I love how his last video explains TH-cam video processing yet everyone is still asking, "WHY IS IT ONLY IN 360P?!"... It takes time to process (encode/compress) the original video file that he uploaded.
Seems to be very random because another youtuber released a review of the G4 20 Minutes after him and after 2 mins it was available in 1080p. Nearly same video length and he is also shooting in 4k.
Helge Stanislowski It's not random. MKBHD simply makes the video public as soon as it's possible to do so. The act of uploading does't automatically make video viewable to the public.
He could upload the file and let it process all the way through to 4k, then make the video public (like "another youtuber"). The downside to that is that the video sits in lingo too long when he could just make it public (which 360p is still watchable) and let it process at the same time, incrementally working it's way up to 4k.

In 2016 I absolutely rocked G4. This brings me right back to 10th grade. My favorite part is when he said "it's got a 5.5 inch display so it's a pretty big phone." Oh man XD. I didn't care when the news broke that LG mobile went under, but looking back, It's almost a shame to think about how their phones could've progressed differently, or maybe that's just my nostalgia speaking.

***** Depends on what you mean by "Better", aluminium and glass feel more premium, and they always will feel that way, its not as simple as "THIS IS BETTER!1!!!!" if you want something to feel more premium and better, metal or glass usually feels like that, plastic holds up better against drops though, its got its pros and cons, either way stop saying its better like its fact.

+Ghassan Halboni Yup, The S6 increases the ISO to compensate for low light, but the G4 has that lovely wide aperture which means less noise. (Professional photographer here since 2007) I've tested both phones and found that result over and over. G4 is a much better phone for me Camera + better display and removable battery with SD card = heaven :)

Love the idea of buttons on the back. Seems super convenient on a bigger sized phone. Way easier to keep your grip.

***** It's great, I like it. I don't know about the G4, but with my G3, I can double tap the screen to turn it on and off(if at home screen) which is convenient when the phone is facing up and I don't want to pick it up to turn it on.
***** Every flagship from LG since the G2 has had that feature, called KnockON.
And yes, that means the G4 has it too. I have one as my daily.
It's 2018 and I'm watching this on my original G4 with the red leather backing super comfortable. Runs great never had a boot loop issue. Cheers!

I LOVE the quality of ur videos, not just the actually resolutions but the actual quality that makes a mkbhd video a mkbhd video, the video pan and lovely Marco shot I LOVE and the subtle but u can still hear it music in the background. U are my favourite TH-camr on your tube that I actually get excited for the lovely animations and lovely camera zooms and pans, good on ya marquees! Please keep up the excellent job that u are doing!

ed lonzy No. Assuming the light is coming from behind the camera, the shadow is essentially correct. If it were real, it would be longer and not the exact shape of the object casting the shadow, but it's pretty much good.
Lilly Baker it should be upside down. we are not talking about the shadows, we are talking about the reflection. If we were talking about shadows, the "G4" should be distorted "laying" on the desk, but its straight underneath the G4, which is incorrect.
I had this phone and I loved it. It was my first "high-end" smartphone and I saved money for an year in order to be able to afford it. I used it for two years and have never been more happy with a smartphone. Especially the camera was amazing. And then it started to boot-loop. A sad ending to a great story.
That sucks that yours just died like that. I'm still using mine, for 7 years now.
The two batteries i'm switching between are pretty bad now though and the charging and aux ports are broken :D guess its time to get a new phone but i dont wanna let it goo. Love the warm look of pictures, in new phones i feel oftentimes pictures look overprocessed.
@@duderRechthatYou could always opt for a OnePlus, I'd say they're probably the closest to what LG used to be, even tho the Top 3 now in the US are SAMSUNG, Apple and Google.

I've switched to an iPhone 5 after 4 months and enjoy this much more...
The camera on the phone is amazing, but it doesn't perform as good on Snapchat. Really a big bummer. But overall the phone is amazing, especially the LG skin on android, (double tap to wake the screen is amazing!!)

My biggest complaint is the battery life.
Really? I have a G4 and the battery never died before evening/night when I didn't need it anymore. I get 5 up to 7 hours of sot wich is pretty good. But I have to admit that I don't use my phone in direct sunlight very often, so my screen brightness is almost always beyond 50% and I don't play games. I mostly use it to watch videos and streams, texting and checking my social networks.

Man, I remember watching mkbhd’s review of the LG G3 so many times because I couldn’t believe that there was a phone out there that had a QHD screen… good times man. Also, the double tap to wake was insanely cool (I remember it being and LG exclusive back then). At the time (2013-2015) I thought my 1st phone was gonna be one of the G’s (G3, G4, etc.) cuz I mean, cmon, it (LG G4) had a qhd display, a micro sd card slot, a headphone jack, the double tap to wake feature and a removable back (remember those?😂), so of course that was gonna be my first phone. Turns out my 1st phone ended up being the Galaxy S7 in July 2016. Either way, R.I.P. LG phones, you will be missed.
Actually, you know what? Who knows, maybe they surprise us and come back some day.
I absolutely remember this as well, QHD on the G3 blew my mind haha - who would’ve known all phones would have QHD Amoled 120hz displays with 1000nit brightness a few years later :’) technology man

