PRO TIP: Water Damage is done NOT because of water, but because of impurities in the water. If you put your phone in Salt water (like the Sea) it will likely go out in seconds, however in Distilled water it can last hours...
p.s. Putting your phone in rice is a rookie move, as it dries the water all the impurities that conduct electricity stay... to properly clean a phone, you should rinse it in pure (isopropyl) alcohol, or at least in distilled water.

Is necessary to disassembly your phone in order to clean it carefully with cotton sticks and isopropilic alcohol. That is all when your phone turns off after a fall on muddy or salty water.

I had an otter box on mine and accidentally dropped it in the toilet for less than 5 seconds. I immediately removed the case, back and battery and dried all parts in rice yet somehow, someway, my screen now flickers. Any help/tips?

It may work initially after water exposure but maybe not after a few days. Mine is now dead 4 days post submerge. It seemed fine initially but I put it in rice to be extra careful. Sound stopped after a couple of days but now the phone won't power on.

my lg g3 beat was soaked up and it was fine altough there is some marks on top of the screen but it doesnt seems important......my phone is always on accident

i got water on my charge port and blew the water out with some air and the screen brightness would not stop flickering but after a few hours it stoped so i dont think its water resistant

These are good videos when you're researching a phone to buy. I had an early ZTE Warp in my pocket when I fell in the water. It looked like a fish tank.
Mine broke about 2 weeks ago, sent it for repair and it came back void under warrenty due to water damage. Can not think of when this was ever exposed to water maybe the few occasions when i left it in the bathroom when i was taking a shower. Had my iphone 2 years had no problems. Poor build if you ask me

I dropped my g4 in toilet water. And I have the light brown leather back for it, stained on the edge and on the stitching on the middle. I also noticed some pixel problems when I push down on my phone it has black in it.
Although I know this can be fixed can somome tell me how to fix it? especially the leather back

nice.. so my G4 fell into the shower for at least 3 seconds, and now whenever it begins charging, it makes these horrid sounds followed by 4 beeps. the phone will not charge and it has been sealed in a bag full of rice for 24 hours. Help??

My lg g4 volumen is stuck now because it fell in the water for less than 10 seconds and the only thing that was wet is the speaker and the charging port nothing else, ill wait 12hrs but i dont think this phone is water resistant

Just curious... what are you going to do now that your warranty on the G4 is shot? It might still be working for now but all your liquid indicators have been tripped so there is no way of getting a warranty replacement only thru insurance now!

Here in Europe that says nothing, they have to proof that the broken part of the phone is broken because of water damage. And the water indicator in your phone isn't enough lol

MachielvdWal not for nothing but did you even read your comment before you posted it cuz what you said is plain crazy! At no point can you get a device wet and claim they company must have made it that way or we'll it wasn't working before I got it wet so the water doesn't mean anything. Btw that's also why most indicators are located inside the device so there is no question about false or slight indication. If you were referring to Apple devices that's why the indicators are not external anymore but the warranty process is the still the same basically so people can't cry about apple not being fair anymore. Go read your actual warranty(ie instructions on how you are suppose use or not use your device) any use other than as described is not covered period.. FYI using in/around or near liquids of any shape size or color!
Thanks for commenting, I guess you aren't living in Europe. The rules are crystal clear here. In the warranty term, the company needs more proof then just the water indicators. They have to proof the water caused the problem.
Weird I dropped my LG G4 in an otterbox in water and it died INSTANTLY! And still can't get it to turn back on after 2 days of it sitting in rice.
I'm really surprised and relieved. I guess if I mess up and drop mine in water I have half a chance it'll survive.

I'm not sure, but it's possible! The Nexus 6 uses nano coating.

my lg g stylo which is basically physically similar to this phone, fell in a bowl of milk just the top part and now I have it in a bag of rice hoping it'll get rid of the moisture as people recommend. Phone stayed on headphone mode and had purple lines on the screen just from the tip of the falling in the bowl. My last phone was a older model lg phone and it fell in the bathtub water and work pergectly fine after.

i had my g4 in a plastic bag at a water park. the zipper broke & a little water got in (like 2tbsp worth). I got my phone out. it was totally shot. I dried it & let it sit 2 dry completely 4 a few days. but it didnt work or turn on at all, even plugged in. i had 2 get a new phone.

Is it Water Resistant?
Just because it survived his test doesn't make it water proof/resistant. I wouldn't suggest people trying this out with their new phone to see how it works, or to show it off to a friend. LG doesn't claim that the G4 is water proof or resistant in any way.
Is the LG G4s water resistent
Phone is not water resistant. If water gets into connectors inside the phone it will not work. If you quickly dissassemble the phone and wash it with high purity alcohol especially the connectors, it should work just fine. However if you wait a week mildue and other stuff might start growing making phone irrepairable. In short anything more then rain will water damage the phone. Likelly the reason the phone passed the test in the video is because it was at the very suface, and thus there was no water pressure to push it into connections in the inside.
This is all great and it's realistic but what u haven't said is that the phone breaks a couple of weeks/months l8r. My LG G4 fell in water for just a few seconds and wasn't fully submerged. Then, 4 months later it died suddenly in my hands. Turns out there's a water sensor which makes the warranty void if it turns red. Practical advice - cover it with sellotape because then LG will still repair it for you.

They didn't do that on purpose. The reason it works with water on it is because water (specifically, tap water, which is impure (has conductive ions in it) unlike pure or distilled water) is conductive. When you tap on the water, it sends an electrical impulse from your skin through the water and to the screen. You don't even have to tap the screen, just the outer surface of the droplet of the water. (If you're ballsy, you can try this - disclaimer: I am not responsible for any water damage done during this experiment.) The same actually goes for why you can put tinfoil on a pen and use it as a stylus.
