    My God, you turned the puns up to 11 today!
    But even I can't escape them... FAN-tastic video! I do have to say that I like "I am" as opposed to "I'm" for the closer, now that I've heard you say it. I quite enjoyed the rest of the video, too, as you showed me everything I'd want to know relating to the fans and a decision in buying them--including the negatives--were I interested in buying expensive RGB fans for my computer... which is hidden away under my desk...
    I also have to commend you for the more comprehensive reviews you give of the software in addition to the hardware.
    A couple of friendly constructive criticisms:
    Starting at 5:18 when you're demonstrating the level lighting effect and the others, you turn up the music while you're still talking and I had a hard time understanding you. Just prior to that you'd already had music quiet enough to not drown out your voice, and instead you could have turn the music volume up once you finished talking about the levels lighting effect.
    A couple of your deliveries seemed like the almost should have been redone, but the one that really stood out to me was at 1:22. I'm get the kind of delivery you were going for given the context of that sentence, but it made me think you'd lost your train of thought.
    And mayyybbbeee try and choose your puns a little more carefully. They loose their charm when you overuse them, as much as I love them. :)
    I hope you don't mind my pickiness, but I hope that they're more helpful than harmful. See you next time!

      Understood, thank you for the comments! I probably could have afforded to go over the script again to keep up the variety, but I'll be sure to use that ending for a while!

    Wow Man, this is the best product review I've ever seen on TH-cam. Have you ever thought about becoming a stand-up comic? I just installed an AER 120mm and 140mm in my new NZXT S340 Elite-White RGB build. Your demonstration of how to use the software has opened my mind. I originally watched this video since I was on the fence about buying these fans for my first build when I get back home, but this video helped me out tremendously. Especially since you have the same case I'm bought also. Anyways, about your content, it's just hilarious! All I've wanted in a Tech TH-camr is someone who uses the quirky humor from LinusTechTips with the seriousness from SalazarStudios. Professional, yet very personal. I hate how you only have 685 subscribers, but let me tell you this. You are about to blow up, my friend. Your videos are perfectly made and all the content and relevant with your fun twist on it. I've been looking for an adequate AER video for weeks, because I was considering it for my build. This is EXACTLY the kind of content I was looking for. I'm seriously about to spend my weekend watching all of your videos. Please, please keep doing these. I haven't checked all your videos yet; but if it's not there, can you do an in-depth video discussing beginning streamer audio choices? What kind of mics to buy for things such as your Focusrite and what not. I haven't found a good video explaining what's needed for good XLR microphones (my current mic is XLR to USB and I want to utilize some better technology audio wise).

    • @ALittleDIMM
      @ALittleDIMM  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm blushing. That's awesome, I'm glad to hear you enjoy the videos, thanks!
      Regarding audio equipment, I can absolutely do something about that. I'm actually waiting for a microphone to show up at my doorstep, so I'll be able to start working on this soon!

    • @AllSystemsABro
      @AllSystemsABro 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I can expand on the request, I just personally have a lot of questions about the differences between XLR/USB and just straight XLR. Obviously quality wise, it's significant, but with an XLR you need a mixer (like that Focusrite), and I know absolutely nothing about audio equipment. It's something I would personally like to see well-made in your kind of style. It's so easy to watch your videos all the way through. I just want to know if it's easy enough to learn through a simple, well made review/how to.

    • @ALittleDIMM
      @ALittleDIMM  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can request whatever you'd like! I just can't promise it'll be done super-quick. A fellow has to work, too. I can put all of this in a video, but if you need information right this minute, in a nutshell, XLR microphones basically give you the option to use pre-amp processors, which basically means you can apply certain effects to your audio (like gain boosting, gating, and compression) before it even reaches the computer. This is nice in the sense that it'll be less work that needs to be done in post-production (editing the audio), but even nicer in the sense that you'll be able to hear the audio effects live. The advantage to USB microphones is the ease-of-use and that you won't need an audio interface like the Scarlett Solo for the microphone to speak to your computer (so the total cost is generally lower). More details in the days to come! Most likely next weekend, but I'll see what I can do.

    • @AllSystemsABro
      @AllSystemsABro 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ALittleDIMM I have all the time in the world to wait. I just spent a few grand and updating my setup to an all white build and I'm in the process of building two new desks. Audio is going to be my last upgrade. When you talk about programs, is Audacity something you can use to record into like that Scarlett studio? I've used that in the past for college.

    • @ALittleDIMM
      @ALittleDIMM  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That must look super-nice. All white builds are real attractive!
      Audacity is a popular program. It works, it's good, and it's free!

      I have a question, how did you connect multiple fans to one channel in the HUE? are you using a fan splitter? also, do i need the grid+ in addition to the hue+?

