  • So you (obviously!) want RGB in your build, but whose RGB ecosystem deserves a spot in your mighty machine? Corsair's Lighting Node PRO and their HD120 and HD140 RGB fans have some pretty compelling arguments, but so do NZXT's HUE+ and AER RGB fans! Let me know what you think!

    I have the corsair 120 mm HD and the only down side is that just now they released the 140 mm fans...Use corsair for case fans and the ntxz cpu cooler cuz it looks cool

    • @ALittleDIMM
      @ALittleDIMM  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought the same thing! I bought the 120s and then all of a sudden, 140s were on the market! Ahhh!

    • @Psycrovv
      @Psycrovv 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahaha glad we can share the same pain :D or sad..im not sure :)
      But i allways wanted the 140 mm to fill out the case...Maybe i will buy 3 x 140 for the front because the 3 others are not that visible due to my case is under my table :D
      The only thing holding me back is the cable management i hate to do over :/

      It was my pc seen from the back side with all the wires looks like spaghetti monster :D
      I used the corsair mini to hide all the fans power cables..what is ur opinion ? Keep the 120 in front or go for the 140 mm and all the extra work ? They are a bit expensive..30 eu each..so 90 eu total and thats for 3 single fans..no boxes what so ever

    • @ALittleDIMM
      @ALittleDIMM  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, I would need to see a picture of the case, first! Or at least know the exact case model. Corsair has a few "mini" cases, I believe.

The HD120 are working fine with the commandor pro but the LL120 Arent. LL120 (4) is working with rgb but i can't control it and it's only the middle light. LL120 5 and 6 arent working at all. • @ALittleDIMM

    I have a question for you: I'm planning on getting the Corair HD140's to replace the fans on my Kraken x62. But how will I go about having the fan speed ramp up with the CPU temp?
    I'm afraid that I won't even be able to get to the boot screen in time to configure Corsair Link before my CPU overheats. Any ideas? I'm really confused here. Is there a way to control the fans that would work as soon as my computer boots up (i.e. outside of the OS)? Any way to maintain traditional motherboard-based PWM control and RGB at the same time?

    • @ALittleDIMM
      @ALittleDIMM  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      tusing The fans can connect to the Kraken directly through the four pin connectors! Their speed will be controlled through there, so any fans with four pin cables should work!
      The lighting for the fans will be controlled through Link. The pump and fan speeds will be done through CAM.

    Huge Question!! So i wanna order the new CORSAIR LL120 rgb fans. But i have a NZXT kraken x53 liquid cooler. And idk if this matters but my RAM is also Corsair Vengence RGB and my case is the NZXT H500 without the hub.. My question is will the corsair rgb fans work on the nzxt case and liquid cooler and not mess up temps or rgb or anything???

  • @pecosR0B
    @pecosR0B 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    If I want to swap out my 120mm case fans on my NZXT h500i to AER RGB, will I still need a HUE+ controller? Or would I just swap out the fan plugs on the controller on the case for a pair of AER RGB fans? I'm torn between this and the Corsair LL 120 but I don't want to have to buy a kit with 3 fans when I need 2 just to get the controller unit. Reason I like the LL120 from Corsair is that they are really bright and look great, plus I have the h115i cooler and they have ML140 fans which look similar.

    Hey, quick question. Do you need the lightning Node pro to be able to use the "rainbow" effect shown starting at 8:20? Or is the effect still available if you just have the lighting controller?

    • @ALittleDIMM
      @ALittleDIMM  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Check 9:17 for effects without the Node Pro. That particular Rainbow option is not available without it.

      +Tom Shepherd Not as complex as NZXT's. Asus Aura Sync offers it (MSI Mystic Light might, but I'm not sure), and while the lighting is more compatible with other LED strips and some fans, it is not as advanced in terms of flexibility. You can always keep your HUE+ with the new case!

    At 2:16, will the corsair cases that have a button for lighting controls work with the unit? I have a Carbide Series Air 740, and it has a push button near the power on front of case. I am considering getting SP140's or ML140' (ouch! so much money) to eventually replace all of the fans in my rig. Thanks in advance! Great video as well! Subbed!

    • @ALittleDIMM
      @ALittleDIMM  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, I can't say for sure. I don't own any Corsair cases with that functionality. I haven't heard of Corsair cases doing this before, but you can always try to set up the controller outside of your case somewhere! Also, I hear those ML140 fans are pretty awesome! Though, I don't think they come in RGB versions, only single-color LEDs.

      The controller does not connect to the motherboard. If you want to control the lighting through LINK, you need a Node PRO or a Commander PRO.

    I'm looking into RGB for my PC refresh and I have to say your channel is a miracle. Do you recommend the Commander Pro if I'm wanting to manage 4 fans and 8 LED strips, or will the node pro work? Corsair's information on the subject is infuriatingly lacking.

    • @ALittleDIMM
      @ALittleDIMM  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Cody Schug You would need at least two controllers! If you don't need a fan controller or internal USB hub, two Node Pros will work. Each channel supports up to six fans or four LED strips, so four fans will take up one channel, four LED strips will take another, and the last four will take a third. Both the Node and Commander have two channels each

    really fantastic video. so you went with the nzxt in the end? any particular reason?

    • @ALittleDIMM
      @ALittleDIMM  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually went with NZXT in the beginning! I invested into the HUE+ lighting system first because the software seemed more robust, and I opted for the AER RGB fans because Corsair's RGB option only had 120mm variants at the time. If I had to make this decision again, assuming everything is all out on the table right from the start, it'd be a really hard choice. I think it would largely depend on the chassis. For something with mostly tempered glass, like Corsair's 570X case, or the Anidees AI Crystal Cube, I'd probably opt for Corsair's. I really like how the white fan blades accent the glass. For the Enthoo Evolv I have now, I think I'd still keep NZXT's because I'm either just used to it, or because the front panel is black and having the white fan blades inside might seem odd, if that makes sense. As for the RGB LED strips, they don't make too much of a difference to me, I try to keep them hidden, anyway! In terms of software options, both have different ways of doing similar things, but CAM's is probably a little easier to use in my opinion. CAM also has more options, but I don't usually use the more fancy ones, so I'm not overly picky there. I guess in the end it comes down to what fans match what case!

    • @nicholashex
      @nicholashex 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for the prompt reply. i'm leaning towards nzxt as well reason being i've also got kraken x62 so having everything under nzxt would make software management better and easier. thank you so much and great job on this video seriously. it cleared a lot of my doubts and questions!

    • @ALittleDIMM
      @ALittleDIMM  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      crankyfart There's a lot of advantage to having everything under one software. I'd probably go with NZXT in your case, too! Glad I could help!

    I got a Question concerning the RGB functions provided by the Corsair Node Pro. I currently have the HD 120 in my Rig and compared to the Node i recognized that i am missing some of the RGB Modes mentioned in the Video. When i purchase the Node and connect it to the RGB Hub for my Fans, will the Node expand those features, in other words, will i have access to more RGB Modes than without it? I hope that i can point out my problem properly :D Thanks for the Video, as always great quality and content :P
    cheers my friend!

    • @ALittleDIMM
      @ALittleDIMM  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So you'll have one set of effects with the Node Pro and another set of effects with the controller. The Node doesn't really "expand" the features, it just replaces them. Hope that makes sense! Thanks for the support!

      I don't own the 460X, but I believe the 460X RGB does have a lighting hub that can support up to six fans, and they are controlled by a button on the case. None of the fans featured in this video directly connect to the motherboard, they each need their own respective control boxes.
