  • The Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 (AS4) replaces the out-going AS3+ as the brand's ultra high-performance all-season tire. Here are some observations as to how they feel and how they drive.

    You may want to check the specs again, the treadwear on these tires is 540 not 340. Has a 45k mile life vs 30k on the softer 340 treadwear tires.

    They knocked the ball out of the park with these all seasons, especially for those who constantly debate back and forth between winter and summer tires. It’s also for those who really don’t track their cars, but want to have a tire that can handle lower temperatures on dry/wet roads, while also maintaining some stability of winter patches. These tires are obviously not designed for the winter snow/blizzard conditions - this is for the added fun, grippy tires of the ps4’s in the summer, but also maintain the overall sanity of winter tires during the winter when you want to tone it down without having to swap tires every season. Trust me when I say it, these are truly for the mass market for those who want a tire that can function in all seasons, especially in the summer (most wont know the difference between an ultra high performance dedicated summer anyways), while also maintaining functionality of the colder temperatures and light snow.

      @simplyeric12 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To keep it simple, it’s those who are greedy in every category when it comes to tire shopping, especially for those who say to themselves, “i want a tire that can pretty much be sporty and also handle the dry winter roads, and occasional light snowfalls.” For those who are race inspired, they will obviously overlook these, but these tires will fall under pretty much for those who need extra sporty that doesn’t need the full capabilities of an ultra high performance, but can handle the seasons at the same time. It’s really a friendlier version of the PS4’s, but also can handle the winter conditions.

    • @mindspinn311
      @mindspinn311 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. Same idea as the Conti DWS 06 Plus. Can handle dry/wet really well and still capable in light snow and cold temps. Whereas something like the Michelin CrossClimate2 is a true all year tire for winter that you can still use in summer but is more of an all weather grand touring tire than a UHP all-season.

      @@jesusvargas841 You can’t go wrong with either one really. The Michelin is significantly more expensive. Heavy rain or light snow the Continental is slightly better, dry grip and steering feel the Michelin has a small edge. Check out the reviews on Tire Rack.

    I previously had two sets of pilot sport a/c 3+ on my 14 Fiesta ST and loved them, I bought a new set of the pilot sport a/c 4, in July, I just put 2,496 miles on them in the month of August to Gold Beach Oregon, the twisty roads along the rogue River are awesome the tires performed flawlessly the best tires I have ever owned, highly recommend these tires. My ST stuck like grew to the road. The Fiesta Flash 🤙🏼

      Good to know. I have a FiST, but summer tires are a no-go where I live. Glad to know they're at least as good as the 3s. They are good all-seasons, and they last, too.

    Nice video! FYI, per Michelin product manager Steve Calder (interviewed by tirerack's testing manager TJ Campbell), the Corvette C8 OE version of the Pilot Sport All Season 4 tire is not quite the same as the version sold as a replacement tire for all other vehicles. The former is tuned specifically for Corvette...

    I just got a set put on my challenger scatpack today. 275/40's up front and 315/35's out back. Didn't have time for any aggressive driving to see how they feel, just the 20 minute ride through town from the tire shop to home. But I'll get out this weekend and see how they grip with some 0-60 runs.

    I just swapped the OE Dunlop Sport Maxx Run Flats on my ‘15 Tuned GT-R, which I hated, for these since I run my car all seasons. They are incredible. It rides so much better and cornering does not seem to suffer much at all. They are also almost 10 lbs lighter for each tire!

    the corvette as4 are quite a bit different from the replacement market as4. that said the "standard" as4 seems to be a great tyre!
    The tread is optimised for snow, there is a pretty good review of these on the tire rack channel, and of course on tyrereviews

    Good review. Slightly disappointed in not having a rain driving review. That's at least one reason I'm not interested in pure 'summer' tires... they often suck in the rain. I'm sure it's a bit tricky to plan on it raining just when you plan to do the video to be fair.

    I know exactly where you parked for that opening shot. Parked there last time I went on a drive. Also, yes I e heard nothing but good things about the PSAS4, but I got the DWS 06 Plus because they were rated the same or better and cost less. These Michelins are frontrunners for my 996 when I get new tires this month. I'd label myself as a "spirited" driver, not testing limits and no tracking. On Costco's site, these are listed as 540 UTQG, not the 340 referenced in the vid. Good enough for the rear engined Corvette is good enough for me.