    • @ALittleDIMM
      @ALittleDIMM  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Grid+ is not necessary. You can daisy chain the fans. The fan has a regular cable to be connected to the motherboard, a fan splitter/hub, or whatever, then it's got a separate cable for LED control that goes to the HUE+. From the fan that's connected to the HUE+, there is another port that can go into the next fan. Up to five fans are supported on one channel.

    Wonderful video, subbed! I hate to ask such a simple question but I really can't find the answer. I just picked up 5 of these guys and the Hue+. I understand how to link fan to fan, but I don't understand how to connect them to my motherboard. Or if I just let all the cables that come out of the fans dangle, just connect the first in the series to the hue+ controller.. and connect THAT to the motherboard? My motherboard only has a CpuFAN, Cha1fan and cha2fan... and that seems like an awful lot of y splitters. Or an awful lot of molex adapters?
    I've built PC's before but never included more than two fans and didn't research enough I suppose. Having a hard time now. At the store they said the box has everything but it doesn't feel like it :S or I'm doing something wrong. Maybe missing something?
    Sorry to bother you with something so dumb, but you clearly know the product well lol.
    I'm running an Asus Z97K motherboard with an EVGA750w B2 PSU.

      Ah, I see your issue! Since your motherboard only has three fan headers, you can only plug in three of the fans at once. While this can be remedied with Y splitters, an arguably more elegant solution is a fan controller. NZXT has the Grid+ that you can use, where you can adjust fan speeds through the CAM software you'll be using. It will require a USB 2.0 header on your motherboard, though (as well as a Molex connection), so you'll want to check to make sure you have an extra one of those. There are other fan controllers that do not require a USB 2.0 header, but you'll have to do some research on those. Some fit in 5.25" drive bays (that some cases don't have any more), while others act like a splitter. You'll have to decide what works best in your case ;)

    awesome, explained very well, also have that case so its nice to see them inside. I want to get them despite the price, but the availability is so spotty. I guess I'll use the fans that came with the case, and put some aer RGB on order if I have the money. I want these because they are more subtle than the Corsair RGB fans which are bright as hell.

      ALittleDIMM Yeah, I love the candle effect, that would probably be my default. The issue with the fan not spinning, is that a defect you will have to send back for, or is it something one can fix on their own?

    • @ALittleDIMM
      @ALittleDIMM  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fan not spinning was a problem with the included Low Noise Adapter. The adapters are optional and I didn't think it was something worth returning for. I just chose not to use one out of the three.

    hey great beautiful and funny videos, just subbed you! Seems like you're using Corsair H100 as cpu AIO cooler, and you've replaced the corsair fans with AERs. Are you still able to use Corsair Link 4 to tweak the speed etc depending on temperature of the CPU?
    Or you've just max out 1500rpm for AERs at all times? Appreciate any response! TIA

    • @ALittleDIMM
      @ALittleDIMM  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you can! Fan speed is controlled by the typical fan cable, and lighting is controlled by another proprietary cable that connects to the HUE+. As long as the fan is plugged into the motherboard (or a fan controller / cooler that is connected to the motherboard), Corsair Link should be able to see it.

    • @ALittleDIMM

      They fan design doesn't look to be specifically for static pressure or air flow, but it will work well in either situation. I've had them on a radiator for a while and they do fine! Unfortunately, it's not compatible with Asus Aura Sync, CAM software only!

      Ahhh ok...thanks for the fast response. Yea I'm looking for RGB fans such as these that will work with Aura Sync. The Thermaltake Riing looks good as well but I keep reading bad reviews on it. :(

    • @ALittleDIMM
      @ALittleDIMM  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I know, I don't think there are any fans that work with Aura Sync, unfortunately. The CAM software is really powerful, though. You get a lot of control over the lighting. Corsair's HD120 RGB fans use the Corsair Link software, which isn't quite as in-depth in terms of effects, but the fans look really nice! The fans can also use a physical switch that opens up some other neat effects, but then you lose the advantage of using Corsair Link. I don't have any experience with ThermalTake's fans, unfortunately. Hope this helped a little!

    Hey ALittleDIMM (icwhutudidthar), nice review and subbed! The puns were very painful lol. Anyway, I was thinking about getting those fans, but they're wildly expensive. Sidebar: do I need static pressure fans? I was also looking at Corsair's Air Series SP120 (Co-9050031-WW). I just don't know which is better. I am also using Cooler Master's Mastercase Pro 5 case for my build.

    • @ALittleDIMM
      @ALittleDIMM  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The general consensus is that static pressure fans should go on radiators because they're best for pushing air through smaller spaces, and air flow fans should be used elsewhere because they can move large volumes of air. I found that the difference is pretty marginal between the two in most situations, so you'll be pretty safe with either. If I were to pick between one or the other, I usually prefer static pressure fans for general purposes.

