I'd pick a Triton everyday over a Hilux. It's not that a Hilux is bad but because of the price difference. Even with them being used 2nd hand ones, i would still save up to 10,000$ or even more if i choose the triton. These are outback 4x4 utes for offroad. I'm not going to base my decicion on things as a reverse camera or parking sensors etc. I very much love the Hilux but the Triton is as much capable. I feel like because of the popularity of the Hilux people tend to be impressionable and they tend to go with it. Despite everything, both the Hilux and the Triton are excellent utility vehicles.

Like most reviewers you expect to be driving a Volvo. These are WORK UTES. Farmers and tradies don't want soft plush interiors and if you buy a "soft ride" you usually need to upgrade the suspension. You should stick to reviewing beamers and mercs

It has never broken down and still comes up like new with a detail. I installed a throttle controller and Rapid Performance Module and now goes even harder. Took it to Gunyah Beach in the Coffin Bay National Park last week and flew through the soft sand with ease.

IMHO when it comes to engine power the triton is under power because its just 2.5 ltrs compare to that 3.0 of hilux, although in papers trion looks to have more pulling power 350 NM @ 2000 RPM vs 343 NM @ 1400 RPM ( both AT) .. but if you think about it, the hilux reaches its peak torque earlier than triton ( 1400 RPM of hilux vs 2000 RPM of triton) which is better .. lets say both trucks are going a stiff up hill, the hilux just needed 1400 rpm to pull which means less gas pedal pressing, less engine stress... also because the has an extra .5 ltr of capacity the engine is less stressed and therefore IMHO it will last longer than the tritons 2.5 ltr ....

I wonder what's his obsession with "hard plastics". It's a damn ute for cripes sake. Therefore something easy to wash and clean, and that won't harbour sweat is a damn good idea.
As a country bod, I'm looking at getting a second hand ute [diesel or petrol is yet to be decided], and the Triton ticks most of the boxes for me [not sure about fuel consumption]. I own a Pajero and can attest to just how good the 4x4 'on the fly' really is. With that in mind Triton is currently top on my shopping list.

I am from Thailand, Hilus is the best selling right here, and come up at the thirth for Triton. I've owned both vehicles in manual transmission. In Thailand Hilux has 2500cc VN Turbo 144 Horse power, and Triton is here with 2500 cc VG Turbo 178Horse power. For the speed, of coz, 100-180 km/hr, Triton can lead easily! it can go faster with smooth and comfortable. Excellently moving in high speed. But in the the city with traffic, it suddently become terribal. Hilux completely wins on it. And in the car Hilux seem to be bigger and better. and it supports me saving money for the fuel paying in each month. PS. Both are diesel turbo. ( I am not good in English sorry)

Bt50 and ford Ranger in the top 3? You serious? Both that has engine problems specially when changing oil. When you can't completely empty the engine of its oil and replace it with a brand new one to make sure you get a good lifespan of your engine to stop it from seizing you might as well throw your paychecks away each time you get paid. Now Holden has come a long way with building themselves a decent engine that will last over 300, 000km since 1996. But the resale value of the new Colorado is still pretty bad. How can you call yourself an auto expert when you don't thintake these things into factor, it's more like a marketing propaganda for dimwits who don't bother doing a propper research on the vehicles they want to buy.

Toyota hilux for me please,in the caribbean, toyota is most durable, the l200 would be my number 2 pick, the ranger is one of the shittiest yutes ever built, not reliable at all and resale value ofcourse is very low,the colarado is a new comer like the amarok, but the hilux has been here forever.I agree that the hilux isnt the best at anything, but its the best all rounder and most reliable

Mitsubishi strada looks better than the Toyota hilux but hilux is a lot better than strada in terms of handling and reliability. This is true in the Philippines.

I like to read the comments and have noticed quite a few questioned the rear seat leg room comparison, I also noticed that the uploader didn't bother to reply to any (out of the ones that I read) and that tells a lot about someone, full of shit. Bye bye Drive.com.au I wont be watching any of your videos, and this gets a thumbs down from me, 162 that's me

I couldn't talk to Sam about it as he left the company since the video and we can't get these old ute's anymore to measure them out. I also only replay to positive comments or one's I can answer. Hope that clears it up "re tards"
