58 as my 5k pb, goodluck on the 10k and thank you for these amazing videos
Boom Chaka Laka💥 love these videos with commentary on what is in your mind. Im feeling your pain and determination. Really helps other runners to also not break... Winners mindset. Shout out to Tom if it was him with the camera on his skates👍

I disagree with ya... Hahaha im not hating or anything, hes absolutely impressive, but there will always be someone working twice as hardwork that he does, they are considered legends 🙌🏼
What's up Mr. Bester! Huge fan! I am currently a freshman in highschool. I can run 5k in about 20 minutes with a PR of 19 minutes but there's this kid who can run a 5k at sub 15. I want to catch up to him as soon as possible and Im training to do so. Any training recommendations?
I've been watching your videos since I started running last summer. I'm a tall and relatively heavy runner being 6ft 3 and 94kg. Just wondered how big you are as in the videos you seem like you'd be tall and relatively bulky for a runner.
One thing is for sure putting the kids to sleep lasts longer than an all out 5k
🤣🤣 I’d say one kids book is almost equivalent to an all out 5k
Ha ha ha very good
You have spoken.

Boom! What on earth is going on? Suddenly I got goosebumps hearing you said that. I am so motivated to hit sub 20 this year on Sydney Marathon 5K
Inspirational, love these type of videos. Well done! Motivating me with my 29min 5k ass haha!
Glad you love them!! Keep grinding! The beautiful thing about a 5k is that you recover fairly quickly 🙌🏻
