I really like this series.. It's always nice to see updated reviews.. Most reviews are of a phone just released and if you are buying it a year later that review might be outdated with all the updates etc.. I am in the market for a g4 so this was a great video to see as i had been watching all other reviews and none mentioned the new updates. Thanks.

Great job as always Matt, even the G3 stacks up well today, camera is solid and is really easy to use 1 handed. Maybe you could do reviews of older phones running their latest updates, after all updates make the phone.

I have the G3 & once I updated to Marshmallow, it drastically improved overall performance on the device. Everything is buttery smooth from scrolling the UI, to net browsing & normal tasks there's no issues with.
Only drawback is the battery, it's quite bad but thankfully with the removable back I can carry my spare battery around :)
Considering going to the G4 for the better camera experience
Unless I have missed something, the one thing I don't like about the upgrade is that it doesn't list app that are on the sd card anymore. I have to click on every app to see if it's on the card or not. Is there any easier way to find out?
Hey I'm looking for buying a LG this year so in the country where I live v10 is not released yet it will be out somewhere in Oct. Or Nov so should I w8 for v10 or go with G4 this April ( I'm looking a great camera and solid performance )

I certainly did! Perfect video for me right now as I'm considering purchasing the G4 to replace my 2014 Moto X. I did some searching and I've read that the G4 is probably getting the update to Nougat at some point. Have you heard any details on that?
great video man. I own an LG G4 and it was the best desicion for me :) the camera,batery life,QHD display and also the build (leather brown) just like you said... the UI.. but nova launcher is the solution :)

+Tolgathegooner Go to settings, about phone and look at the software version. It should say 6.0 if its 5.0 or 5.1 it's still on lollipop
I really want to purchase a G4 but I have been hearing a lot about a boot loop issue and no long term reviews have touched on this issue. Can anyone confirm that it is fix or that newer makes of the G4 do not have this issue?

Yeah I got the marshmallow update the other day and like you a bit disappointed! Nothing really looks or feels different and my battery feels worse with the update never mind better! Possible I have a bug or something but who knows and I also thought with this update I could use my external memory card as internal memory? Is that not the case?? Great video Mat as per and I still all in love the phone though I must say I think my next phone I will be going a bit smaller again! Really like the look and size of the htc a9 but over here we only get 2g and 16gb storage! So for £300 for the specs not nearly cheap enough with the likes of the one plus x and honor 7 etc around and these big boys need to up there game on specs and prices from now on or they will find more and more people like me jumping ship!

Watching this video made me even more excited for my G4 to arrive! I was torn between the galaxy s6 and the g4 but hearing that the g4 has such better battery life really helped :) also, i love this "Is it worth it?" series!

Still loving mine. I tried a Galaxy S7 for the weekend and while the S7 is a touch nicer in most areas, I did not feel the improvements were substantial enough and am content to continue with my G4.
how long have you been using the G4 did you had boot loop issue with it?
Decency Souldier 1.5 years. I did, but I sent it in to LG and they sent me it back with a new motherboard in about a week - at no cost. I had bought mine shortly after release.
was your phone under warranty?
Decency Souldier I'm not exactly sure. I called LG when I had the bootloop problem and explained my issue and they just said send it in, no questions really.

Great video as always. Im very happy with it and love the marshmellow update. Nad thing is I have been getting a strage problem, sometimes is has random taps(gosht taps) i looked on the web but didnt know how to solve it if i cant fix it ill just send it back, do you know anything about this?

I have a V10 and have been happy with it. I do use Nova Launcher and custom icons to cover the UI. The phones runs smoothly with no lag. As long as a UI doesn't slow the phone down I'm ok with it. Still waiting for lollipop though.

Just ordered the G4 last night and waiting for it in the mail from ATT. Galaxy S4 finally gave up the will to live. My wife has the S6 and I had to be different. Thanks for the video... Can hardly wait to experience the G4!!!

my wife just traded her g4 that she only had for a week for a note 5. she said she miss Samsung but she do like her g4
still waiting on Marshmallow, but the only gripe I have had with the phone has been the inconsistent battery life, which I hope will change with the update. I normally use Nova Launcher on all android phones so the UI isn't that big of a deal. There is a bit of lag here and there, but its not a deal breaker. The camera is top notch (I actually like it better than the s6 and iphone 6s) and overall compactness of this 5.5" phone in such a small form factor is awesome.
same with me the only thing that putting me off is the poor speaker but everything else is just what I need as my LGG3 is playing up a little and keeps crashing.
but then the M9 has a worse camera.