The video camera is where the G4 doesn't fair as well as you'd expect.
GSMArena excerpt:
The LG G4 video camera tops out at 2160p resolution and 30fps. It has a 120fps slow-motion mode at 720p, but no 60fps mode, even at 1080p.
Anyway, at maximum resolution the LG G4 uses 30Mbps bitrate, 156Kbps of which goes to stereo audio. These numbers are unchanged since the G3. Competing flagships (like the Galaxy S6) use up to 48Mbps for the video and 256Kbps for the audio.
The G4 videos are softer than what its predecessor managed. Part of that is that it doesn't sharpen the frames as much, but even accounting for that leaves it with slightly less detail.
1080p videos drop to the standard 17Mbps bitrate. They exhibit some fairly noticeable oversharpening halos, but other than that look quite good.
The 720p @ 120fps mode eats up 24Mbps, but it's a waste - the actual resolution is closer to 360p.

Definitely buying at launch after seeing this review this morning. It more squared out at the corners and slightly larger than the G3 so we'll see which I prefer

Not me, 10 months and no boot loop! My G4 was the "revised" version where they fixed the bootloop issue.

Samsung has done a great job, very beautiful. LG on the other hand has cut the bloat down, but I would love to see them clean it up even more. It would be, very, very nice.

Ah, the G4 and V10 were devices that I thought was gonna push LG up higher to potentially combat Samsung.....until the G4 display retention issues and that infamous bootloop of death occurred. Those problems also manifested themselves in the V10 as well and in smaller cases, the G5 and V30, with the G6 having isolated cases of image retention on the display.
That being said, I still love my V10. Got it fixed back up with a new display and frame and using it as another camera buddy paired with a Zhiyun Smooth 4 for vidya situations where I find my Sony a6300 too clumsy
Absolutely loved this phone and I had it with the red leather back. More phones today should have rear volume rockers!

G4s manufactured during the month of march and april 2015 has the bootloop issue . phones manufactured after that is perfectly fine

LG phones are SO underrated. I even just have the G3 and am constantly impressed. Apple has the marketing, but LG seems to have true quality and features imo.

I don't know exactly, but this looks like 720p now. The Microsoft Surface ad I had to suffer was in like 360p and have such thick-ass black bars surrounding it.

Dude I freaking loved this phone when I had it . I remember using the remote app to prank my friends. I remember how amazed I was in 2016. It’s a shame I turned this phone in for my iPhone 6s the next year
I got one of these on an upgrade. Just to let you know if like me you were concerned about the lack of front facing speakers. The sound is good!! I have come from a HTC One M7, which as you all know has front facing speakers, and at full volume the G4 is actually a little louder. It's a fantastic phone.

Anyone still using their LG G4 after 3+ years? Cause I am! The biggest problems are that the phone gets very hot, my camera was great at the beginning but something happened and now it doesn't focus at all, even when using manual mode and battery is terrible to be honest. Also had a boot loop issue.
The Lg G4 is an amazing looking phone and the build is awesome.

I think that the G4 is great and I've been in love with it since I bought it Saturday.
I just upgraded to the G4. from the Samsung Galaxy s edge. I had so many problems with that phone. Dropped calls, glitchy call quality. and I'm a phone talker. sooooo hopefully..... the G4 will be primo in that department. ☺

Md Nazial Kadir Hey!! I sent it back. But...... it was a very good high-end basic phone. The one thing I didn't like..... was the emojiis. They were basic and ugly. I Looooove my emojiis. Sooooo, I went back to my Galaxy edge 6. Turns out T-mobile was doing maintenence work on the towers in my area. So, that's why I was having problems with the phone in the first place. I guess I'm a gimmick type girl. I just love cutey features.😊😊

@@marinelo4859 My last LG was a G4, I have a lot of memories with that one. It’s a beautiful device but they were riddled with issues, I had to repair it 3 times in two years. My next phone was a Samsung.
I still love this phone, but had to put it down coz of the bootloop issue, which sucked big time.

Got my G4 after watching this review and reading more about it, still having it and pretty happy with it. However, lately I had a few problems with my unit's camera, but probably buying a new G4 would cost almost the same as fixing it

This was my favorite phone I've ever had, mostly because of the curved screen. It made it feel amazingly premium. I wish lg would go back to this approach.

I just upgraded my samsung S5 to the LG G4 the reason why I didn't go to the S6 is because it doesn't have removable battery or expandable memory. The reason why I choice the LG G4 is because removable batter, expandable memory, camera & the leather back cover.

Hi I like it I love how it has expandable memory and the battery last longer and the camera is really nice the S6 doesn't have expandable memory that's one of the reasons i didn't go with the S6

There's not actually more detail, it's just sharpening the image in post processing, which when overdone leads to harsh edges and sharpened out of focus areas, like in the gnome example.

Wait a minute...So when G4 looks similar to G3 noone says anything. But when M9 looks similar to M8, its suddenly the worst phone.
G4 leather backing had something to do with it. M9 camera was also really bad. However, Im no fanboy. HTC sense was actually very good.

+nikhil kissoon marshmallow sucks on it in my opinion but there are ways to make it better. Under developer options limit the background processes and under battery click on restrict background apps. That should make it faster on marshmallow. On lollipop it's the best phone ever.

I'm using a lg g4 and it's slow. the phone is relatively new. there is lag in the home screen, changing apps, and general manuvering. how do I fix this?
