Hi Dane... I passed my test yesterday 1st time....I drove in my early 20s but never did a test....and stopped driving altogether...40 years later at the age of 60 I decided to get back behind the wheel.....I must admit it was not easy!! Came across your videos a few months back they were all so easy to follow and very informative I got lots of tips and they definitely helped me pass my test... Thank you so much 👍
Thanks Dane another great video passed my test on my third attempt many thanks for all your videos your really helping learner drivers. If I learned anything for the process it's find an instructor that's suits you and continue with lessons and mock tests. And a lessons right before your test really helps. Good luck to all learners it's a long process but with the tester says you passed it's a fantastic feeling!
Your videos are such a big help, I binge watched them before my test yesterday and got tips from where I know I was going wrong from when I did my first test and from my results I got!! I passed yesterday, 🥳🥳 keep up the good work! Deffo recommended anyone doing the test to watch your videos before hand
Thanks for the support and congratulations on passing your test, you sound like a very capable driver who took the necessary steps to achieve the pass so well done.
Dane just want to say I have been watching your videos for months now at this stage! Even more so in the run up to my test today and I’m happy to report I passed the first time!! There’s even some videos I could nearly recite word for word 🙈😂 If I ever had a doubt or a question about after a lesson or a random thought during the day, I knew you would have a answer for me somewhere on your channel! I have recommended you to so many! Keep up the great work 👍
It sounds to me that someone like you will get the most out of these driving lesson videos so congratulations on your great news and thanks for any support 👍
Dane thanks for all your amazing videos I passed my driving test lastnight at the Tallaght test centre for the first time!!! Keep doing what you’re doing a lot of learners appreciate it including myself :))) thanks again
Hi, just curious how long were you on the waiting list in Tallaght? I just applied today but I'm unsure how accurate the RSA website is for estimating. Thanks
Hi, I waited for about a month, I was put on the waiting list for a while and about 3 weeks later I received a test date so just stay patient and you’ll get your date very shortly :)) best of luck!!
Thanks so much Dane for all your helpful videos. I passed my test second time round yesterday morning ,in Wilton Cork. I got a lot out of your videos,I appreciate it.
I have a question as I’m watching all your videos and preparing for the test… if you are suddenly in 4th gear can you break and change to 2nd gear in a speed bump? Or the tester wants you to downgrade gears 3rd and then 2nd?
Hi there, I just have a question in regards do reversing around a corner; can I be asked to reverse to my left and to my right, or just to my left? Thanks
Can I ask please. I have gear 6 can I go back the gear 4 must go down speed ready ang I have gear 4 when I see the hupm can go back the seconds gear, is it right or wrong when I am driving test. Thank you
Dane I must say thank you soo much for your videos your a great help I studied every single thing yu put up and I passed my test !!! I appreciate it all bro💯💯💯💯
Hi Dane I failed my test today in finglas. I binged watched your videos and done quite well but silly mistakes made me fail. I wish I seen this video sooner as this was one thing I was marked on a couple times. I was doing 30 in the house estates in 3rd gear. I was going over the ramps in 3rd but reducing speed. I was afraid of failing on progress.
You can't drive trying to second guess the opinion of some random tester, you need to judge each road and each situation individually and drive in a way that reflects the conditions.
This is exactly how all my instructors were "teaching" me. 30km/h and still in 3rd gear... Now I see that it is probably just a bullsh*t and you need to reduce to 2nd gear...
Yes 2nd gear and 20km but it depends on the bump and how big they are, some might be OK in 3rd gear. Hard to give you a simple answer because there are many types of speed humps.
@@DaneTygheletsdrive this is why Im watching this video! Ive been told to do the speed cushions in the estates in Finglas in 3rd gear, theres a good few of them and very close together which I was told would make it too difficult to keep switching between 3rd and 2nd so to just take them in 3rd. Is this okay?
Grace if you have been advised this by a qualified professional then you should have no reason to doubt it, it will depend on the ramps and sometimes 3rd is good on the smaller ones.
If the cushion speed bump is in three parts, instead of two, on the road ahead, should aim to drive over them or aim to get your tyres between them? I was marked six G2s last test, for driving over them instead of driving between them.
@@DaneTygheletsdrive The three ramps were set apart equal distances with one in the centre of the road and the others on either side in a housing estate. If I drove between them, I'd either be closer to the kerb/path or right in the centre of the road. If I drove over them, I'd remain in my lane.
Sounds like you should have driven between them and been closer to the path but it will depend on the situation and the road, there is no one size fits all answer. What did your driving school say?
@@DaneTygheletsdrive Driving school said should aim to drive between them so my fault for not listening. However in the test, if I aimed to drive between the ramps, I would have been in the centre of the road due to parked cars on my side of the road, so I aimed to stay on my side of the road by driving over the ramps. Got marked down for hazards, what do you think is the right approach?
I don't know because I don't know the road or the layout and each situation is unique, but you should always listen to the driving school because they know the area best. Did you specifically get marked for driving over the ramp or was it driving over them too fast?
Hi Dane, I saw your video on filter lights which was pretty good. But can you answer a question about them, can filter lights be 3 tiered as in red amber green arrow?
Like a potential filter light for red and Amber? Unusual but I have seen it. A flashing Amber arrow light is definitely a possibility, do you know what that means?
@@DaneTygheletsdrive Can't seem to leave a link to google street view as a comment. It's where the R612 crosses the R613 in Carrigaline in Cork. You'd be on the R612 turning right onto the R613
I was not told to change the gear down by my instructors. Do you need to reduce the gears when you slow down for a second??? My instructor told me to slow down to 30km/h but not to reduce the gears...
Hi Dane, thanks for the video. Just one quick question, if the speed limit is 50 and there are speed ramps, how much speed limit should we keep in between the two, in a dual carriageway. Is 30-35 okay, considering the traffic?
Would you get a mark down for not dropping to second? The car i currently use handles it perfectly in 3rd but just wanna make sure it wont effect me on the day of my test.
Just one question Dane. I struggle to park and have the car straight when parking horizontally or without line markings. Usually the back or front of the car is sticking out. Any tips or advice here?
Just sharing my experience. I failed the first attempt. Got 4 marks due speed on narrow speed bumpers due I ran it in 2nd gear at 30km/h. The tester said I could not reduce to 30km/h in a 50 km/h area. According him in that scenario is just to keep speed bumper between car's front wheels and reduce to 40km/h at most.
30km is a bit high for 2nd gear so I'm not surprised you lost marks there. If it's safe to do 50 just do it but there will be times you'll need to go 30 or lower depending on the conditions. I don't know what you mean by keeping the speed bumper between wheels... What are you on about?
@@DaneTygheletsdrive Sorry Dane I didn't make myself clear. I was marked because I was 30km or even bit slower when going thru the speed bumper(those squared narrow ones). Hi Dane, thanks for the video. Can we stop or park on speed bump, or do we treat it like yellow box? Thank you.

Thanks for the information! It's not ideal to stop on a speed bump but it's OK as long as there's no marking like pedestrian crossing markings.
Same in Poland. " a sleeping police officer" for the first bump shown in the video. (We dont have any other bumps)