Do you have bootloop problems?
As a G4 owner, the device is absolutely amazing. The display on this baby is to the point where the colors pop and no matter how hard I try, I cannot see any pixelation. My eyes literally go cross-eyed before I see a HINT of pixelation. The battery lift I find is better than most other devices. Not to mention how fast this thing charges. Holy. Crap. If I'm down to say 20% i can throw the thing on a charger for 10 minutes and I'm up to 50%+. It blows me away every time. The slight curve gives the phone a very pleasing aesthetic and it very noticeable when you are on the phone with someone and it is against your ear. Its almost the feeling of "Why don't other phones have a slightly curved display like this?" As far as the UI, compared to other devices it is cluttered somewhat. But if you look past the small flaws its not bad. My G4 doesn't have Android 6.0 yet (step up your game Verizon) But 5.1 is still an amazing experience on this device. I find to rarely have any hiccups during gaming nor general use. The Camera... Oh Good Lord. The Camera. Just go look at the specs. 16mp @ 1.8 Aperture... It looks hella nice. Most pictures cannot be out done by my friends/family's devices. To say the least, best looking camera I've seen. (& my ex had a S6 Edge lol) Also, to end this. The removable back of this phone is a rare luxury in the smartphone world these days. Also the up to 2tb expandable storage is a crazy awesome feature for when we get there haha. AAAAANYWAY. That my thought on this glorious device. I Highly Recommend it.

If you want a better camera and removable battery, get the G4. If you want awesome software, and front facing speakers get the pure. I personally am going to get the G4 cause of the removable battery and camera.
Please talk about Boot loop issue.. Is the phone safe now. i just got mine fixed at the service centre.

I am a big fan of lg and especially lg g4. I am saving money to buy it and will buy it in 3 month. I've also used the LG g3 and these days I am using the lg g2 Korean (f320l) and it sucks due to battery life. International variant of g2 is a lot good! BTW nice video mate :)

The price of the G4 is great so it's a good option of you wNt to save money even after the G5 comes out. I'd still recommend the nexus 6p over the G4

G4 dropped almost 100€ in price with the introduction of the G5 now... I just ordered mine yesterday, to replace my aged Motorola Razr HD.
Only thing I'm missing is the conveniance of a finger-print reader... but the alternatives S6 or Z5 have other tradeoffs and still a much higher price.

I heard that this phone can experience something called a bootloop? Where it continuously restarts itself, I want to buy this phone but this worries me. Is this something that happens often with the lg g4? If so is it still worth the buy?

Love the phone but after having it only 3 months after i got 6.0 update it starting bootlooping so i had to go to Sprint and because of the situation they gave me a brand new one a week ago,keeping my fingers crossed that i don't have the same issue with this one because I really love my LG g4!

I still love my G4, battery life could be a little better but it's not terrible. Next year I might switch back to iOS cause I miss a lot of apps I had such as skyguide. Also the app quality just seems a lot better on iOS and update support is better and it can sync with my iPad. But after using android for 8 months now I like android too and action launcher 3. Soon hard to pick which is I want to be on

Am I the only one who get worse battery performance after Android Marshmallow ? Iget about 3 to 4and a half hours of screen on time before the update, but after the update , maximum of SOT is like 3 and a half hours that i need to squeeze so hard. Other than that , when there's a lot of notifications , i get lag and stutter while pulling down the notification bar . Please tell me i am not the only one !

I've been using the G4 for about 8 months now, and I love it. I mean, the design isn't my favorite (I think Nokia had something really good with the 930 and 1520 designs, or even Sony Xperia line). But the functionality is what keeps me here. It has one of the best cameras out there, it's fast and responsive, I can exchange the battery when I need to, and it has SD card expansion... What isn't there to like? It works well and great value for the money. The FIRST release of MM was TERRIBLE and killed my battery in 1.5 hours of SOT. Then in Jan LG released another firmware update and this one brought SOT back to normal :)... Solid device!

Broke my g2 last week, just ordered a brand new g4 for £200, if it's any better than the g2 it's worth the money, I loved my g2.

I can't believe u recommended this phone without acknowledging the bootloop issue. I have this phone and the bootloop issue is a major deal breaker. The phone just bootloop permanently out of the blue taking all my data along with it. Not to mention there is a lack of software update for this phone. Just felt that a proper reviewer would have not omitted to mention the bootloop issue.
Never had the boot loop issue! Therefore, it was never mentioned.

Power Chill I'm on my 2nd LGG4! 1st one fell to the boot loop at 6 months. At&t sent me another one. Mailed the 1st one back in with the free postage they provided. Got a letter saying the phone wasn't damaged by me and i wouldn't be charged (WTF) right? I keep my phone in a Blason Armor Box cell case. It comes with gorilla glass. Case is well worth the few extra bucks i spent because this phone wasn't cheap! Today the screen got stuck on dim. Went back to normal 6 hrs later. Been looking at Caterpillar's new phone and Kyocera's new phones. Very durable phones. Not giving LG another chance after this one go's. Damn i love this phone too😖