    • @ALittleDIMM
      @ALittleDIMM  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For this video, it was just pull. I am currently running push/pull with the rad as a front intake, though I can't say for sure regarding differences, since I made this change when I swapped out my processor. My best bet is that front intake vs top intake would yield little to no difference (various combinations of front/top intake vs front/top exhaust would be a different story). I can tell you that push/pull gave me about a five degree advantage over just push or pull individually, though. Thanks for the sub! More puns to come!

      So, having used these fans for a couple of months, and having some time to dig around in CAM, how are you liking it now? I see lots of poor reviews for both the hue+ and CAM software, so I'm curious what your thoughts are on them, in retrospect.
      Cheers!

    • @ALittleDIMM
      @ALittleDIMM  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hear a lot of people go back and forth on CAM, but in my experience, it's been generally stable. There was a small period of time (two to three days) where it crashed constantly. That was when I swapped from the i7 5820k to the i7 7700k, so I believe it had something to do with lack of support for the new processor. The next update fixed it and I have no complaints. It makes for good monitoring and benchmarking software, in addition to the bling! I change the fans and HUE+ LED strips constantly 'cause I like switching things up, and they all function as you'd expect. I have owned the HUE+ since around January of last year, and I've noticed that the LED strips have gone from white to a kind of pale yellow, but that doesn't appear to be affecting the LED colors. Since I keep the strips out of sight (and I imagine most people aim to do the same),, this doesn't really bother me. While this hasn't happened to me, I have heard cases where some people's LED strips have a diode or two act out of whack and show the wrong colors, probably due to one of the RGB diodes failing to display its respective color. I guess you'll get different answers depending on who you ask, but my overall experience has been pretty positive!

      Hey again, quick question. Im building a budget computer under 1000 dollars. And right i have got a little problem, im thinking about getting a skylake i3 6300. But i dont know if that will bottleneck the 1050 ti from msi. Would really appreciate a answer because i cant find any out here :)

    • @ALittleDIMM
      @ALittleDIMM  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bottlenecking is pretty dependent on the games you'll be playing. Some games can use resources from either the GPU or CPU more effectively than others. In general, I would recommend squeezing out a little more money for an i5 instead. You'll benefit from the extra cores, and with a $1,000 budget (assuming USD), you should still be able to put something pretty nice together. You can allocate around $220 for the processor, $20 for a cheap air cooler, $100 for a motherboard, $75 for 16GB of RAM, $60 for an SSD (option to add additional storage later), $400 for a graphics card (I recommend a 1070), $50 for a 500 watt power supply, and another $50 or so for a case. This should put you in the neighborhood of around $975. You might be able to shave a few dollars for Cyber Monday sales, too. If you need extra money for peripherals or an operating system, you can drop the graphics card down to a 1060 for anywhere between $200-250. Let me know if I've missed anything or if you've got any questions. Good luck!

    • @hugotornqvist5069
      @hugotornqvist5069 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the answer, you see i live in sweden where the tax for electronics is around 30%. Just a 1050 ti costs around 220 usd. And a i5 6400 costs 210 usd. ( Which is really annoying) But the games i want to play are games like Battlefield 1, Fallout 4, H1Z1, Metro last light, Steep and the newer triple A games. So im looking at adding 50 usd for a i5 or going for the i3. So would a i3 bottleneck these games togheter with a 1050 ti?

    • @ALittleDIMM
      @ALittleDIMM  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the i3 6300 and the GTX 1050 TI will compliment each other well. I don't believe you'll experience a CPU bottleneck particularly with those games, but I wouldn't expect to run at super-amazing framerates all the time without dropping some settings. If you stay with medium settings (maybe a little higher) at 1080p resolution, I think you should be okay. I understand that money will be a bit of a struggle with taxes, but I still recommend you aim for an i5 if you can make the room for it. Good luck!

    • @ALittleDIMM
      @ALittleDIMM  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Six fans won't fit on one channel. NZXT's fan limit per channel is five, so if you want more, you'll need to forsake your LED strips completely, or get another HUE+ controller.

    I'm not sure if I'm just missing something here but how do the fans actually connect with the motherboard so that CAM can control them? Or if a Hue+ is used, where do they connect on the Hue+? Is there a USB header or something?
    EDIT: nvm found the manual: www.nzxt.com/uploads/download/attachment/600/Aer_RGB-manual-092116-ver2.pdf

      Yep, it's all done through the HUE+ (required), which connects to the motherboard via internal USB.

    You get me subcribing for a lot of input in many puns which had little outcome: That's how economics work 👍🏻
